  1. Ah yes, today's edition of "former teammate and close friend" in the news cycle is John Kuhn. LOL this is getting ridiculous. Does Aaron have these guys on his payroll? I can't keep track of all the guys out there speaking for him. Aaron, buddy, you've got a big mouth, maybe you can use it to speak for yourself. So Kuhn thinks maybe Aaron could stay. The previous close friends must not have been doing their jobs right. Or is it he sees the wind blowing in a direction he didn't think would happen? Honestly the message didn't sound much different otherwise. Maybe he really thought he could get Gute fired. They keep bringing up his contract too as if it hasn't come out that the Packers have offered him an extension that would make him the highest paid player and give him the extra guaranteed years he's still saying he wants but for some reason declined because it was "too late." It's funny, I watch clips of the talking heads spouting off with the narrative of how the Packers have done wrong by Aaron Rodgers. Yesterday, I think it was Rich Eisen, he says something along the lines of, "Have you noticed everyone in the national media are in Rodgers' corner but the fans and local media in Green Bay and Wisconsin aren't?" He found that fascinating. Yeah, how about that?
  2. Nothing that happens from here absolves Love from being criticized for his play. I'm also not sure Love will for sure be handed the starting job if Rodgers gets traded, the Packers are likely to acquire a veteran to compete for the job this season. There are going to be fans that are full throated Rodgers supporters no matter what, there will just be a lot fewer of them because of the way it's going down.
  3. The longer this goes on and the more things that keep getting added to the story I think Aaron Rodgers has given the Packers a tremendous gift: A way to trade him, wash their hands of him, get some value back from him and have the majority of the fan base mostly be fine with it. Because I guarantee if things had gone the way Rodgers feared, a scenario where Rodgers continues to play at a high level but the Packers decide to move on in 2022 anyway to begin the Jordan Love evaluation era, the fans would scream bloody murder and riot in the streets (ok not actually) like when the Favre stuff happened. They wouldn't have been able to do it. Now they can.
  4. Couldn't agree more about replay. Not much faith in it right now. Literally can't predict the outcomes. Maybe they should just flip a coin, it seems more fair.
  5. There have been pick swaps negotiated in NFL trades. If a team holds their own 1st rounder and another team's 1st rounder in next season's draft they can offer the better pick to a team they trade with. I'm certain that just happened in this last draft but I don't want to look up which teams did it. Actually that's not technically a pick swap but the rest of what I said is accurate. I feel like there have been actual pick swaps in the NFL as well, where one time gives up their higher pick and takes the other team's lower pick.
  6. This could just be too soon for Braun as well. I got the idea he might entertain returning for a playoff run late in the season but it didn't sound much like he wanted a full season of baseball and May 5th is probably much too close to that for his liking.
  7. I'm good with it until I hear something that convinces me I should be worried. The dude had a clean MRI and spent his last stretch on the IL right there in the dugout hanging out with his teammates instead of laid up in bed because his back hurt too much to function. They're saying it's his back because that's where he's feeling pain, I'm starting to wonder if it's more nerve related. I don't want to speculate too much but there are lots of good doctors out there I have faith they'll figure this out.
  8. I'm having a hard time rationalizing the decision to rest them one day after being reinstated too but I don't think it's the players that want to take the day off, it's the manager/front office. I wouldn't call the players soft I think the guys in charge are just being what almost seems unreasonably cautious with them. I'm thinking they must have some research to back up their reasoning I'm just having a difficult time seeing it.
  9. I think what hurts most about Hiura's struggles right now is that his bat was the only reason drafting him made sense. He was nearly destined to be a DH right from the start, drafted by a NL team and there were probably more than a few opportunities to trade him when his value was sky high for pieces that made a lot more sense for this team. They gambled on his bat and right now that gamble is looking pretty bad. It's way too early to give up hope on him but it's really discouraging that this is happening right now,
  10. The Broncos could still offer to swap 2021 1st round picks with the Packers, Surtain for Stokes. This was something that I thought could happen after Thursday's draft since they both went CB. Who knows, maybe Gute really likes Stokes and doesn't want to swap but it's still an option.
  11. If anyone has ESPN+ there's an interesting article by Bill Barnwell about what 7 teams could be in on a Rodgers trade and what trade offers each of those teams could make. Have to say, I didn't see too much that I disagreed with in what he put forward. I'm not sure how fans of the other teams might feel about those offers. I think Barnwell treated the situation pretty fairly and stayed away from the sensationalist material that has been smeared around the internet since last Thursday. First off, he claimed that the move that made the most sense was Rodgers staying with Green Bay. I think this article alone made my subscription payment for this month worth it.
  12. I'm willing to think that the Kumerow thing probably bothered Rodgers but really is being blown up as some huge thing in the media when it's more likely just one of the little things that pile up and add to the whole. I'm also willing to believe AJ Hawk when he shared his opinion that he doesn't believe that Rodgers is demanding the GM be fired. Which I will admit is the one rumor that has gotten my dander up in this whole soap opera, because to me a "it's him or me" declaration (between AR and BG) is the height of utter stupidity and simply a non-starter if I'm the Packers and negotiating with Rodgers. If he's going to be that petty then I wash my hands of him right there if he doesn't come back around to logic and reality. I wanted TT fired towards the end but if Favre had made the same demand during his time I would have said Favre was nuts and just being a baby.
  13. Yes I definitely have that impression, what concerns me more is if the GM is making personnel moves and even LaFleur isn't in the loop, we can have opinions on if we think it's fair or not that Rodgers have more of a say in things but there's a real problem if the GM is leaving out the HC. If Gute is not leaving out the HC from these decisions then I think it's fair to say Rodgers is being unreasonably particular in who he's casting the stink eye of blame at for all of his ouchy feelings.
  14. Is it your opinion then that the GM is not consulting with his head coach before making such a change? Because I think Matt LaFleur might be a little more plugged in to how his franchise, HoF QB feels about throwing to Jake Kumerow. I just really find it hard to believe that everything falls on Brian Gutekunst for these moves Rodgers doesn't like and wants more input in. Drafting Jordan Love, sure that situation makes sense, but not the 5th string WR.
  15. I think you can add that cutting Kumerow a day after Rodgers praised the guy, might have even felt like a 'screw you, Aaron' decision - done to show who was boss. Was that what the front office was trying to do? Probably not. That just seems really stupid to try and upstage your star player just to prove a point. But people have done dumber things out of spite or jealousy or revenge. I'm not defending any of the people involved - because usually blame can go around to most everyone in situations like this. Just trying to say it's not that Rodgers thought Kumerow was the answer to all his issues - just that he went out on a limb for the guy in the media, and the front office made the move in spite of that. To me, this demonstrates that the two sides aren't talking. I mean, if the most important guy in your company says they value a person, perhaps you should try and understand why. It just seems like a disconnect with both parties - which should not be happening on an NFL team. If that is happening, there's something seriously wrong with stuff and it needs to be addressed. This has me wondering, does the GM have to religiously watch/listen for every quote he gives in interviews? Is there an intern whose responsibility it is to gather the daily quotes their players make? Seems like that would get exhausting. Is it possible he just wasn't aware Rodgers just said something about Kumerow and made a personnel move just as part of churning the roster? I'm not trying to be snarky either I'm genuinely curious. It could have easily been an innocent coincidence.
  16. 0 would still be the bare minimum id expect. Tbh I'm pleasantly surprised they got 2 in .. Yeah... I was trying for a smidge of optimism but I can't fault you. That was still a very Brewers result was my point.
  17. Fans: Hey Brewers loaded the bases with no one out! Brewers: Now watch as we score the bare minimum you'd expect from this situation while failing to get a big hit.
  18. Yup, 90 ABs for Garcia...if you want to add more terrible ABs he had 181 last year. Not vouching that Taylor should have stayed and dumped Garcia...but not like Garcia’s large sample of sucking should make Taylor’s good 31 AB be irrelevant. I’m sure Taylor will have plenty of time to prove himself over the next few months. If he still looks like a competent hitter I’m guessing they will not have much problem dumping Garcia for him (if Garcia still hasn’t figured out how to hit). I think Taylor's 31 ABs is irrelevant all on its own. He had a hot streak and now doesn't get to stick around to come back down to earth, which he already had started doing going 1 for his last 12 ABs. I enjoyed Taylor looking like a competent hitter, he looked real good while a lot of guys were looking real bad. I'm not ready to call him a MLB player until he has some downs to go with his ups.
  19. Taylor: 31 ABs. Garcia: 90 ABs. Let's not blur logic too far.
  20. [sarcasm]They probably want him to throw batting practice to their hitters every day.[/sarcasm] For real, good luck to him. The Dodgers bullpen did look fairly weak and that was against a team that was having trouble coming up with a clutch hit with RISP.
  21. If Aaron is upset about Kumerow, might he also be upset his buddy Tim Boyle got let go? Pure speculation but it had been mentioned more than once that they were good friends, now his good friend was let go by the Packers to give his spot to "He Who Should Not Have Been Drafted."
  22. Late round draft choices and UDFAs, if they make the active roster at all, are much more likely to be contributing on special teams than in the base offense or defense. A few break through as diamonds in the rough but they're basically lottery tickets or developmental players on the practice squad.
