  1. It needs a documentary...for the rain delays. Even after all that they are only down 2
  2. I have never seen anything like that half inning. That was unbelievable.
  3. This game isn't as fun as it was in the first inning.
  4. Junior pounding the bottom of that zone, I dig it.
  5. man on third less than 1 out for shaw...cue strikeout or pop-out
  6. Even a .650 OPS from him would make such a huge difference for this team
  7. Maybe just a change of scenery for the former first rounder? Gotta think Corey Ray was more deserving, no?
  8. Looks like Clint Coulter was promoted to AAA according to his Twitter
  9. I'm not sure giving both of our .300 hitters the day off is appropriate when we are wanting to go on a little run here? Someone needs to get on base! Thames will already be replacing Braun today if Thames is healthy... so if we insist on Broxton getting a start it would be at the expense of Cain or Yelich which is fine if one of them needs a rest, but please not both? They have plenty of off days to finish the year so I don't think Cain nor Yelich will need a day off. Broxton shouldn't get a start the rest of the year unless someone gets hurt. Late game defensive replacement and getting some ABs that way? Absolutely.
  10. This is a bad take. You want to get rid of one of our MVP candidates who is earning $500k this year and under team control next year and arbitration the next three years after that?
  11. That offense that wasn't doing anything all game got the team to within one run of tying the score. You dont put out your mop up reliever, whom wasn't deemed good enough to warrant a roster spot for the Padres, for a second inning when we had made it a winnable game and give back the two runs we had scored in the top of the inning, sucking the life out of the rest of the team. Lyles is our new Oliver Drake, whom is on his fifth team this year BTW. A guy who has a +4.5 ERA and a lifetime 5.35 ERA is not someone who can cover multiple innings. And no one is saying use Hader, or whomever else, every time in a close game we are trailing, but it sure would be nice to see him pitch more than once a week. He only has 39 appearences and 58 IP on the year. How fresh do we need him to be? Most relief pitchers have those numbers before the All Star Break. 58.1 IP for Hader and 56.2 for Jeffress. That is 21st and 28th in the MLB, respectively. 62 innings gets you in the top 10. I would say they are being used quite a bit. If our offense was better they would be used more so maybe our offense is the issue.
  12. Would also like to point out that Jack Flaherty was incredible. Great stuff and great command of his pitches. How do we get one of those guys?
  13. I am fine with CC not bringing in Hader or Jeffress. Your offense wasn't doing anything all game and we were trailing. Lyles may not have been the best guy to bring in but he can cover multiple innings and I am sure it was CCs intention to let him just finish off the game. I will agree that I think they are babying Hader but you cannot bring him in the game every time its close. I like to think they are keeping him and Jeffress fresh for the stretch run in September and will be utilizing them both much more. Its a rough period for our bullpen with Williams just getting back, Soria on the DL, Albers on the DL, and Burnes struggling. Still plenty of time left and we still have a wild card spot at the moment, but we just really need to get those guys healthy. Until then, you aren't going to pitch your best guys when you are trailing because you certainly don't want Jennings or Lyles having to protect leads late in a game.
  14. I am fine with Hader not coming in here. Offense has barely shown anything tonight and its the bottom of the order coming up so chances they score a run are slim enough. Can maybe see him start warming up if we get a guy on base next inning.
  15. If they are going to go on an 8 game win streak, I prefer it to be 8 games to end the year I don't know if I agree with that. If they wait for the last 8 games of the year, they might already be eliminated. (I'm not normally part of the crowd posting negatives either, FYI) Mainly because if they go on an 8 game win streak to end the year they might be hot going into a wild-card game. But I am nitpicking...an 8 game win streak at any point would be just fine be me.
  16. Hopefully he doesn't put up a "Peralta" tonight. 30 pitches and 2 or 3 runs in the first.
  17. If they are going to go on an 8 game win streak, I prefer it to be 8 games to end the year
  18. The main benefit for Tampa was unloading a few million, which we could have easily taken on. I've never heard of a "PTBNL or cash considerations" being anything of significance. In almost all cases, if a PTBNL is significant it is known ahead of time. It is going to be a light return. IF it ends up being a player, probably something along the caliber of a Yeison Coca PTBNL. The PTBNL in the Chris Archer trade was Shane Baz. 2017 first round pick and top 100 prospect.
  19. Well, it did move the needle because their offense is much, much better now. So they were successful trades. The offense is better because the players we had all year that weren't hitting worth a flip are hitting better now. Braun has been hot after four months of hitting .230, Aguilar has gotten out of his slump and Arcia, Perez and Pina are hitting better. Moustakas has been great, but to say the Shoop trade has been a success to this point is just an out and out lie. Villar on the other hand is .271/.340/.715 with Baltimore. I am sure .715 slugging was a typo...but now we are upset we don't have Villar? C'mon. Everyone is just overreacting after a slow start for Schoop. Yelich is 4-35 in the last 8 games are we going to start giving him crap too?
  20. Yeah I don't understand it. He had a double and laced another into the gap with the bases loaded that ended up getting caught.
  21. The Brewers have been a 0.500 team since the end of May. They will likely limp to the finish line with 85-89 wins. The low end is probably definitely out of the Playoffs and the upper end may not be enough to make the 1 game elimination. This is not a very good team right now. Adding 2 batters at the trade deadline has hardly moved the needle. Not a lot to be happy about (oh we didn't lose 2 in Chicago, Yay!)... Well, it did move the needle because their offense is much, much better now. So they were successful trades.
