  1. At this point, would the Brewers acquiring yet another catcher really be all that surprising?
  2. Again, if Hader is elite, Rogers is dang close. Lamet is an upside arm with a history of legit MLB success to add to the pen this year. Rogers is not equal straight-up for Hader, but Rogers/Lamet for Hader may well be a net positive. If Ruiz can give the MLB team anything this year, it could very easily turn into a win.
  3. Could explain Wong being on the block as well. I'd rather they acquire a legit 3B, though, and move Urias to 2B if Wong is dealt.
  4. You know who else struggled in July? His initials are JH.
  5. You do realize those prospect rankings are 100% arbitrary, right? Ruiz was going crazy in AA and AAA before being called up to the Padres. There wasn't many offensive performers who had more helium as a prospect through the first half of the season. He also has game-changing type speed. He easily would have been a Top 100 guy at his trajectory.
  6. If Hader is truly elite, Rogers isn't far below that level. The guy is probably a top 5 closer in MLB. Of course, he's a FA after this year, so the Padres had to up the ante to get Hader for another year. Lamet is an intriguing arm who was pretty dang close to dominant during the COVID-shortened season, finishing 4th in the CY Young balloting. He just turned 30, and is arbitration eligible next year. The MLB talent coming back in this deal is far from junk.
  7. Interested in seeing what comes next now.
  8. Gasser and Ruiz are legit prospects that will be top 10, if not top 5 in our system. I expect the Brewers to make several more moves before the dust settles.
  9. I know there is no such thing as never in these type of cases, but I'd be shocked if Hader isn't a Brewer come Wednesday. That just doesn't strike me as the type of move the Brewers ever make. I think it is much more likely he is moved this offseason, when more teams are theoretically vying for him.
  10. The app seems to work fine. However, I am miffed that it is not available yet on Samsung smart TVs or Roku devices. I have a Samsung in my living room, and every other TV I have in my house has streaming capability through a Roku Express, which also doesn't support Bally Sports+. I hope this is rectified soon. I've been able to stream games to my TVs via my phone or a laptop, but it would be nice to just be able to click on the app and have it work.
  11. LOL, what does when the Dodgers acquired him have anything to do with this? He was drafted by the Dodgers out of high school 12 years ago. And no, if he was one of the Dodgers top 3 OF options, they could have easily kept him. They chose not to. Perhaps they should have looked to offload Bellinger on someone instead, but Pederson is what he is at this point ... a platoon bat prone to massive slumps.
  12. At least a ground out can move a runner over in theory. I K is basically a wasted AB, and Keston does that roughly half the time.
  13. He's an all-or-nothing platoon hitter prone to massive slumps. There is a reason a well-run organization like the Dodgers wasn't too keen on keeping him.
  14. Keston was atrocious in 2020 and 2021, and despite better numbers this year, is still striking out at an astronomical rate. Simple as that.
  15. It isn't so much that I'm denigrating Bell. He's a quality DH bat. But defense has value. A all-around player who can hit like Benintendi and play good OF defense is going to be more valuable than a bat-only 1B/DH, even if the bat-only guy has more power and a better overall bat. That was my whole argument ... that I don't believe Bell is going to bring back substantially more value in a deal than Benintendi did. I expect the returns to be pretty similar value-wise.

  17. You have a point. I perhaps should have used the sarcasm font. But, at least from the eye test, the issues this lineup has had this season do include an inability to sustain rallies and push runs across the plate because of a high amount of Ks at inopportune times. It does seem like guys like Hiura, Tellez, Adames, Renfroe and McCutchen, not to mention Yelich, have had their share of "swing for the fences and hope I hit it" type ABs this year, and I see Gallo as a guy with a similar type approach. That's the main reason I don't see him as a great fit. If a high K rate is truly the reason they sent Hiura to Nashville most recently, I can't see them being interested in Gallo.
  18. Why would Bell bring back substantially more than Benentendi? Bell does provide more power, but he's also more streaky career-wise. Also, Benentendi is a solid if not elite corner OF defender who could also play CF. Bell provides no defensive value.

  20. Doesn't this Brewers lineup already have enough Joey Gallos?
  21. Keston had been doing a bit better before his demotion, but certainly wasn't setting the world on fire. And considering what he's done since 2020, he really didn't "deserve" much of anything.
  22. He certainly has more name recognition than most in our current line-up. It appears that you very much put merit in such things, because as an actual baseball player, Martinez at this point in his career isn't going to do a heck of a lot to help the lineup.
  23. I doubt it would cost that much. As for the trade value site, once this theoretical deal actually happens, the site managers would simply go in and quickly adjust the values of the players traded to make it appear that they had the valuations accurate. There is precedent.
  24. Adrian Houser should hopefully be back soon as well.
  25. It was the first question Gute answered in his presser a little bit ago. Said he has no concerns over Bahk playing again, but that he had another procedure on his knee in the offseason, that the damage was more significant than just the ACL and that they are "cautiously optimistic." But if the team's GM has no concerns over Bahk playing again, I don't think fans really should.
