  1. The Packers AND the Jets are the ones holding it up. Negotiation is between two parties, not one.
  2. LOL he's still talking about 2020. C'mon man. (still no decision)
  3. I feel like more pressure is on the Jets here. The Packers are still motivated to get a deal done but they can try to turn the screws a bit. Honestly even if things don't get worked out until after June 1st it's still not a tragedy. They're going to want picks in this year's draft though so it's likely things get worked out before then. I do not think the Packers are getting two 1st round picks though. No chance. The Jets could just go make an offer to Lamar Jackson if they were willing to do that AND they could wait until after the draft to get it done so that the picks come in the next two years. A 1st this year would be nice, a 2nd is still good and hope for a 15th for 13th pick swap as a cherry on top. Conditional pick for next year and/or maybe a player. These work for me.
  4. But with a better defense, or at least one that actually played to their talent potential. Having a game manager QB with experience and instincts on a team with some talented pieces isn't bad if the defense is there to back it up. And Rodgers still very much has the potential to be much more than a game manager. There's talk about whether we should feel sad to see Rodgers leave but as with Favre (with the Jets anyway) for me there is interest and curiosity to see what that team can do with him. Doesn't mean I'm rooting for him or becoming a Jets fan but I will be interested to watch how it plays out. If he wins a Super Bowl with the Jets I think that would be pretty cool. Yeah it sucks the Packers haven't been able to get back there with him over the last decade or so, there have been close calls and agonizing defeats, and people want to blame Rodgers for all of that but man, just some fluky stuff has happened to this franchise. I figure they "should" (obviously not because it didn't happen) have been in at least 2 other Super Bowls (Seattle, Bucs), but things happen. You win some and you lose some and the Packers have done some losing instead of winning. They were still right there in the mix though. That means something. We didn't squander anything, it just didn't work out. That's sports.
  5. Bankruptcy date potentially set for this Friday, possibly as early as Thursday. https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Journal/Issues/2023/03/13/Insiders/sports-media.aspx Diamondbacks, Guardians, Padres and Reds are initial teams in danger of dropping off of Bally Sports telecasts. Reportedly MLB will pick up streaming coverage if this happens. Brewers look to be ok for now, guess that lower price they negotiated is saving their bacon as the other teams have higher payouts and thus make it harder for Diamond Sports to pay the bills. NBA/Bucks coverage looks like it will be set through the end of the season and through the first round of the playoffs.
  6. I understand that guys, I'm not the one complaining about the Brewers spending lol. The sky is blue the grass is green and the NBA, NFL & MLB are all different. I'm just saying that's the closest thing because of the market they exist in and the Bucks are still overspending in the Milwaukee market regardless of how much the owners are worth, even if it's only because they are paying the tax which is like setting money on fire. If it applies to Attanasio it applies to them. At some point they will need to have a reset year just like all teams do that continually dip into the tax.
  7. I see where you're coming from but any and all concern about Rodgers' salary is fully contained to the salary cap. As much as I dislike the "just spend more" narrative around Attanasio they're just not comparable. I honestly think the franchise that makes the Brewers look worst is right here in the same city, the Bucks. They are spending over the cap and paying millions in luxury tax (by all accounts they're not loving it but they're still doing it). Something I doubt we'll ever see from the Brewers franchise despite it being in the same small market.
  8. My issue with a lot of this (not with your opinion but with how the season played out) is if Rodgers was hurt to the point that the Packers missed the playoffs directly because of it then Love should have been starting. That they made the decision to ride an injured Rodgers out is near inexcusable but clearly some ego massaging was going on there. Second, they needed an epic run at the end of the season just to have the chance to make the playoffs. They were not a good football team, they beat 4 playoff teams, 3 by 6 pts or fewer, and only one of those made it to the divisional round and that's because Dallas played against Tampa Bay. I don't think playing Rodgers or Love would have made that much difference in the end. Again, rhetorical question, in that scenario why not play Love? Could they make the playoffs with Love this season? Sure, anything is possible, there are good players on this team and who knows what the draft might bring. But I agree with what you said, expecting something like Rodgers' first starting season at 6-10 feels more likely and that's what I had in mind thinking about Love's first year starting regardless of when that finally comes.
  9. Maybe they don't get the Jets 1st free and clear but I could see a pick swap from 15 up to 13 being part of it.
  10. This is honestly what I've assumed for the last couple seasons with the "will he or won't he" be traded shenanigans. It's hard to expect playoffs in year one of Jordan Love under center, especially considering they didn't make the playoffs last year WITH Rodgers. I'm a little surprised people seem to think they'll still compete this season when/if Rodgers is traded. I think it's a big reason that Rodgers is amenable to a trade in the first place, that him staying in Green Bay isn't going to translate to being an upper-tier contender.
  11. I've seen stuff about them getting a 2nd and maybe a conditional 3rd in 2024. There was an article I read last night, or maybe it was a tweet, that said that apparently the Packers aren't concerned about holding out to get the absolute best trade value, their focus is about simply getting something fair to get the trade done. Of course I would be thrilled to get the Jets 1st round pick this season so I'm still hoping, just feeling like it's not going to happen.
  12. It's really good. That the source material is a video game doesn't really mean much, the producers of the show are taking the outline and major plot points from the game and filling in story and character development around that. If you were playing the game the scenes that take 3 to 5 minutes of show screen time, like entering the university and walking through the abandoned corridors and rooms, in the game there would be search quests, problem solving, more enemy encounters, finding equipment upgrades and stuff like that that could take 20 minutes to an hour to explore. While I'm familiar with the story the game told I can't be sure the show will adhere to everything in the game or if they might choose to do some things differently. So the suspense is there even though I have a good idea what is coming.
  13. I'm 3 episodes in, breaking there to watch the Bucks. I just laughed out loud at the last line of that episode. What a crazy show, not at all what I expected. You seriously can't prepare for the actual show you're getting from what the guy is explaining about what happened to him in the first episode. If anyone is curious there's only 6 episodes, the first 5 are between 30 to 40 minutes and the last one is around an hour so you can get through it quickly.
  14. I'm not as confident for this one that they'll bring it back. I hope they do. MLB Network, in my observation anyway which I guess doesn't mean much, doesn't seem to have the same pull as the NFL Network does. I could see YouTube TV just letting it go and not trying real hard to get an agreement. Maybe they'll look at the number of subscriber cancellations to see if there's a noticeable bump. I guess that would be an incentive to folks out there that are thinking of dropping YouTube TV to give it a go, maybe that will help bring it back.
  15. I'm higher risk. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer early 2021. She's doing great now, they found it probably as early as they possibly could have. But in the early going after her diagnosis they ran a bunch of additional tests on her and they found that she had a CHEK2 gene mutation that made her more at risk for cancer. She went from only having to have a couple lymph nodes removed to the doctor recommending a full double mastectomy. It was a big bummer for her but it's a no brainer to eliminate as much risk of a relapse as possible. CHEK2 is hereditary so the doctor also told her to have all her siblings and her kids (me and my brother) to get tested to see if we had the mutation as well. We both do and I'm pretty sure at least 2 of her sibs did as well. In men with CHEK2 the cancer risk is higher for the prostate and colon. I also had 6 polyps removed which was a bit more than normal and the nurse told me that will bump me up from getting a colonoscopy every 10 years to every 5 instead, or at least unless the next test shows fewer polyps I guess. EDIT: Well a couple hours later I got a call from the doctor's office with results of my colonoscopy. They said all of the polyps were benign and I won't have to have another for 10 years. So there ya go. Still feel like I'm probably better off going the old fashioned route but who knows what advancements may happen in the next decade.
  16. Sounds awful. My stomach discomfort lasted around 5 hours, I slept through some of it and watched some TV to try to distract myself the rest of the time. Didn't eat anything else of substance the rest of the night. I think I had a granola bar around midnight. I definitely would have struggled if I had to work while feeling like that but I'm working from home so... I probably could get away with a slacker day on the clock. Fortunately it didn't come to that. Long story alert: don't waste time reading if you don't want to. You mentioning your boss telling you to go home brought back a memory of an instance where the exact opposite happened for me. I worked for a fast food chain in my late high school years. One summer weekend I had gone with some friends to Noah's Ark. I had forgotten to bring sunblock and for whatever reason I didn't buy any or borrow any, hard to recall if anyone else even had some. Suffice to say, by the end of the day I had a pretty nasty sunburn. Man I was dumb, I could feel my skin was hot as the day was winding down but it's never as bad in the moment as it's going to be as more time passes. My shoulders and upper arms ended up covered in blisters. Not good times. Next day I was supposed to work, called them up and begged to have the day off because I was feeling terrible. The assistant manager answered, he was a guy I didn't have much of a rapport with, I was pretty well liked by management otherwise, especially the manager but this assistant manager was newer and for whatever reason he didn't know me well enough or didn't care or maybe he was even jealous that the manager liked me, I don't know, but he decided to be a big tool and express doubt that I was telling the truth or felt like I was exaggerating just to get out of work without finding a replacement. To be fair a lot of high school kids are super flaky with jobs like this and as I said he didn't know me real well. So he tells me if I don't come in I'd be fired. Or at least he implied it convincingly enough for me to believe him so I sucked it up and reported for my shift, half believing that when he saw me he'd realize I wasn't trying to pull a fast one and send me home. Nope, everyone but him, he was one of those guys that would never admit when they're wrong. I was red like a lobster. Everybody could see it. People were asking me why I was there and I was like, dude told me I better show up or else. The guy didn't make a lot of eye contact with me and I worked for most of my scheduled shift, 5 or 6 hours. Oh, I worked in the back with the grills and fryers and there was no air conditioning so it was like 100 degrees back there (yay 80s!). It really sucked. After the lunch rush the guy comes up to me and says, take out all the garbage and then I guess you can go home. I thought, "Geez Louise, thanks for being such a swell guy." Anybody could have taken the garbage out and it would have taken 15 minutes but I could barely raise my arms above my head and I'm supposed to throw all the bags of garbage into the trash compactor behind the restaurant which was above shoulder level. It took me about a half hour so I think I got to go home a whole 30 minutes before my shift ended anyway. So kind and thoughtful. He didn't stick around too long, I wasn't sorry to see him go.
  17. Colonoscopy. The procedure itself was fine. The prep, as those that go through it know, is the worst part. Anyway, having turned 50 a few months ago, I had my first one yesterday. I was craving real food, wasn't exactly hungry, just the fact that I could not eat made the desire to eat stronger. Fully aware I would probably regret it after the fact (spoiler alert: I did), I planned on going to a local diner immediately after being released from the procedure. So I had breakfast in the afternoon, scrambled eggs, hash browns (with a copious amount of ketchup), toast and a Belgian waffle. Carb city. It was delicious. Very satisfying after around 36 hours of no solid food. I want to think the indigestion and stomach discomfort several hours later was worth it. It both was and wasn't. I probably won't do the same thing next time but I'll want to. LOL
  18. Now that you've seen Knives Out you can watch the next one, "Glass Onion". I should take my own advice, I've been meaning to watch it for weeks now lol.
  19. I think mentioning Ellie in the second game is already a spoiler for those that don't know anything from the game at all. There is always the chance that due to the second game angering so many fans they could go a completely different direction and thus remove some plot armor but... As far as the first two episodes go it's been really good. The first 30ish minutes of episode 1 were pretty much iconic when it comes to the harrowing experience of Joel, his daughter Sarah and Joel's brother Tommy just like how the game began the story and it was really beautifully done. The casting of Pedro Pascal as Joel is a home run, I don't think I could have pictured a more perfect match for that character. Going forward I don't know that I'd expect to see things go shot for shot the way the game did but more that they'll hit major plot points and game events and fill in the rest of the show with realistic storyline while fleshing out some of the peripheral things that didn't get as much time in the game. There's kind of a lot of repetitive things that happen during game play that they won't need to keep hitting on for television so that will allow for more character and world building, What I've enjoyed are each of the first two episode's opening scenes where they've looked back at the world before things went bad (or just as things are starting to go bad in episode 2) that weren't in the game at all. This show is doing everything right so far between blending game cannon and supplementing other things to enrich the world. Pretty exciting stuff so far.
  20. I frequently get offers to accept a later delivery, sometimes like 4-5 days, and they award digital rewards dollars as a credit that you can use towards Amazon's digital content. If you stack up enough of these digital rewards dollars you can use them to rent or buy movies on Prime Video at a discount or even for free if you have enough to cover the purchase price. Not a bad trade off if you don't actually need the 2 day shipping. If you don't want movies you can opt for Kindle eBooks, Amazon Appstore apps or Amazon Music downloads. One thing, they make it almost impossible to find your balance of accrued rewards. Below is a link that you can view your balance and see when rewards dollars will expire. https://www.amazon.com/norushcredits?ref_=ya_d_l_payment_methods_norushcredit
  21. Contreras will have months to adjust his frame of mind plus all of spring training to assimilate into his new team's culture. Schoop was traded at the trade deadline, from his original club and all that familiarity, and pretty much thrown right into the fire with expectations that he would produce and help boost a playoff run. Also I'd say Contreras' feelings aren't really so much an indictment of the Brewers as it is leaving a Braves club that's right up there with the Dodgers and Mets as top tier WS contenders. Even if we put on the rosiest of rose colored glasses the Brewers are just not on that level right now. Not many teams are.
  22. Yes, this. I'm seeing far too many assumptions across many topics that Frelick and co. are going to be day 1 members of the opening day roster. It's been pretty rare that the Brewers have brought guys up ahead of time and I feel like the times they have were times they simply couldn't afford not to. I think Hader's call up was right on the fringe and the club ended up being a day or two early on him. I believe Hiura was called up early as an injury replacement, then was sent back down after a few weeks with the team and I think we all remember how unpopular of a decision that was. Anyway I really do think they'll play the waiting game again with Frelick and perhaps others. Doesn't mean there won't be a circumstance where they eventually get called up for a trial run though.
  23. Remember kids, no successful person was 100% popular and there was always that one pesky dentist that didn't agree with the other 9.
