Mark Tiexeira has never played anywhere but 3rd and 1st base, 2 positions we have superstars at. Sure we can believe he has the skills to play LF or RF, but in reality, we know he can mash but I dont see anything that makes me believe he is some amazing athlete. His defensive skills have been in question from the day he was drafted out of GT. Not to mention the price on the guy has got to be thru the roof. On the other hand, Gagne has a track record as one of the best bullpen arms in MLB history, and is also a likely Hall of Famer. Teixeria would be a good addition to any team, but having the opportunity to get a Hall of Fame pitcher and add him to the staff for our run at the Division would trump any move that the Cubs could make in my opinion. Gagne for some reason seems pretty available. For some reason I think people are writing Gagne off as just some over the hill pitcher and that is simply not the case. Not to mention he is a Canada guy - so Doug Melvin has to be on the phone for him.
