  1. Sounds like Green made an amazing unassisted putout at 3B in the 4th inning.
  2. Lo Cain starts off his season with a single and a SB. I really hope he stays healthy and makes it tough to be kept in AA for too long. Edit: And an RBI double for Lawrie. Huntsville up 1-0. Giddeyup.
  3. I'd like to add my thanks as well. Throughout the summer there is something to look forward to (Brewers baseball related), literally, everyday. 'Tis a rare day indeed, when all teams in the organization have a bad day. Many thanks!
  4. I will never again sit on the 3rd base side during a day game without employing a liberal application of sun screen.
  5. I'm completely interested. What's the expectation in terms of attendance? I may have a couple Thursdays that pull me away for work? If that's not an issue for you all, count me in.
  6. +1 trwi7. I just finished reading the article and came by bf.net to see what folk had to say. You took the words right out of my mouth. Once a Cardinal, always a Cardinal.
  7. This is going back a little ways, but when I was a kid I was a huge of Brett Butler, Robby Thompson, and Pete Incaviglia.
  8. You can't go wrong with either of those options. They're both - basically - the same kit. However, it looks like in the kit from midwest supplies you get more stuff. It's nice that they include the fermenter, bottling bucket, and glass carboy. The carboy is super helpful for secondary fermentation and allowing your bear clear up a little bit. If you assume that they quality of the products is about the same and price matters, get the midwest supplies kit. I suppose the biggest benefit to purchasing the northern brewer kit is that they're located right in west allis so if you need any type of replacements, they're easy to come by. I've been to northern brewer and they've been helpful every time I've been there (though that is something you ought to find at any homebrew store).
  9. That's not totally true. I seem to remember some baby-ish behavior from him with the White Sox. In particular I remember a year in which he demanded his whole guaranteed contract be paid to him that year, versus over the duration of the contract. Anyone else remember this too? It wasn't always sea shells and balloons with Frank. I very much agree with you though that he was arguably the most feared hitter of his day. Though you could make strong cases for Albert Belle and Junior Griffey too.
  10. Yup, I've been brewing for a couple years now. Was actually just at Northern Brewer yesterday to pick up a kit and brewed last night. I'm waiting on bottles to ESB to be ready in another couple weeks. I've not had the time or life circumstances to get too deep into the brewing process (read: full mash brewing) but would like to do that at some point. What I'd really like to do is start kegging. I figure that if I did that, I'd actually brew more frequently because you wouldn't have to wait for the bottles to carbonate. Your own brew always tastes good and a bit of personal pride is involved. At least for getting started out, I always say that if you can boil water and sanitize a bucket (or carboy), you can brew your own beer.
  11. Anyone ever been before? I'm going for the first time in a couple of weeks. Any suggestions on how to make the most of the event? Anything I ought not miss out on?
  12. +1 on the Primanti Bros. suggestion. It's a Pittsburgh classic.
  13. Indeed! Thanks for updating the thread, Nottso, and even moreso for your generosity of time and wisdom in helping me out. I never would have felt as comfortable as I did on Saturday if I didn't have you providing guidance. I'll be heading back this afternoon with my wife so that I can pick it up!
  14. Nottso, check your inbox. I PMed you.
  15. Wow. Big-time "thank-you" for that post, it's exactly what I was hoping for (one of many reasons I love bf.net!). I suspect that my search will intensify in July. If/when the need arises, I'll be sure to seek your assistance. Thanks!
  16. If you're going to be downtown during the "Taste" I'd first suggest not taking your car. Use the "L".
  17. I've already started to do that which is kind of what inspired my post. I don't really want to spend more than $3000 if possible. Thought I'm not totally certain yet, I'm guessing I'll have a strong preference for a standard/cruiser style bike. I suspect that for starting out, something around 750cc's ought to be fine. I would like something with a bit more power to cart my wife and I around, but I figured that for starters, a 750-ish type bike wouldn't be bad. Instead of suggestions on specific bikes, I'd like to hear about specific things I need to look for in buying a used motorcycle as I don't want to be "taken for a ride".
  18. Well, the subject pretty much says it all. I'm taking the safety class over the next few weeks and after that plan on buying an affordable used bike. If any folks out there would be willing to post suggestions as a list of things to be mindful of, I'd be mighty grateful. Thanks!
  19. Jeffress Rogers Brewer Salome Wooten
  20. Their Mai Bock this spring on the other hand is an amazing brew. I gave their Maibock a ride and it didn't blow my hair back. It was't bad, it just didn't do a whole lot for me. The doppel, on the other hand... Maybe, I need to drink some more, but it seems as though NG is raising the bar a bit.
  21. Granted, there's a load of WI beers that I haven't had yet, but I'm developing a strong feeling for New Glarus and that's mostly off of my opinion of their wheats. I must say though, I do not really like Fat Squirrel or the Coffee Stout. In particular, int's not that the Coffee Stout is bad by any stretch, for it's style it's a great example, I've just hit my limit on coffee stouts. Capital deserves all the credit in the world though for their lagers as they really do a consisent and admirable job with them.
  22. Well, last night I had my first New Glarus Black Wheat and found it delicious. That is a great dunkel. The thing I couldn't get over was how creamy it was. In other news, I've landed some Capital Blonde Dopplebock and a Founder's Kentucky Breakfast Stout and will be giving them a ride later this evening. I can't wait to try that KBS.
  23. Well, today the agreement of sale was signed for my house. To celebrate (as much as one can when selling their home these days), I'm sipping an Avery Maharaja Double IPA and my wife is enjoying a Heavy Weizen from Southern Tier. What can I say, I really like them both. The Maharaja is doing everything I want a double IPA to do. I don't go for them too often, but when I do I'm always feel like I'm enjoying one for the first time. It's a happy night.
  24. Just got home from dinner where I thoroughly enjoyed a Brother Thelonius.
  25. The 94.5 Lake FM comercials in Milwaukee.
