  1. Doom and gloom would happen if we got swept by the reds. But we are in such a good spot that even if we revert to the early season salvage game brewers we will be fine That's pretty much what I was saying. In a nutshell, a whole lot would have to go wrong to miss the playoffs. I know this won’t happen because the Brewers may be the most dramatic team of the last decade, but it sure would be nice if the Crew could go into Cincy and get two to take the pressure off. Going 1-2 starts to get a little hairy, especially if one of the trailing teams goes on a little run starting tonight.
  2. A Lux and Buehler offer would make me at least think about it...
  3. He’s not exactly divine, but Hiura giveth, and Hiura taketh away.
  4. I’m concerned that the Cubs are making the Cardinals believe they are a team of destiny. We don’t need that kind of juju out of St. Louis.
  5. There isn’t a clear rule on punishment. I’d imagine the umpire would harass you a little bit to stop it and get back to the game. The rule states if you continue to break the rule they will do something...likely fines. Do mound visit limits apply in the postseason? If so, I think I’d be willing to take the punishment.
  6. Kimbrel is so bad. And Theo’s blaming Maddon for this second half? Theo should probably wear this one. The shine is definitely off the wunderkind GM.
  7. It has been a while since I’ve had the distinct displeasure of listening to this crew for more than an inning or two. It’s brutal. I love them blaming DeJong for Carp’s stupid baserunning. Classic. EDIT: Disregard the above. Thought you meant the Cards tv announcers.
  8. The Cubs look completely worthless. I thought they’d get off the mat for one or two games this weekend, at least, but they just don’t seem to have it in them. They are in absolute free fall.
  9. That was the fastest replay review I’ve ever seen. It took less than ten seconds, it seemed like. All the times CC challenges a call, it feels like ten minutes to get a result.
  10. Nothing wrong with Hiura’s arm on that underhand flip, haha. That inning turned around very quickly, and I like it.
  11. He’s pesky. I fully expect him to be a Cardinal someday.
  12. Here come the Cardinals. Feels inevitable, like the changing of the seasons, or death and taxes.
  13. Well, I guess my take on this is: what I want or root for doesn’t change the outcome one lick. I might as well root for the best possible outcome, right? Unless I believe the Brewers, once in the playoffs, will have to beat the Dodgers at some point to get what I really want (a parade down, what, Wisconsin Avenue??? I just realized I’ve never even had to think about what a championship parade route would actually look like and got a little sad), then maybe I think the wildcard path makes sense. Easier to beat the Dodgers in 5 games rather than 7, since we already saw that movie last year. All things being equal, though, I think I still want the division so as to avoid the one-game scenario. I’ll root for that as long as it’s mathematically possible.
  14. I still think the rooting interest this weekend is Brewers sweep (obviously), then Cards get one more win and Cubs get the other two. I love the idea of two up on Chicago and only one behind St. Louis with six to go. That would be very good wildcard positioning and not an unbelievable chance at a game 163 for the division. First thing is first, though: beat the buccos.
  15. That’ll do, boys. Call them Bachman Turner Overdrive, because they’re taking care of business!
  16. If they even have to bring Hader in...
  17. This is correct. I know because I struck out a lot in elementary school baseball.
  18. Cubs drop the series at home to the Reds. That’s a big time result. Crew needs to lock down solid series wins in the next four days and they should be in good shape for the final week.
  19. Been a really rough homestand for Grandal and I have to worry how fatigued he is right now. I wonder the same with Grisham as he has never had a baseball schedule this deep into the season. I don't expect Grisham in the lineup tomorrow and I'm also anticipating a Grandal day off, Pina returns and Austin at 1st. I thought it was really odd to sit Braun and Cain together tonight. Feels like we could do a better job spreading off days out. I don’t like taking vets out of the lineup like that. I get the logic of the decision, though. If you want to spell them, might as well do it against one of the nastiest righties the Crew is likely to face the rest of this season. As it happens, our lefty hitters didn’t acquit themselves well, either. That’s how the cookie crumbles.
  20. With the Brewers pretty much losing wire to wire tonight, they could rest the better bullpen arms like Hader, Pomeranz, and Suter. They can now provide stronger appearances down the stretch!
