  1. If the Packers don't swing big on a trade, there are still a few names on the free agent WR market to take note of. 1. Will Fuller - 27 - Miami - Has the lid-lifting speed that the team seeks, and has ties to MLF from Notre Dame. Fuller is a very obvious injury risk, though. The guy simply cannot stay on the field, which explains why he's likely looking at a minimum-type deal while still in his physical prime with obvious physical gifts and talent. 2. Sammy Watkins - 28 - Baltimore - If the Packers are looking for a (very) poor man's version of what Davante Adams brings, Watkins might fit the bill. He's a complete WR with decent speed and size, good hands and strength/blocking ability. He's another major injury risk, though, and his heart has been questioned in the past. 3. Jarvis Landry - 29 - Cleveland - He's more of a slot guy than an edge receiver at this point in his career. With both Cobb and Rodgers on the roster and in that role, he might be redundant. He's a guy who excels at finding holes in the defense, and is a heady player. He's the type of receiver that Rodgers seems to like. 4. Odell Beckham Jr. - 29 - Los Angeles - Obviously the most talented WR left on the board, but coming off an ACL tear in the Super Bowl, you have no idea when (or if) he'll even make it back for the 2022 season. He'd be the ultimate dice roll. 5. T.Y. Hilton - 32 - Indianapolis - Is he done, or is there one more productive season left there? I personally think he's done. 6. Mohamed Sanu - 32 - San Francisco - If the Packers want another slow-footed possession guy who isn't going to complain about his role, he might be an option. 7. Julio Jones - 33 - Tennessee - Hurt a lot the last few years, but when he's been available, the talent is still there. If you can keep him healthy, there is probably still #1 WR upside there. Big IF though. 8. A.J. Green - 33 - Arizona - Ditto to the write-up for Jones. I kind of expect one of these 8 names to be on the Packers' roster by training camp.
  2. With what they are paying Yelich, they simply cannot afford to not throw him out there and hope he finds something. This franchise has tied their wagon to Yelich, for better or worse.
  3. #2 catchers are typically actually catchers. Also, on what planet is Hummel comparable to Turang as a prospect?
  4. If it contains a substance that is banned by MLB, it doesn't matter. Most anything that a player could take that is performance enhancing also has a medical use that someone could get a prescription for.
  5. It is possible they roll with Feliciano as the #2 catcher, but they also may consider him playing only one or two times a week not conducive to his development. Sullivan is a left-handed hitter, so it doesn't make much sense to carry him on the roster with Narvaez.
  6. Considering they let him go because they didn't want to pay him what he ended up getting from the Braves, my guess is they aren't interested.
  7. I am far from a prospect hugger or "run it back" guy. There's been plenty of relevant reasons presented in this thread as to why it makes sense ... namely his success against LH pitching, and his familiarity with the pitching staff and organization. The Brewers passed on him because they had better options available, first in Pina then in Severino. Those guys are no longer options.
  8. It's not so much former prospect love as it is the fact that he's a RHH catcher who is familiar with the bulk of the team's pitching staff and organizational philosophies. And no one is saying that they have to stick with him for the whole time Severino is gone. But considering the season starts in 48 hours, they need a backup catcher, and Nottingham may very likely be available, the idea does have some merit.
  9. I agree with this. I do wonder if the lockout, and not being able to contact the team's medical staff, might have anything to do with this. It was extremely irresponsible on his part regardless. I would think he had access to medical professionals through the MLBPA. Clomiphene is obviously tested for, so he'd have to be a complete moron to knowingly take it, regardless of the reason behind it.
  10. Pedro Severino is probably superior to Nottingham too, but his poor judgement has put them in a rough spot. All those teams you mentioned are large markets, with the equally large payrolls to easily digest paying good money to a backup catcher. Guess we'll see what the Brewers end up doing, but them grabbing a guy like Nottingham is probably going to be the end result.
  11. There's a big difference between a franchise cornerstone signed to a huge deal like Braun, and a fringy backup catcher. Has there been others at the MLB level who were suspended?
  12. So do you think that the Brewers believe his story? I would imagine they'd just cut him if they thought he was lying on top of letting the team down for half the season.
  13. I would venture to guess that the majority of MLB teams employ a player who is a fringe major leaguer as their #2 catcher. Nottingham was given his walking papers twice by the Brewers last year because the other RHH backup catcher on their roster - Manny Pina - was simply a better player. And he signed a deal with the Braves in the offseason commensurate of that. If Nottingham doesn't make the Orioles, he will be waived, and by my understanding would be available via waivers to any team. He cannot choose his next destination.
  14. He accepted the punishment. Why would a guy create a cover story that is more embarrassing than simply not having one?
  15. You are simply incorrect. It, in fact, IS prescribed to men, and there is plenty of information out there to back that notion up. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/324373#when-do-doctors-prescribe-it I'm sorry, but I don't think it's fair to immediately jump to the "that guy cheated, he's a scumball" response every time something like this happens.
  16. You asked if it was a known fact, and I provided Severino's statement. I guess you could demand a copy of his prescription or his prognosis if you wish, but sometimes you just have to take a guy at his word. Especially in a case like this, which can certainly be construed as embarrassing. He certainly didn't need to come out and admit that he has incontinence. In a lot of ways, in the macho world of MLB, that could be looked at as even more embarrassing as getting pinched for taking roids. I certainly believe him, because I have no reason not to, and applaud him for being forthright about something that can be embarrassing for a lot of men.
  17. https://twitter.com/sportskeeda_mlb/status/1511361091950956553
  18. He's in a competition with two other guys for the Orioles backup C job. There's a decent chance he'll be waived in the next 24 hours, in which case the Brewers should probably take a look.
  19. I mean, it was in Severino's statement released through the MLBPA. I don't see any reason for not taking the guy at his word. He accepted the punishment and admitted he messed up.
  20. Drug was in fertility medication Severino was prescribed in an attempt to start a family with his wife. That sucks.
  21. B. They didn't cave into the idea of trading Hader or any of their starting pitching depth in an attempt to grab another bat. This team is going to be driven by solid pitching. It is a playoff team. Whether they are a World Series contender depends on if Yelich can stay healthy and find something resembling his 2018-19 self, and whether Hiura has figured anything out. I expect Wong to be fine, Adames to be an All Star and Urias to continue his upward trajectory. Renfroe will hit 30 bombs, but his slumps will be frustrating. If Cain can stay healthy, he should be fine. If he can't, Taylor is a solid breakout candidate. McCutchen's energy and leadership will be fun to watch. He can't be any worse than JBJ. I know, low bar.
  22. Well, that is certainly not ideal. I was really looking forward to seeing what Severino could do with the bat. I wonder what it would take to grab someone like Jacob Nottingham from the Orioles?
  23. That is probably a pretty good guess. I was thinking either #28, or something like both their 2s, or a 2 and a 3.
  24. I want nothing to do with Cooks. There's a reason why he has gotten passed around the league. McLaurin would be a terrific pickup. The price might be prohibitive though.
  25. No. According to CC, no concern. Taken out as a precaution
