1. That is a little bit of back tracking as you definitively called Gary a reach at 12 when there were plenty of “experts” who had him as a top 10 talent. I’m sure there were plenty of “experts” who had him lower too but when I think of a reach, I don’t view that as somebody you might have still been able to snag by trading down a few spots. I also don’t know how realistic the trade down option was at 12 since there wasn’t the huge run on QBs. Heading into the draft I thought we might have the Redskins trying to get ahead of the Dolphins to get Haskins but that was, obviously, not needed.
2. To be fair to Counsell, not sure he expected Burnes to be THAT bad. Yet, he was bragging all three up in ST. They were the story of ST, according to CC. What does that have to do with Burnes (and to some extent Peralta and Woodruff) struggling?
3. S1XT0 is available in both Brewers plates.
4. NMSU player had what looked like a wide open layup to tie that preceded the foul on the 3 point shot too.
5. I’m pretty sure it was listed as an official accent color because of that... brick red IIRC. Not sure I’d personally count it as an accent color either though.
6. I’m pretty sure red was already an accent color for the Brewers due to the stitching on the baseball on the Brewers script logo. That might have changed when they made the M logo the official logo prior to last year.
7. Good story. Pretty much answers every question out there. MillerCoors wasn't interested in maintaining the naming rights, so the Brewers went to Plan B. That was AmFam. With this, though, I certainly expect that company to cease their naming rights deal on Coors Field. I mean, it's a Chicago company now. Not Milwaukee or Denver. Coors has the naming rights for Coors Field for life and only had to pay $15 mil. https://www.coloradoan.com/story/sports/mlb/rockies/2017/03/18/coors-may-have-best-stadium-naming-rights-deal-sports-rockies-field/99366746/
8. Did they hire him? I haven't heard any official word about it yet. Doesn’t look like there is anything more recent on it than from 1/21. Maybe they are waiting to announce until after the later signing day for Mississippi State?
9. The irony in all of this is that you are taking a team named after that tradition and identity ("Brewers") and now removing the link to the name which even more closely is linked to that identity and tradition ("Miller"). Miller isn't a corporation, it's the link to that identity. Milwaukee Brewers + Miller Park = identity/tradition, Milwaukee Brewers + American Family Insurance Field/Park/Stadium means nothing to that identity/tradition even with the name "Brewers". How so? Miller isn’t/wasn’t the only brewery that identified with Milwaukee and created this identity you are talking about. It might have been the biggest now but there we lots of others in the past. I’d like to believe the identity will continue even without the stadium they play in being named after a beer company. Heck, a big part of tradition at Wisconsin sporting events is tailgating and drinking and that won’t change with the name of the stadium.

11. What goes a longer way to continue that identity? The team being called the Brewers that has been around for almost 50 years or a stadium being named for a corporate brewery that still has some ties to the community? I understand the traditional aspect of it and I’ll honestly still call it Miller Park for many years (heck, I’ll probably still call it Miller Park when it is eventually torn down). I just think there are many more important traditions around the Brewers and stadium that won’t change even when the name does.
12. Agreed and it would be truly sad if some fans don’t go because of a change in the name of the venue.
13. How many of these exist in your mind? Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, Dodgers? Those are stadiums/franchises that have been around for a long time and aren’t corporate names... Miller Park was and it takes two to tango to keep the naming rights. Miller obviously didn’t think it was worth it going forward. Maybe that is what you, and possibly the majority of people want, but I personally don’t go because it was called Miller Park or has a connection to Milwaukee. I go to watch the Brewers play. I agree that Miller Park fit perfectly but changing it doesn’t mean we are a lower class of sports franchise. I think there would also be way less backlash right now if it had been Harley Davidson Park or Froedtert Health Field at first, but we are replacing one corporation with another here... not remaining Lambeau Field or Camp Randall Stadium with a corporate name. Are you really going to stop following the Brewers because the name of the stadium changed? I feel like this ownership group has been treating this franchise like it is pretty special especially after how the Selig tenure ended. They are investing in our team, constantly upgrading the stadium for fans and finally seem to be in a position to have winning teams consistently. That seems like a better thing than worrying what the stadium is named. Also, what if this switch brings the Ball and Glove logo back as the main logo? Would you support it then? The stadium will remain a special and unique place with or without it being called Miller Park... that wasn’t what made it special.
14. It's not that I have any particular allegiance to Miller Brewing Co., it's just that Miller Park is a good name that sounds like a real stadium rather than one of these pathetic corporate-named abominations that confirms us as a lower-tier team. Sort of the equivalent of having atrocious uniforms or an atrocious logo. A team like the Cubs would never have to do this. (Yes, Wrigley Field is sort of a corporate tie-in, but it's really called that because William Wrigley Jr. personally owned the team 100 years ago. The equivalent to this is if they renamed it to Hubba Bubba Strawberry Flavor Field in 2021.) I think the name Miller Park is about as clean as a “corporate name” can get for a stadium, but it still was a corporate name. It just fit with the team really well. However, changing the name doesn’t make us any more or less of a “lower tier team.” The are more teams (higher, lower or mid tier) that have corporate sponsored stadium names than don’t. It is also not the equivalent of renaming Wrigley to Hubba Bubba Strawberry Flavor Field. Do I like the sound of American Family Field? Eh, not really but I also don’t really care. I’ll still call it Miller Park, just like I still call Milio’s “Big Mike’s” and BP “Amoco” at times.
15. Looks like Rodgers has a QB coach he is familiar with as they are bringing in Luke Getsy. http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-41053632-4
16. Davidson charges? The last one was questionable. Looks like he lowers his shoulder into Davison to me. I thought one in the lane was a block as it looked like he slide under as the secondary defender. Great win at Iowa tonight, glad to see them overcome everything on the road at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
17. I think my favorite talking point after game 1 was how overused the Brewers bullpen would be because we used 7 pitchers... even though our team is built to rely on the bullpen. However, nothing was said about the Dodgers bullpen even though they used 6 pitchers.
18. I just don't think the criticism is warranted in that situation. People are already concerned that the bullpen is overworked (or will be) and you want Counsel to use Jeffress, Soria or Hader up by 6 to get 3 outs? We should take every opportunity to give our best relievers days off so they are fresh as we push towards the playoffs. Albers failed yesterday but it still took a hit and a walk against Soria to bring the tying run to the plate. Albers was a big part of why our bullpen was so good early this season and has a decent track record for a reliever... we need him to get back on track and can't just wait for blowout losses to do so.
19. Because it is a 6 run lead? Have you noticed how many runs Albers has given up in his last few outings? What happened tonight was totally predictable and Counsell walked right into it. Just close out the game and go home instead of giving the opponent a chance to win. Honestly? It sounds like a perfect opportunity to try and let him work out whatever his issue is right now. When should they use Albers and who should they have used instead?
20. That’s why bringing Albers in was so ridiculous. They should have those guys plus Jeffress, Burnes and Jennings tomorrow, so why diddle around with a 6 run lead in the ninth inning? Put in a pitcher you trust and get the game over with. Because it is a 6 run lead?
21. Let me get this straight... he shoulda known he was going to give up a HR and have somebody else warming up with a 6 run lead?
22. I agree with this assessment. Stearns is too attached to his prospects. I don't know how you can say that without even knowing who they gave up.
23. Has very little to nothing to do with the derby and more to do with performing over their heads the first half (much like most of the All Stars). https://mobile.twitter.com/mike_petriello/status/883328798376300545/photo/1
24. That is still bothering me 7 innings later. All he had to do was ask... You and me both. I dont dwell on bad ball/strike calls, but thats a pitch that a guy swung at and missed by 6 inches and an ump called a foul ball, and now it has had a direct impact on the outcome of the game. Even if the brewers win, theyre burning bullpen innings that they wouldnt have had to otherwise. That and it got my 4 and a half year old outta bed when I loudly said "no way" at the TV... which then took me 20 minutes to get her back to bed and explain why daddy was talking to the TV. I'll take the walk off W and Doug Eddings only cost us using Barnes (since I assume Knebel woulda been in the top of the 9th tied at 4).
