As in, the Brewers blow a seven game lead with under two months to go? Yeah, if that happens, losing a game to the best team in baseball isn’t going to be anywhere near the top of my list of concerns, no matter how brutal it was.
Probably something about a generally anemic offensive performance tonight making the prospect of any sort of a deficit to overcome a tall order. Or maybe they had something with Buster’s batted ball profile vs Sanchez’s repertoire?
Not like they were going to win every series from here on out. Still a chance to get this one, and if not, go get him tomorrow. A wiser fella once said, sometimes you eat the bar, and sometimes, well, the bar eats you.
I agree it’s not ideal, but I have a feeling there’s not going to be much concern about getting Hader enough work by the end of the regular season. Things will tighten up, and probably soon. This is a short term concern, not a long term one. If he only pitches once every 10 days, he is more likely to be rusty when he is in a tight save situation. One or two less innings now isn’t going to mean he can pitch more innings in September. My point is, I’ll take an outing or two more of rusty Hader in August if he’s more rested and therefore effective in October. He’s going to have to be a horse then.

He’s ring-chasing, and hate or not, the Dodgers are the logical choice. So I guess there’s only one thing left to do, in the immortal words of Jake Taylor…
