  1. Manny Ramirez... Let Manny be Manny in Milwaukee!
  2. I bet he throws his changeup more, which can only be a good thing, given the pitch's ability to completely flummox a hitter. Better question. What's the over/under on how many runs our bullpen gives up after the sixth inning for the rest of the regular season? I'm putting it at 14...
  3. Finally the rest of the nation will bear witness to the top two ROY candidates, Yo and Braun!
  4. I was definitely one of Will's bigger supporters, going as far as calling him our top prospect going into this year, over Braun and Yo (though I did it more just to think outside the box. He's a K-rator!). But with Carlos Villanueva's emergence and I would imagine Parra being left-handed, the odd man out would seem to be our top pitching prospect. Melvin broke the stalemate with an overpayment for Ned's newest toy. Honestly, as referenced earlier, it is now a very short game, and you have to imagine Yo loves the idea of having a strengthened bullpen, and if he does depart, the picks should help ease the pain, especially with an owner ready to invest more in the farm system. I hated the trade when it was first announced but after sleeping on it, I am actually happy with it. Linebrink will bring a lot of stabuility to an already stable bullpen. And remember, everyone, the precedent on price that was set last year by the Reds. We may have underpaid...
  5. Didn't he almost win the NL Pitching Triple Crown last year? Such a package will definitely include Yo...NO!
  6. When did Manny Delcarmen become available? I am of the assumption that unless the Sox get a closer this offseason, they're going to let Manny or Craig Hansen (who has done nothing to show Theo he can be the guy) duke it out for the CL position and insert Papelbon into the rotation. But, as Melvin has said, he makes calls on these guys only to find out that it is just an ugly rumor that these guys are available.
  7. I find it best not to ever label anyone TRULY untouchable, but it is going to truly take a package to get Braun. The Red Sox could probably put together such a package, as could the Tigers. The Dodgers and Angels, as well, could offer pitching a prospects, but none of those teams have a Steve Phillips that we could "take to the cleaners". But for the sake of debate.... Angels-Adenhart/Wood/Shields/Chone Dodgers-Broxton/Billingsley/Kemp/LaRoche Tigers-Maybin/Bonderman Red Sox-Buchholz/Youkilis/Lester Beyond that, not really interested.
  8. Valentin probably could have gone to third instead of pumping once and done the triple play. But then we wouldn't have seen Jenks' Bush league beanball. Nevertheless, I would be ecstatic to see us make a blockbuster "Nomar to the Cubs"-type trade. Dare I say...Prince to the Red Sox for Lester/Buchholz/Youkilis???
  9. I was in the camp that wanted the former Iowa HR champ to be drafted by the Brewz. Unfortunately, he didn't make it to us, though fortunately, we didn't end up doing too bad. However, I would imagine it would take Inman+ for the former #3 pick. He was rushed the last two years by his organization and is just now coming into his own. If he can be had, however, let's take him.
  10. Well he did get tased... And you have to wonder about the abrasions on his eye. Perhaps he "resisted" and the Florida police had no choice but to show him how easy it is to hit the lefty.
  11. Jose Capellan for Dan Kolb? What'd we do with that flame-thrower who could become our closer?
  12. Except Nathan would probably cost a top 10 prospect. This is a pitcher who is as lights out as they come. K-Rod is about as close as they come, and the only team with a decent chance with prospects and a true need at closer would be the Tigers, who would be forced to OVERPAY, to the tune of Maybin+a pitching prospect. I'd love to add Nathan, but I'm not sacrificing Inman/Yo/Jeffress, nor supplementing Braun for Yo. I just don't see a match for us.
  13. Complete with pictures! So apparently he was also stun-gunned. No word yet on whether Sergio Mitre has applied for a concealed weapon permit to carry a stun gun now in Florida. Is there something in the water? Ponce de Leon went looking for the Fountain of Youth. Well it would seem the baseball players from that state won't ever grow up. But Olsen isn't even the oddest character. You have the next Pudge, the next Rae Carruth, and a would-be David, the Rock Slinger in Search of Goliath, if the young ROY hopeful didn't escape the clutches of Jeb's state.
  14. Marlins' Olsen released after charges of DUI, resisting officer Dontrelle following him home, but not being accosted. The abrasions on his face. Is he trying to angle for a trip to St. Louis in an attempt to be this year's Jeff Weaver (which I could seriously see happening)? The funniest part about the article is how the title will probably be the same within a week... Marlins' Olsen released after charges of DUI, resisting officer Foreshadowing, or just simply too lazy to think up another clever headline like that one.
  15. Once a Cubby, Always a Cubby....
  16. San Francisco... Imagine Dunn/Roberts/Bonds... If we can get the recently reactivated Jon Sanchez in a three-way, get it done. In fact, this first reported here....IT'S DONE!
  17. If we toss them Estrada, can we also get Francisco Liriano?
  18. Does Rottino have any value outside of the Five Counties? He's a good feel good story but I would imagine he would have more value in Texas as a pharmy chemist than as a utility baller.
  19. We already had a Cappy in our bullpen and we all know how that ended... But honestly how could you justify having an All-Star from last year pitching out of the bullpen while Claudio Vargas continues to get starts?
  20. Why does everyone have a fascination with having a southpaw in the rotation? The BoSox have stormed to the top of the standings by putting the best arms on the rubber (though Gabbard and Tavarez...that's debateable over the southie Lester, but that's neither here nor there in a debate about HOW they got to where they were).
  21. There is a very limited amount of players I would swap Yo AND Braun for. It begins with Grady Sizemore, it ends with Jake Peavy, and it is filled with Johan Santana. Beyond the big three, I don't see the need to upgrade one position at the expense of two AND the expense to Mark's pocketbook.
  22. I think we hit enough HR's already. Perhaps, someone who can get on base at a .400 clip...like Braun's schoolboy chum, Pat Burrell. He's having a down year and could probably be had for a song, with some salary relief.
  23. This has been bandied about a lot but Dunn would be a short term rental for anyone who wants him, and he has no defensive value at all. And his average is poor; he's in possession of no speed... But that power... What is everyone's assessment of Josh Hamilton? He has persona problems but he's been the model citizen since being introduced to KFC Jr. and promptly taking his spot in center and right.
  24. The D-Backs don't really have a scary lefty bat to speak of, but our next opponent has a bat that may evoke thrills. I can't wait to see el gigante flailing like he did against another young Brewer phenom this year. But beyond that, I'm just quite excited about young Manny's ascension. The future is now!
  25. The emergence of Josh Hamilton and Brandon Phillips negates his value in terms of versatility. Furthermore, I could easily see them going the "Fire Sale" route and collecting prospects or cheap relievers.
