  1. All things considered, Rasmussen was not horrible. They should attribute that run to Manfred, not the pitcher.
  2. I’m going to keep telling myself that accepting a series split under the circumstances is just fine...really, it’s just fine...
  3. Man, Hiura looks like he has no idea what to do up there. I’m half expecting him to hold the bat by the barrel next time up. I feel for the guy. It’s got to be a lonely feeling.
  4. I was really excited about that bobble. Then I remembered we had a catcher running. Dang it.
  5. Not the umps on the field who messed up. That was bang bang, I can see how the ump at 2B missed the call, but it is inexcusable for them to fudge it up in New York. Pathetic. I agree—that is a completely fair point. But we wouldn’t have even needed a steal if the field umps would call obstruction even 1/10th as sensitively as it was called on Godley. It’s starting to pile up.
  6. I don’t like this. WR going soon before we pick...this is when Gutey gets twitchy and starts filling up the QB room...
  7. Also forgotten is that Rodgers wanted Jimmy Graham, as in, that was his guy: So you’ll forgive me if I take the argument that Rodgers needs to be telling the front office who to go get with about a Dead Sea level of salt. All these other arguments and justifications (Rodgers needs help, Rodgers needs input on personnel, Rodgers needs to be in California) are just background noises. The real issue has to be something else: Rodgers wants clarity, and/or he’s pissed about Love.
  8. If the relationship is irreparable, Gute could always call up Rodgers when GB is on the clock: “Hey, Aaron? Yeah, we’re up. Who you thinking? WR? Yeah that sounds good. Ttyl.” Hand in your card: D-lineman. Text Rodgers: “I’m not stuck here with you. You are stuck here with me.”

  10. Over the years, I’ve thought of a lot of opposing players as “annoyingly good,” but I can’t imagine any Brewers players that would make an opposing fan think that about them.

  12. Patriots a wild card? It’s not Belichick’s MO, but maybe watching Tom win a championship in his first year out of NE has his competitive fire up. I’m still thinking not.
  13. I’m inclined to think this until the ink is dry on his deal out of town.
  14. 1) Florio has basically zero credibility on this issue as far as I’m concerned. His entire schtick is tabloid sensationalism. Oh, and he’s a Vikings fan, so it’s all motivated reasoning. 2) If any of that is true, why should Gute give a singular rodent’s posterior about Rodgers’ television career? IF he gets dealt, it’ll be to the team that gives the best return. California won’t be underwater for another few decades, at least, so Rodgers can wait a couple more years.
  15. Rodgers is more than smart enough to understand that the Packers can’t really trade him now due to cap limitations, and organizationally, investing in bringing back so much of the team and then suddenly rebuilding at QB would be unpalatable, to say the least. Basically, he understands his leverage is considerable, but not irresistible. The question then becomes, what does Rodgers want, and what is Gute/Murphy willing to give him? Does he want to know, once and for all, that he will be able to quit his career in GB on his terms? Does he want more money? Does he want personnel input? All of the above? The only people who know the answer to any of those questions are the ones who aren’t talking. All will become known in time.
  16. How much would Seattle have to add to their side for a Rodgers for Wilson deal to work for Gute? Does it just boil down to how much Gute hates Rodgers right now? I’m still not sure I buy all this, but the humor of the two franchises dealing with their disgruntled QBs like this tickles me.
  17. Huge, if true. That’s...hard to believe, though.
  18. I don’t know if I fully buy all this yet. Part of me is still under the impression I had during the McCarthy years, where Rodgers was clearly more critical of things than he let on in public, but not nearly as much as the media seemed to suggest (especially the tabloid rags like pro football talk, etc). However, I could see this being true, and I think the team should definitely listen, but for an absolute king’s ransom. You want a ticket to the Conference championship? Pony up. That said, I would absolutely hate seeing him in San Francisco or New England. I’d take a divisional trade over that outcome. It would take 1st round picks for the next decade to make me feel good about either of those scenarios.
