  1. Donaldson is 35 and isn’t that productive, the Twins may not have reason to just dump his salary but in a lost season seems exactly the type of player you try to cash in for something. His contract and production seem similar to Braun’s the last few years and the Twins fans don’t have any long term attachment to Donaldson. Risky contract for the Brewers to take on, not sure what it would take but trade website has his value at -12 million
  2. Not to pile on JBJ too much but in hindsight maybe that money should have just been spent on more pitching. I mean Corey Ray or Broxton could hit .150 and play good defense
  3. At least we won’t want to talk about run differential for a while again
  4. I guess if Lauer is available for 3 innings it doesn’t make much difference, just try to stay in it and don’t waste the bullpen if you don’t.
  5. Says a lot at 58 pitches they pinch hit for Anderson with 2 outs
  6. Just tuned in to gamecast to see it flip from 3 to 5-1. Figured we were due for a stinker with Anderson starting…
  7. I am surprised but guess it is just that they need 7 from him with the state of the bullpen and it is a close game. Leave him in until he gives up a base runner, it seems like that was the way someone with 90+ pitches has been handled in the past
  8. I would think you give him a shot to pitch to contact at some point, a few more runs would be nice.
  9. I think this will be the third? time we have used a 6th starter. Does 10 times over the season sound about right to save 2 starts each for the regular guys?
  10. Bob Gibson record watch. Gibson 1.12 Woodruff 1.27 Ok I stole that from a deGrom ESPN headline I saw this morning but dang Woody is good.
  11. What does this have to do with Don Hutson? Off on a tangent but this thread could use it until after the 1st when we may actually get some news, I think Rodgers is arguably the best. Different eras but the NFL wasn’t the league in Hudson’s time that it is now. I don’t remember of course but I think back then it was basically only baseball and college football that mattered in team sports so Hutson’s dominance of the game probably wasn’t that big a deal. I think it is between those 2 though.
  12. I looked the “future” radar seems like more rolling in at 9:30, if it was just sprinkling like some if you have said should kept rolling, looks like a long night
  13. Aren't the Dodgers in luxury tax land? Braun would cost a few million and maybe double that in tax and I don't see him as that valuable as a bench bat like the Dodgers are planning for Pujols. Braun would probably play for $500k if it was the Dodgers and he actually wanted to play...but I’m guessing he just doesn’t want to play. Wouldn’t shock me if the Dodgers reached out to him. I don't think he would come back just to be a bit player on potential world series team, he would want to play 4 games a week on a team that could use him like, I don't know, THE BREWERS. I would go with he just doesn't want to play but I think he would have had we picked up his option and considering JBJ's dismal offense maybe we should have.
  14. I remember some pregame interview years ago, either with Garner or Treblehorn, where Uecker asked how long it took before you knew where your team was at. The response was about 40 games. It's always stuck with me and sure enough we were 20-20 this season after a pretty solid start which seems about where we belong.
  15. It doesn't seem like this is the first time this year he came in and gave up a devastating HR allowing all the baserunners to score. Maybe that isn't the time to put him in, better to have him start the inning.
  16. If we really do actually have 3 aces it would be criminal for the Brewers to not increase payroll significantly over the next couple of seasons.
  17. Aren't the Dodgers in luxury tax land? Braun would cost a few million and maybe double that in tax and I don't see him as that valuable as a bench bat like the Dodgers are planning for Pujols.
