    Some mentions that Hunter Greene might be available. Ignoring that maybe the Reds don't want to trade him within the division, if our pitching lab gets their hands on him Miz and Greene is a devastating combo for years to come. That's a guy I would trade Pena+ for.

    Yeah just because everyone knows Freddy would probably be very good for us the second he came back, he has been very bad for the mets and the price should reflect that. Half of what we got for him and another solid prospect in a position that will be open for us next year is too much for what he's done this year.

    I'm definitely not a prospect hugger and I am certainly more liberal about moving guys that many here but Henderson, Adamczewski AND Moneys for a rental? I'm sorry, what? If it were me, you either get Henderson and a risky bat prospect or Adamczewski and a much lower ceiling pitcher. And Moneys is too young and promising as a throw in.

    I think Made is almost certainly untouchable unless for guys (like Wood) who are also surely untouchable. Pena I think is nearly there unless it gets you a great player with lots of control (Mason Miller? MAYBE Abrams if you think you can fix his defense and have him play 3B? Maybe Hunter if they are dumb enough to move on from him and then trade Bill in the offseason?) Adamczewski and Henderson are the ones that I think are possible for taking a swing at Skubal or a worse guy with control and it would be tough to swallow and even then perhaps the Dodgers can and will beat it. Fischer is a wild card to me. I think the Brewers should sell high on him given his swing and miss tendencies and I think it would be to a team that isn't as great at evaluating talent. To the Angels for Detmers? Quero is another guy I think you try and send somewhere if the return is good. I'm skeptical his defense ever gets there. Burke, Adams, Payne, Dinges, Gasser, Crow, maybe Drohan and Patrick are all guys I could move on from if a team desires them.

    I love Vaughn on this teram, he's been great for us and is a great guy to have even if he's a big at bat off the bench late in a game. He's probably going to be our everyday 1B next year when Bauers leaves. But I think you need to be opportunistic and while I wouldn't go out of my way to actively shop him, if a team comes to you looking for a bat and wants to give you a controllable bullpen arm that you like in return, I think you gotta think hard about it. Very different circumstances, but I don't think the Brewers came into the year having any intention of trading Durbin and all his backups, but when an opportunity arises you gotta be open to it and it seems possible with Vaughn.

    Also everyone always wants the Brewers to get power, and even in a down year Henderson has more homeruns than anyone on our team except Bauers. But to get back on topic - get Skubal too!

    Yeah but he's also been injured quite a bit already and Skubal has won 2 Cy Youngs and you have the knowledge of your team having the 2nd best record in baseball. I'm not saying they SHOULD do it, but the price is what the market dictates and the 1st best team in baseball will certainly be ready if we don't meet the price.

    I'm not with saying they should trade Henderson for Skubal but you can't honestly think that Henderson is gonna be better than Skubal. Even if the numbers are remotely close, who would you rather start a playoff game? Who could realistically pitch into the 8th? Who is gonna sell boatloads of tickets? Who is gonna motivate an entire roster of guys when the front office says "alright, we're getting the best pitch on the market, let's go win a World Series." It's not Henderson even if their ERA is approximately the same.

    Yeah and last year I'd have hated to have lost Quinn Priester. Pitching is so fickle and one injury can derail an entire career. Tobias Meyers in 2023 looked like our ace of the future. Sell high if it makes sense. Drohan has been great for us but he was also kind of the throw in of the Caleb Durbin trade.

    I don't think you can declare that a guy with 9 major league innings is definitely a AAAA guy - Priester and Harrison didn't have a ton of major league success before coming here and that was with a much larger sample. I'm not saying Gordon will match them, but declaring him a bust after 9 innings is insane to me. EDIT - Ah, I misread and thought this year was his first year with big league innings. The sample size is larger, but I still tend to trust our pitching development.

    There's no way we are giving up Brock Wilken for a 27 year old AAA pitcher and 7 million dollars of Lance McCullers. This sounds like a salary dump with a prospect attached so they don't have to pay it.

    Teams generally don't trade good players for "backups."

    I'd prefer a bat with more power especially if it's going to hurt us defensively.

    I'm skeptical the Padres will trade Mason Miller, but they are under .500 and high end bullpen pieces can go for a ton of prospect capitol to help them rebuild more quickly. Is a Mason Miller trade realistic? He will likely get expensive in arb, but it would make our bullpen super elite.

    I think the Giants would prefer to trade like 12 other guys before Schmitt.

    I like the optimism but I think you'd feel pretty silly if you go into an elimination game and Woody comes out throwing 88 MPH fastballs.

    Let's get wild. What would it take to get Murakami to Milwaukee? His contract is Brewers friendly enough and the White Sox seemingly took a flyer on him hoping he'd do this in order for them to flip him to a contender for some long term prospects as they rebuild. I know they are technically in the pennant race on the backs of the AL Central being awful, but perhaps their GM knows it's a smokescreen and tries to cash in for the long term. Obviously we will pass because of his defensive inflexibility and the cost in prospects, but his power added to our lineup would be so welcome.
