  1. He's been batting 1st the last several weeks. Where have you been?
  2. Reetz isn't on the 40-man. And even with Severino being removed, they still have 4 catchers on the 40-man roster.
  3. It continues to defy logic that a right-handed batter with the bat speed that Hiura brings simply cannot figure out even mediocre left-handed pitching. I think that's why he's been thrown into the lineup so often against lefties ... in educated theory, he SHOULD be able to hit them.
  4. All one has to do it look at the numbers Ruiz has put up across two levels this season as a 23-year-old to justify his high ranking. All these guys are basically the same age. Ruiz has a .337 average, 1.033 OPS, an OBP of .472 (!!!) and 13 dingers to go along with his 60 (!!!) SBs across two levels of the minors. He's a legit stud prospect.
  5. The Davis/Taylor CF we currently have certainly isn't setting the world on fire. And considering Ruiz has put up an OPS of 1.033 to go along with 13 HRs and 60 (!!!) SBs in 380 plate appearances in AA and AAA this season, I think it would be a safe assumption that he would be an improvement in CF for the Brewers. He has had 27 MLB ABs this season, and hasn't shown much at the MLB level yet. But he has been by all accounts one of the minor leagues' biggest breakout stars this season.
  6. It could be that they are perhaps extremely high on Ruiz and Gasser, and the Padres finally caved and offered the prospects the Brewers wanted. But then if that is the case, Ruiz should be in Pittsburgh and starting in CF tonight.
  7. Not to mention Peters was recently promoted to Biloxi, only to be dealt before actually playing a game there.
  8. Whatever the case, the optics of this look terrible.
  9. Welp, at this pace, we aren't going to have to worry about the Mets trying to poach Stearns this offseason ... or any subsequent offseason.
  10. Being a Brewer fan has been rough over the last 48 hours.
  11. I think the Brewers felt that they had another, probably more substantial deal involving one of their starters at or near the finish line, and it didn't happen for whatever reason.
  12. Granted he was by far the 4th guy value-wise in that deal, but still kinda crazy. I guess he was just a salary dump guy.
  13. Lamet has now been DFA'd. I've been one of the biggest Stearns guys around for awhile, but ... umm ....
  14. I'm sure he's got too much service time so that he can no longer be optioned without his consent.
  15. Likely his 40%+ K rate is the culprit.
  16. CC also loves organizational depth. Hoby can be optioned. Suter cannot. That would lead me to believe that Suter stays.
  17. It is a peculiar deal for sure. But I'll give it a chance, rather then go completely hot takey on it.
  18. I'd bet it's going to be Hoby. He hasn't looked as sharp of late, and is a guy who was sort of getting by on smoke and mirrors anyway, IMO.
  19. I think the chances of Tristan Peters having any sort of decent major league career are maybe 15-20%. That said, the Brewers don't make this deal unless they are confident in Trevor Rosenthal pitching meaningful bullpen innings for this team down the stretch and in the playoffs this season. This is certainly an odd move on paper, but with the way this team has managed to pull high-end relief seemingly out of nowhere, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt right now.
  20. LOL this will go well ...
  21. Dude ... you need some anti-depression meds or something.
  22. Apparently Stearns is only going to acquire relievers this deadline.
  23. His future is as the closer of a contending ballclub. There are worse things in life ...
  24. Well Hader is with the Padres already, so they sure as heck better be ready to go.
