  1. I get this take. But you could also look at this game and think, “huh, even a rebuilding team can run into some runs every once in a while, I bet Cincy isn’t going to just sleepwalk to a sweep in any of their series down the stretch.”
  2. Our last series against the Pirates this year, so it would be nice to capitalize. Big leads, low-stress innings from the staff and pen, and 2 or 3 more road wins would be the just the ticket.
  3. Losing it? Botched grounder, catcher missed a pitch and a chopper in front of the plate. Bad luck, questionable defense, still pitching great. Sorry, comment was half blue. “Losing it” relative to his rest of game. I was serious about possibly pulling him, though. Glad he could finish 8.
  4. If it were me, I’d go up there to bunt just to avoid being a footnote in somebody’s record book page, but obviously, I hope the Cubs go down more valiantly.
  5. Contreras is definitely the leader in the clubhouse for me.
  6. Why did Tellez set up on the very back of the bag there? Give your pitcher a little stretch and extension on a tough play there, big guy.
  7. If the bullpen ends up sinking this team…that’s going to burn a lot
  8. Escobar looks like a middle schooler standing next to Perdomo. My goodness.
  9. Good, old-fashioned woodshedding out there. You love to see it.
  10. [sarcasm]Really going to give the fresh crowd their money’s worth out there.[/sarcasm]
  11. I’m tempted to say that was too interesting, but at this point, just win, baby. Don’t let the division chasers see you stumble.
  12. He can’t really be this bad. That kind of a decline is just about unbelievable. There has to be something going on. As it is, the highest compliment I can pay this team is that they have accomplished miracles while getting absolutely nothing from their nine-figure face of the franchise this year. They better keep it up.
  13. Norris gave up a walk and a bomb to two lefties! I mean, I can cut a guy some slack for being in a position that isn’t suited to his repertoire or skill set, but it’s a mid inning relief appearance with lefty-lefty matchups. If he isn’t here for this exact scenario, why is he here?
  14. As in, the Brewers blow a seven game lead with under two months to go? Yeah, if that happens, losing a game to the best team in baseball isn’t going to be anywhere near the top of my list of concerns, no matter how brutal it was. The Giants being the best team in baseball, which is debatable, is irrelevant. It was a sure win and Avi blew it. Fine, call them whatever you want. But I won’t even lose sleep over the game they dropped to the Pirates this week. It’s baseball. And if the Brewers collapse (and as an aside, are we really this wounded in our psyches that we have to fixate on this possibility?) I guarantee you there will be worse moments than this down the stretch.
