  1. Oh yeah, anytime we get to end Seattle’s season in January is a good year. Now go to work and surprise me in a week!
  2. The common denominator on that 2nd and 8 is Rodgers. I think that’s his call there.
  3. I think you have to trust Rodgers to make one play to salt this thing. I don’t love it, but I think that’s the play.
  4. This offense has not exactly played on schedule this half. That’s becoming critically problematic.
  5. Different coaches, different players, different scheme, same result? What do we have to do?
  6. Bulaga is up. Kenny Clark is trying to grind it out, too. Playoffs, baby!
  7. Here comes Mahomes. In the battle between two questionable tacticians at head coach, go with the better QB. Mahomes>Watson, it is that simple. EDIT: Of course, Reid can just take the ball out of Mahomes' hands and let a WR try and throw it for some reason... smh
  8. Houston's special teams giveth, and it taketh away
  9. Hubris
  10. I have to admit I’m loving Hill costing the Chiefs dearly at the most critical time of the season. I think KC deserves to be adversely affected by his presence on their roster.
  11. Pretty awful start for KC. I have a little more faith in Mahomes than I did in Jackson yesterday. I think KC comes back, but with Reid’s postseason track record, it’s looking cloudier for them. Shaky weekend for some home teams...
  12. I don’t want to see Clowney at even 60% health vs. a third-string tackle. I’m fairly alarmed here.
  13. And considering the recent coining of the phrase “wash your hands, wash your butt,” it doesn’t sound like influenza at all. It may be intestinal, and not subject to vaccination. Fluids and rest. The problem is Alex Light was also added to the list with illness, meaning Packers are looking perilously thin at tackle. This is a big deal.
  14. Uh oh, Baltimore...Titans are looking like dragon slayers in the AFC.
  15. I don’t want to get ahead of myself here too much, since I don’t think tomorrow can be taken for granted by any means. But heading back to San Francisco, I think the Packers have as good a chance as anyone else in the NFC to pull it off. That isn’t to say that they have a good chance, to be clear, but in their last matchup, the running game figures weren’t horrible for the Packers, that game just got away from them from the jump and Rodgers was awful. If Rodgers is simply competent and they don’t turn it over, I think they can put in a much better showing than last time, and better than Minnesota today.
  16. Now the dam is breaking. Vikings getting pulverized on the ground. And Cousins has to play catch-up without the benefit of a viable threat to hand it off. This is looking dire for them.
  17. Vikings hanging around here, but look quite overmatched when they are on offense. Four first downs and well under 100 yards of offense in that half; I keep waiting for the dam to burst and San Francisco to go up by several scores, but Minnesota’s D is playing tough. 49er pass rush looks ferocious, but then again, Minnesota’s O-line isn’t phenomenal. Not sure what to glean from this from a rooting standpoint. I expect any NFC Championship matchup to be tough.

  19. Speaking of Carroll, I had a thought while reading this blurb from ESPN’s preview of tomorrow’s game: Officiating nugget: Referee Clete Blakeman's regular-season crew threw the second-fewest flags per game (13.8, one flag more than the Vinovich crew). His regular-season crew threw the NFL's fewest number of flags for defensive holding, illegal contact and pass interference (29). Pete Carroll in midweek practice to his secondary: “We’re gonna knife #17 in the kidneys until we get a flag, then we’re going to do it some more.”

  21. I concur on MM and Jones. While I was as guilty as any for criticizing his use of Jones, part of the issue people have now is based on hindsight. In MM’s tenure, Jones was not the complete back we now know. The dude had to put in work on pass protection and pass catching this off season, and MM didn’t ever get to use any of the results of this hard work. (https://www.packers.com/news/pass-catching-skills-a-constant-focus-for-aaron-jones)
  22. This move does not concern me terribly as defense was and is Dallas’ big problem, and MM has a generally poor track record when it comes to staff on that side of the ball. That being said, I wish him the best, though I won’t go so far as to wish the Cowboys any success. I was kind of hoping he went to someone like the Browns or Giants so I could pull for his team more enthusiastically, but for an offensive guy like him, there’s no better opportunity out there, so I can’t fault him.
  23. I've felt good and bad about playoff matchups, and I've seen wins and losses in both situations. I'm just going to try really hard all week to enjoy this. Playoff football isn't a given anymore, and who knows, may not be again for a generation. I've seen three Super Bowls and two champions emerge out of that, the rest of this is cake by any reasonable measure (outside of the New England Fausts Patriots). I can get stressed about baseball, but I think I've spent quite enough of my life stressed about the Packers. I'm really trying to work on a healthier approach. Let's see if that holds up...
  24. Pederson dialing up designed runs for his 40-year old backup QB with Wentz likely a KO already is a bold strategy.
