  1. When I said, "Buy Low", I was referring to my suggestion that we attempt to pry Ryan Freel from the Commies of Cincy.
  2. I honestly don't think Villanueva is in the running for the spot start. If I had to guess, I would say that it would be between Yo and Parra, since Manny hasn't pitched in a few days and Villy is just so valuable in his present role. Let Villy ascend to the rotation next year. Given the success of our bullpen, why tinker with it?
  3. That's exactly why I think he would fit well on the Brewz. He knows the division, has always been known as a good locker room presence and team player, and his versatility makes him the epitome of a band-aid . He also has a good deal of speed, and right now would be a good time to "buy low" on him, as his average is down and he's coming off an injury.
  4. Wouldn't this be almost like a trade for the amalgamation of Cappy and DD? If there's any young lefty in the NL West I want, it's the gent who got the W last night.
  5. I would think that with Buerle signed to an extention, Capuano would instantly become the top lefty on the trade market, though Dontrelle could conceivably also form an argument for his coronation. Nevertheless, our Blue Devil would still bring a good haul. The Mets are showcasing Milledge now, and the Yanks are now getting Hughes back in the fold. Options aplenty, just don't pull a Bowden at the deadline (though Soriano HAD to be traded while Cappy doesn't...).
  6. Maybe Ryan Freel... He just came off the DL and with their own ROY manning center, they could conceivably trade their Jack-of-all-trades to us, deepening our bench. Throw in Weathers and the Brewz might even give up Parra.
  7. What player is worth Hart/Yo to the Brewers? Grady Sizemore??
  8. I would say the only time it is NOW is to trade Vargas. THat cosmetic record is beautiful.
  9. I would imagine that it would take awhile to get Villy's arm stretched out enough to go 7 innings, so I would rather tinker with that next year, when our rotation stacks up to.... Sheets Bush Yo Villy/Cappy (unless he's traded) Soup Good times. As for his time being now, the young hurler's time will come in the playoff when he needs to come in and ice the comp. He can best serve Emperor Ned by accepting his role for the time being, and looking towards next year....next year.
  10. That Red Sox rotation is pretty good and they built their lead sans southpaw. And I have been drooling about acquiring Rich Harden for awhile now. Otherwise, use Cappy to acquire a rental AND... Say Salty/Andruw/....Soriano??? for Cappy and Jr. Gwynny?
  11. Rafael Soriano comes to mind, as he had success this year with Wickman out and would fit the criteria outlines earlier of doing set-up and then closing next year, though I think T-Bow deserves another shot, much like CoCo got.
  12. Ask him how it feels to be a Yankee fan with a .500 club....and none of the rings!
  13. Is Otsuka's value lower or higher than when the Rangers originally acquired him? I ask because it took a former number one pick and a guy who is making a run for the Cy to secure the reliever, along with table scraps. And in regard to Parra, maybe we finally found a taker for Vargas!!! One can dream...
  14. If we tossed them Capuano, is there any way we might be able to get Andruw Jones, Rafael Soriano, and some money to offset the remainder on Jones' contract?
  15. Let's see if Neifi "dimes" on his cronies. Imagine if he came out and was like, "I only borrowed something from Placido's locker."
  16. The only thing that would scare me about Abreu would be hius reputation as a cancer within the clubhouse. I am of the firm belief that our chemistry within the clubhouse is a big reason that we are doing so well. However, such was also said about Carlos Lee and he seemed to be a good contributor to the psyche of the young ones. And the guy does get on base at a prolific level.
  17. If we could get him for his current value, I would be jumping all over it. However, given that the Brews are now backed into a corner, and the fact that he once led the league in HR's, and his reputation (though, undeservedly, at least according to Jayson Stark) for Gold Glove defense, and his icon-status in Atlanta (youngest player to hit a HR in the WS...), I'm thinking that it may take more than fodder to secure his rights. I would jump at a deal of Vargas, Escobar, and Gwynn, even if it is overpaying, simply because, at present, we are quite short-handed. I do remember, however, that last year, Andruw Jones was amenable to waiving his no-trade clause (I believe he's 10/5) to play for Ned. Good Times.
  18. Does that mean Corey Hart is going to be our full-time CF? I just find it hard to imagine a gent who was drafted as a 1B would be our centerfielder for the foreseeable future. I know he is quick, but I just thought we were done with all the growing pains of someone having to learn CF.
  19. The Bald Bush is my personal #2. The Angry Plumber Will Acend to his Throne during the second half, and show that the comparisons to Chris Carpenter are quite apt.
  20. Throw me in too!
  21. Why did they make the Chorizo the slowest sausage?? I continue to go with the trendy pick every game I go to, only to lose. Perhaps he could hire Randall Simon or I hear Tanya Harding doesn't have much on her plate... Otherwise, I'd file a claim with the NAACP.
  22. What about Bush's beard? I preferred the Bald Bush with the plumber 'stache, if only for the comedic value of imagining our pitcher going about his craft some 100 years ago, with the hiked-up socks and the....crazy 'stache. Now, he reminds me of my old roomie from college, who would "forget" to shave for weeks. Seriously, there were times we thought he was on some crazy drug binge. Now, I realize it was because his Boston Red Sox were streaking towards the postseason. All I know is this summer has been hot and is only getting hotter with my new "First Place Beard." It's Bushy and Blonde...and 100% Brewer-inspired.
  23. Rotation Sheets (Ace...of spades) Bush (The next Chris Carpenter) Yo K's K's and more K's. And he brings a bat. Carlos Zambrano v. Yo. I'd pay to see that as a pitching match-up or a boxing match...nah. Let's make it UFC. Cappy The lefty Roy Oswalt... Not putting up Quality starts like he did last year. And very un-Roy-like, he got injured. Do we really need a lefty? OK. The judges have ruled we're disqualified unless we supply a lefty, kind of like mixed softball. Sorry guys, can't argue with the judges. Cappy stays...for now. Villy Obviously, being traded for peanuts, or a poor pitcher, does wonders for a man's self-esteem, as this young phenom continues to pitch out of the 'pen with nary a hiccup or outburst. We appreciate a gent who does whatever he can to help the team win. And he keeps the bullpen catcher company. Soup He should be our fifth starter on our team, and the top fifth in the majors, at least until Villy invades the rotation, which will be well past his second NLCS MVP trophy I'm hoping... Let's just hope there isn't a referrendum on cloning concurrent to the Series. Vargas "Don't Call Us, We'll Call You." The Booty Call, even after you have no need for booty calls. You had a good run; we appreciate your hard work. Now get out before Yo sees you. Hurry! Relievers T-Bow He's more of a howitzer than a Bow. He looks like the guy you pay to landscape, and you always catch in your garage hitting the hippie lettuce. Wait...is that only me who that happens to? But the guy can mow, so you put up with the random events that go along with the well pedicured numbers. Wise This guy should be on Comedy Central, with his freak injury, to the hilarity with which batters swing for the change. They bring their dollars, and he always makes change for them. They wait for it, knowing it's coming, hoping it's coming, and when it comes, they see sugar, only to be left with a mouthful of dust....if they're lucky. That's Matty's change, appearing all week here, at the Improv. CoCo Beware! He hasn't been tested since he stared down A-Ram. And I still think he's one of the top two closers in the NL, with Takashi. Billy Wagner is going the way of Bob Wickman. Shouse How does a LOOGy get a 3 inning save? HOW! Lefty...THREE INNING...Guy???? Is Ned writing his own, Tony LaRussa, micro-managing book? He's like the shower I had in college. You know you need to use it...a lot. You hope it's going to end clean, but it runs really hot cold and sometimes just surviving without scalding burns and not crying is all you can hope for. Spurling The classic coin-flip situation in poker. You just hope the odds hold up... Capellan Old Yeller. Where's the gun? Wait. The 'Stache just gave him away so his rabid bite could infect another great franchise? If only he would have talked to Andy MacPhail. I hear he's looking for a good closing prospect, Marmol-ade, be cursed.
  24. Or Tony LaRussa could just burn up Sheets' arm in hopes of catching us after the break... Perhaps, blame it on the All-Star game festivities and the vino of Napa... I'm just saying, there's something about the gent I don't trust, like how McGwire seemed to follow him. I'm just saying, Jose Canseco wasn't juicing until he joined LaRussa in the clubhouse... Maybe Carpenter's juiced. Explains the arm problems... Wait, what was I saying about our rotation after the break?
  25. Rich Harden...Caps Locked....Bolded...5 Exclamation Points. I get giddy whenever I imagine Billy Beane trying to outsmart the 'stache on a deal for the top Canadian in baseball, with all due respect to the NL All-Star converted 3rd baseman and a certain AL MVP who can't seem to perform until after American Independence Day. Outside of the Big Six (Sheets, Hart, Yo, Braun, Prince, Hardy), anyone could be the centerpiece, though Rickie would definitely be a big AND for me to include such a young, sapped stud at a low value point. Everyone else, Hall, CoCo, Cappy, a well-travelled Ponch, would be met with a sly smile, imagining Sheets/Harden/Yo...That's a Big Three!
