  1. Sonny Gray for Domingo Santana
  2. Marlins have their own scouts, it's not like Stearns hoodwinked them or anything. If Brinson were still a Brewer we would be hoping for improvement, saying he is still young, citing his tools, etc. If even one of those guys becomes a big time stud or an allstar during a window the Marlins are actually going for it, the trade becomes worth it to them.
  3. I'm going back and forth between a big splash and nothing - every time I think of getting Realmuto I get visions of Hiura being an MVP bat, but every time I think of that I get visions of his elbow never being right and ending up as a poor fielding outfielder.
  4. Rosenthal reports that the Brewers are still seeking a pitcher and a catcher - wonder if Stearns continues to add more spare part/rental pieces using fringe and excess prospects, or if he couples the smaller moves with a big splash like Realmuto.
  5. This is going to be a fun rest of the season!! Moustakas is gonna thrive here and it fills a huge hole in the lineup. Shaw's defense at 2B will be passable.
  6. It's tough to lose Kodi since we've been following him for so long, but I think a fan of any other team would say this trade was worth it. If we were the ones getting Medieros we would probably be saying how unlikely it would be that he reaches his potential, etc.
  7. Looks like Britton to the Yankees. Curious to see what he nets in return.
  8. The only way I want Whit is if we can get him affordably, and if we can turn Hiura into an Ace starting pitcher.
  9. Did you even read the post? It's not happening. I like talking hypotheticals.
  10. I'm not saying the Brewers WILL or SHOULD trade Hader (they won't and they shouldn't) BUT I think the racist tweet scandal could fuel some good discussion on what kind of return Hader would bring in a scenario where he became available. So let's just say this past week of nightmare scenario continues and by next week the Brewers find themselves 5 games out of the division. Sure, the wildcard is still in play, but what kind of return would get you to answer the phone on Hader now that his public persona is damaged?
  11. Hiura now ranked #5 Overall in Baseball Prospectus Midseason top 50 prospects. Damn!
  12. If this article is to be believed, I think the Brewers are in good shape - they have a palatable offer for both sides and the Orioles are trying to get other teams to bite. We also have space to improve if the price DOES go up. I hope the Dodgers make some traction towards a guy like Scooter to really put us in the drivers seat.
  13. It's a relief that Burnes *seems* safe. Honestly, we can do without one of Keon, Phillips, or Santana right now so that wouldn't hurt. Ortiz is also PRETTY far away still with a huge pile of prospects higher on the depth chart and honestly, his injuries and conditioning are red flags. Those two as a "centerpiece" would be ideal.
  14. They want left side infielders and pitching. Woodruff, Dubon, Arcia, Erceg, Ortiz, Brown, Davies - Pick 2, we'll throw in a PTBNL.
  15. I predict the Brewers will trade Woodruff.
  16. I'm not sure we need a traditional LOOGY because our bullpen is tasked with too many innings - hard to justify a guy who only faces a batter or two.
  17. I think there are tons of flaws in this logic to be honest. First of all, the Brewers weren't exactly going for a WS title (at least other than the generic ALL teams are trying to win a WS.) The Brewers were pushing hard to capitalize on a chance to make the postseason for the first time in 26 years. That is a long time of futility, and the owners were very motivated to capitalize on a rare opportunity. Second, Michael Brantley was not the major piece in this deal. LaPorta was the "sure thing" and no one was sour about losing a guy like Brantley. I guess it's unpredictable, and you could say Brantley just replaces LaPorta, but still you can't really credit the Indians as geniuses for Brantley becoming a stud - not many saw that coming. Third, let's not pretend Brantley getting traded is what doomed the Brewers over the last ten years. Do you think Brantley would have been the one to get us over the top in 2011? Reversed the collapse in 2014? I guess it's possible, but again, that's impossible to predict and it isn't like our corner outfield slots have been black holes of production. 2008 was an amazing ride and having CC there was unreal - some of my fondest Brewer memories. I don't think an injury prone fringe all-star overcomes that for me.
  18. But a bad time for the Jays to sell low on him.
  19. There's got to be some middle ground - It's not like they knew Zagurski would fail in a big way - and it's too early to even say he has at this point with only one appearance. He had some pretty good results in AAA and you need a bunch of guys like that over the course of a year. You give guys like that shots because who knows what they can do to help. Look at Guerra in 2016, I know the Brewers weren't pushing for a playoff appearance, but he wasn't exactly an inspired option for the big league roster.

  21. There is no way in hell Arcia headlines a deal for Syndergard. Dubon is more valuable at this point, and do you think the Mets would value HIM as a centerpiece? Use your head.
  22. Honestly, the Orioles probably feel the same way about Britton. I think they can do better splitting up Machado and Britton.
  23. I'm starting to think that the Brewers will shop Woodruff, and if you combine him with Ortiz and some lower level guys, you have a pretty decent offer to a team that will value young pitching while not really hurting our depth. With the emergence of Peralta, you have Chase, Davies, Chacin, Guerra, Miley, Peralta, and Suter all ready with Burnes and Nelson down the line, not to mention Hader in the future and Zack Brown on the rise. Woodruff is a great option to maintain depth, but he is also a great option for a team like the Orioles and it wouldn't hurt too bad to send him.
  24. I'm pretty sure the Brewers called about Archer, "source" or not. Of course, there's no way to tell how serious the talks were.
