  1. Aren't they like 0-7 vs top 5 teams this season? So due. It's been a tough season but just like playoff wins in NFL tourney wins in college hoops really makes everything look a lot better.
  2. It's all about the guaranteed money; these deals are always artificially inflated to make the agents look good. Players almost never see the last year of the deal before being released or restructured - sometimes the last two years. I think even without the drop in the salary cap it was quite possible that both Smiths got restructured this year and certainly restructured or released before the 2022 season. The real question is going to be 2022. Rodgers, Bakh, Adams, Jones, Clark, Z. Smith, Alexander, Amos, P. Smith... they're already at $197M for 2022 with only 28 players signed, and all of these restructures mean more dead cap space in 2022 if they have to release guys. Preston Smith and Billy Turner, if released, will now account for a combined $11.5M in dead cap space. I would amend that to say it's all about likely to be earned money, I think they are counting on him for a couple of years so his base and roster bonuses in year 1 and 2 is meaningful as well. I will be interested in the details when we see them. In the end I just don't like spending on a RB in today's NFL ad worry about his durability.
  3. I am pretty surprised, would have preferred to franchise him at 8 million and see where we are at next offseason but I am sure his cap hit this season will be less than that. The Packers don't let guys they want go after their rookie deal so I guess we should have expected this. I would also have preffered spending the money on Watt but happy to have Jones back as he is a good player.
  4. I got a bill for $130 for my gold package tickets today, I paid last year and missed the chance to opt out and get my money back so my payment carried over. At first I was really angry about such a large increase and though they were kicking covid losses onto me but it turns out there was no increase and I am paying for the possibility that the 17th game may be NFC this year. Really? The NFL can't get it together so the teams need to bill us for a potential game? I guess we have been seeing it with no cap number while teams need to decide on franchising players but it's a joke they can't get this stuff resolved before billing. I hate Goodell.
  5. Buy one of those TV dinners...it tastes pretty close even getting the soggy and chewy texture. What TV dinners are you talking about? I see someone said totinos below but I have had their pizza rolls and it's hard to believe it's not garbage. I loved school cafeteria pizza and can still remember the taste but never found anything like it. Pizza Villa in West Salem was a recent discovery I had, awesome crust although I would recommend extra cheese.
  6. It sort of seems like they are putting a lot of work into some of these other contracts if they are planning on extending Adams or redoing Rodgers deal. Has there even been any rumors of negotiations with Adams? A quick google search doesn't turn up much. Hopefully they got a good deal with Turner to keep him around for a while, he got exposed at LT in the NFCC but has been a useful player.
  7. After we lost to the Dodgers in game 7 I remember telling friends I was with that we should really be excited as we had 3 young pitchers in Burnes, Peralta, and Woodruff that were maybe better than any crop of pitchers we ever had. I thinking we started calling them the Big 3 that offseason here. It's been sort of a winding road but it seems that optimism was warranted. I think they have always been committed to developing Freddy as a starter, he has teased us before but is still young. I am also bullish on him this season.
  8. King had an ugly end to the season and is injury prone but as bargain FA's go he may not be a bad guy to bring back rather then spend the same $ on someone else. At least the shoulder issues seem to be in the past. He seems like a bad fit for our defense though, not sure how much will change under the new DC.
  9. They just spent nearly 200 million the off-season before last. Also, I would argue Watt's more along the lines of a Charles Woodson signing than a "top tier" FA. With regard to Adams, I'd be shocked if they don't extend him this year. He'll definitely have the leverage...both coming off the season he just came off of, but also having that nearly 17 million dollar cap hit that they'll want to cut by about 66 pct, but I still think it gets done. I'd guess it's probably one of their top priorities right now. Adams and then trying to extend or restructure Rodgers deal. Yes they have spent much more on FA's under Gutes and it has paid off, I meant they have stayed away from the guys who immediately come off the board, the pro bowler types or former high first round picks. I am not sure I ever heard of the Smith's until shortly before or after the Packers signed them although I think that did happen early in FA. I really want Watt but I suspect he is going to get more than the Packers are comfortable with, but maybe the reports of Clev/Pitt being out means he won't get as much as I think. I think Woodson was different, he was younger and still in his prime but for whatever reason NFL teams had soured on him as a FA. You may be right on Adams, the surprise cap decrease may force the early extension. But if they can make it work without doing that, basically letting all the FA's go and only sign bargain guys, that would seem more how the Packers do business than kicking large amounts of money for players this year onto future caps. They probably haven't forgotten Jordy blowing his knee out before he started his extension and Adams would demand a lot of guaranteed money right now. To be clear I am of the opinion the Packers should kick the money down the road and make a run, I am tired of playoff exits. I just don't think they will do it on the scale that is needed right now to make some moves we want like Watt.
  10. If Silverstein has any insider info on the Watt hopes it's only because the Packers are giving him the narrative they want since they know Packer fans are very interested in bringing him here. It could be the Packers inquired but decided the price for a 32 year old player was too high. Yes the cap plays into that but the Packers have stayed out of the top tier FA market I think since the Joe Johnson debacle, they seem to like the 2nd wave guys, even Pickett and Woodson and were guys signed later in the process. Another thing that I don't know if I have seen discussed is they may not be too keen about extending Adams a year early to create cap space. Considering the season he had not a great time for an extension when you can wait a year and see how things fall.
  11. I'm really down on this team. While your statement is certainly true, I see this team as more like the 2013 team that went one and done, losing to Marshall Henderson and Ole Miss 57-46. I don't think the matchup mattered in that game. The team played so badly that they would have lost to just about anyone. I mean, Henderson was 1 of 13 at one point, Ole Miss only scored 57 on offense while doing nothing special on defense, and that team was never in the game. This team is capable of that type of performance. Consider that in the Iowa game that guys not named Potter went 3-27 on TWO point shots. They have just not been fun nor exciting to watch. Agree, I don't really like watching this team at all, probably the least I have watched Badger buckets in 20 years. But I think part of it is they were so good in those back to back Final Four's that we have lost appreciation for just having an OK make the tourney team every year. Even the Hayes/Koenig upper classmen years were a lot more fun than this.
  12. I feel like maybe the golden age of TV ended with GoT. Maybe it's just TV burnout from too much time at home during Covid but I struggle to find any shows worthy of binge watching anymore. I probably have about 6 shows I am in the middle of but I still turn on the TV and can't find anything I want to watch. Was just looking at the Emmy's from last year and maybe Succession is something I should pick up again but like so many other shows I just sort of burned out on it after a season or 2, they just don't suck you in like Breaking Bad or the Sopranos did. I did recently watch The Newsroom for the first time and got through that pretty quick, only 25 episodes or so not sure why it was so short lived. Maybe it's time for a swing back to movies being the big thing again but yeah have to get out of this comic book stuff. You may be right. The last year hasn't been that great but I'll throw Better Call Saul against any show out there right now. If anyone is into mafia crime dramas (and doesn't mind subtitles) there's a good one on HBO Max called Gomorrah. For sure, I had Hulu live which didn't have AMC so waiting for season 5 on netflix right now. It's been so long since season 4 that I forgot how good it was until you mentioned it, I probably need to rewatch to catch up. That is a problem with a lot of shows these days, it shouldn't take 2 years for a new season.

  14. Is Chicago really just a QB away? I sure didn't think so this season.
  15. Was that a coaching blunder or just bad defense? I was so steamed about 4th and 1 the rest of the game was blur, I knew we had already lost.
  16. Biggest Packer playoff coaching blunder ever, Sherman punts on 4th and 1 or Pettine's single high man coverage on hail mary? Is there another candidate? I have to think Pettine won't be back, I mean without being bound by a contract does even he want to come back with that play behind him? Fans will never forget that.
  17. Still ticked they ate flags all afternoon until the last play that mattered. Oh well, hope Pettine get s fired so we have something different to look forward to next year. Now I have to find something to with the rest of my night, read a book or something Fun season but got let down in the end again.
  18. I listen on wtmj.com if I don’t have radio reception. Conference championship rules change though as it is only on broadcast radio in Milwaukee and GB. But I know I at least listened to pregame online last year.
  19. We had 2 first round picks and were coming off of 6-10 so I was fine with a high ceiling project although I expected it with the 2nd pick not the 12. He played last year and is making an impact this season so I don't see it much different than Savage who they could plug right in as a starter. Very few NFL players have high impact rookie years and if he is a little behind where we hoped it's mostly because he had a high ankle sprain early in this season.
  20. Gutes really nailed that pick, I think Gary's floor right now is a Nick Perry who can actually stay on the field. Really hoping King will be good to go, I still don't like Pettine's scheme and feel like the better play by the D has been the emergence of some young players and just much better health than any adjustments made. CB is sort of thin, can't give Brady a weakness to pick on.
  21. Keke out, King questionable. Not a great turn on the Friday injury report.
  22. Brown out, hadn't realized he had emerged as a favorite target for Brady the last few games.
  23. I was a big fan of his draft and develop strategy for a few years but the flaw in it was that you had to carry all those guys on the roster to develop them and when you got hit by injuries they weren't ready. I think we have 6 starters now we added a FA's the last 2 offseason and all are playing league average or better, that is a much better way to balance the roster. Very sad news. RIP Ted.
