  1. Then I guess I'm confused on what you asked about. I literally was saying he's at the top of the MLB heap regarding job security. I was not saying that he's at the top of the heap as far as managers go. Especially not this year.
  2. Regarding his job security? You bet I am. His seat is FAR from hot.
  3. He has not been good this year. But he's not going anywhere. The guy has as much job security as any manager in MLB. He could perhaps maybe even be the top of the heap in that regard.
  4. Wong is hurt (again). Urias is playing 3B today. Options are pretty limited. Not sure what's taking Brosseau so long to come back. Frankly, once again, this is a case of having a right-handed batter who sucks against lefties limit what this team can do.
  5. I have come to the conclusion that I kinda hate this team. They are just no fun to watch. Even when they are playing well, they kind of lack personality. And when they are bad, OMG are they excruciating to watch! That said, at this point I almost expect them to go on some sort of run where they reel off wins in something like 12 of the next 15 games to put them squarely back in the playoff hunt. Because that would be just my luck, having to watch something I've grown to kinda hate into October.
  6. I think he's likely the 1B for next year and 2024. I could see them dealing him at the 2024 deadline if he's still a productive hitter and the Brewers are not in the race. I would hope that there would be a ready-made replacement in the organization by then. That said, it remains quite disappointing that the team's player development arm continues to seemingly completely ignore the infield corners.
  7. The trade and contract cost it would take to acquire a replacement wouldn't be worth the small incremental improvement they could theoretically get that that position, in my opinion. Tellez isn't a superstar, but he's just entering his prime years, and should be able to provide 30-35 HR power whole holding down that spot for the foreseeable future.
  8. They can add him to the 40-man roster, in which case he would then not be a minor league free agent.
  9. No. It bothers me that the Cardinals pull an MLB senior citizen off the scrap heap, and he's suddenly hitting like he did 15 years ago. Sick of that franchise's perpetual rabbit's foot.
  10. The Packers make plenty of odd and arguably wrong/terrible personnel moves. I just thought that particular one was an odd one to get so upset about. That type of scenario happens every year.
  11. At this point I think they'll take 'em any way they can get 'em. A run is a run.
  12. I agree ... but it is ironic that the team was literally in the process of scoring a run on an RBI double as you posted this.
  13. As happens every year, an UDFA has a decent camp, and fans are up in arms when he's waived. But 99% of the team that guy goes unclaimed and is back on the practice squad the next day. And the fans who get up in arms look somewhat foolish.
  14. Yep, big game today. Not a season-ender by any means, but it's definitely one they need to put in the W column to keep pace in the Wild Card hunt. They'd have to have a crazy September to catch the Cards at this point I think.
  15. Ruiz is already on the 40-man roster, so I'm betting its him.
  16. Had he been put on waivers, there is a below zero chance he would have made it to the Packers, given where the Packers are in the waiver pecking order. If they were going to get him, it would have had to be through a trade. And I think that, had they REALLY wanted him, it wouldn't have been too difficult to beat the Panthers' offer. Given the news that other teams were engaged, I don't believe that the Jags didn't communicate with other teams.
  17. Considering the low price Shenault ended up going for, I'm sure if the Packers truly wanted him and thought he could be a big part of the offense, they could have gotten him pretty easily. Yes, I know there is scuttlebutt out there that they had interest, but apparently it wasn't too great of interest. Hopefully Amari Rodgers can be the same type of offensive weapon that you envision Shenault would be.
  18. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see that the Packers made a waiver claim or test the FA waters for a CB/S. That's one of the few areas where I'm not very comfortable with the available depth. It also wouldn't surprise me if they see how things go with the WRs the first month or so, but have someone like Odell Beckham on speed dial. I imagine he's looking at a near mid-season return.
  19. Maybe perhaps fewer articles is the answer. The short ones that are rehashing roster moves or summarizing a week or series of games are pretty utterly pointless. It also doesn't help that many of the writers of the articles aren't regular posters in the forums. There's a disconnect there.
  20. Depends on how in-demand he'd be, and if another team would offer a starting spot. He wouldn't have that in GB.
  21. I dig how liberal the Brewers have been about promoting their top prospects this season. They obviously really like Gasser, judging by the (very) short stay he had in AA ball. At his rate of ascent, he's setting up to possibly be the next future rotation guy who cuts his teeth in the MLB pen next season.
  22. I think it's probably a bit of both not playing Hiura vs. RHP, and starting him every game against LHP, even though the numbers bear out that he's terrible against LHP. It does seem like he has course-corrected a bit over the last several weeks, though. The team just doesn't have enough hitters available who are adequate vs. LHP, hence why Hiura sees so much action against them.
  23. LOL, then you get a bunch of "Gah ... why is Counsell so dumb? Doesn't he understand reverse splits?" type posts in the IGT. What those posters don't seem to realize is that this offense as a whole just isn't good against left-handed pitching. They are caught between a rock and a hard place when a lefty is on the mound.
  24. Looking at the available FA catchers this offseason, I see a bunch of Omar Narvaez types. In fact, when you get past Contreras and the like bloated contract he'll likely sign, Narvaez may just be the next best option. Other comparable options include Gary Sanchez, Roberto Perez, Christian Vazquez, Tucker Barnhart, Austin Hedges, and Mike Zunino. All guys who are decent defenders who you'd be happy with a .700+ OPS.
