  1. That was brought with I think Mike Florio on a radio show a couple of weeks ago. He said Metcalf but I think quantified it as if you could have one guy.
  2. Yeah count me among those who thought this may be his last year in GB. He is amazing right now, as good as he has ever been. Maybe the Love pick was needed to light a fire under him.
  3. It seems like that hasn't been a great sign for us this season, both the Vikes and Colts kept our offense off the field for long stretches. But it's 3-0 and we got out of poor field position there, a nice long TD drive here would be nice.
  4. Sort of watching while listening to pregame but seems like Jags had 10 turnovers but just tied up the Vikes
  5. Honestly, I don't know what you meant- you stated that the Packers could be spending more money on salaries in a given year, which is factually incorrect. Regarding Rodgers, he already restructured his contract prior to this season and had only a $1.5 million base this year. There was no additional money there to free up in 2020. Going forward, they're tied in his current contract through the END of next year, when they're better off trading or releasing him than keeping him. Perhaps that's why they used a high draft pick to have a contingency plan for when that becomes a choice they have to weigh.... I thought I made it pretty clear what I meant in my last post and I did review your links before I posted. I am just going to drop it. Go Pack
  6. They probably don't do it because it's flat-out not allowed. Not sure what you're basing your statement on, but it's simply not correct: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1665623-how-does-the-salary-cap-work-in-the-nfl The NFL uses a hard cap, meaning that no team is allowed to exceed the cap limit for any reason. https://www.foxbusiness.com/sports/nfl-salary-cap-rules-explained The NFL utilizes a “hard cap,” meaning that teams can’t exceed the imposed upper limit. They was I phrased it was incorrect but I think you know what I meant. If they were at the cap this past offseason and wanted to add a 10 million dollar player they could restructure Rodgers and convert his salary to bonus moving his cap hit to future years. This is likely what they are going to have to do this coming offseason if they want to bring any of their UFA's back. Am I wrong in this?
  7. You can go over the cap one year and take the hit the next through signing bonus and restructures. I am pretty sure Denver won a Super Bowl just a few years ago by doing that. Other teams have tried that and failed and ended up with some bad teams down the road. Packer fans talk about going all in to get Rodgers one more SB and I think this is generally what we are talking about. I don't think the Packers will ever do this and my point is that may be because they worry about it's impact on their investments. You clearly think this is a reach but we will have to agree to disagree and move on to today's game And for the record I lived in Minneapolis for 12 years and never once went to MoA
  8. What in the world is this based on? I don’t think I’ve EVER heard the organization discuss “making profits.” Implying that the organization is focused more on profits rather than on winning is borderline outrageous. I guess because they're the only team that releases financial data to the public? Not sure. Selling worthless stock when they didn't need to after the last Super Bowl started the bad taste for me. I don't know if that financial disclosure tells us much other than the bottom line which is still a profit every year even after they buy up property and build the Titletown District. Do we even know how much Mark Murphy makes? I know you will say that TD is giving back to fans but they are constantly seeking ways to generate more revenue when they are rolling in cash and I don't think all of the TD is all about fans but will be happy to be corrected on that. I don't think they will ever go all in and sacrifice the future for the SB even though they can afford to just as easily as any of the billionaire owners, they have too much invested in the stadium expansion and TD to risk another decade like the 80's. I think we saw that in the Love pick. I don't see how my opinion about the org being too focused on the business side of things rather than football is so out there but whatever, we are all entitled to our opinions here. Snark away.
  9. Since you started it I will add this has been gripe of mine for awhile now too, for a non-profit they sure are focused on profits and it does seem like the model is make the playoffs and hope for the best. I will bet they won't be dipping into the "rainy day" fund much to cover their losses this year, rather they will jack ticket prices, maybe even only temporarily to kick the cost back onto us fans. Back to the game like every year I keep waiting for the defense to turn the corner, now that the CB's are healthy again they should be getting better. Eagles are 27th in the NFL in yards, seems like a good chance for the defense to put up a strong showing. As always wish it was a noon kickoff...
  10. Sure but it seems like a lost season anyway so good time to get Mertz experience. The guy clearly has talent we haven't seen in a QB here since Wilson, it's better he gets his early stumbles out of the way this year. I feel like it is sort of rebuilding year anyway, usually that means 8-4 or 9-3 for us but looks like we have to hope for 3-2.
  11. Really frustrating to give up a quality player over 5 million, especially when we could have let him go and saved a good chuck of that if things didn't work out in spring training. If I had any faith we could spend that 5 million on a similar caliber hitter it would be different but seems like a year where we are getting bargain basement retreads again, at least with Corey you feel OK about him bouncing back and being a much better trade chip mid season when relievers are at a premium.
  12. At least from my expectations Davison may be the most disappointing player I can remember. I know he is a solid all around glue player but he was hyped as one of the best shooters in the country as a recruit and has really never had the improvement over his career that you see in so many Badger basketball players. Every time he shoots I cringe. The whole team just didn't play that well and still should have won it if not for a stupid foul at the end. Nice thing about college basketball is one regular season loss doesn't mean that much.
  13. Not sure why they kept letting him go. Did Trice expect help? They were literally giving him the lane Maybe they thought with 15 seconds left they would hold for last shot? Sort of caught the Badgers flat footed the entire last minute.
  14. Man that was tough, gotta hand it to Carlton and Marquette though, they pushed it up and didn't let the Badgers defense force them into tough shots at the end.
  15. It seems to me like Wojo's teams have really underperformed, at least when measured by how well they have recruited. He did get burned by the Hauser brothers on what would have been his best team but that situation reflects on him as well. I don't follow them as much as I used to, and maybe my opinion about how well they have recruited is off, but I think the fans expect him to make more tourneys and get out of the first round. But I agree not sure I would tear things down I haven't seen Marquette yet this year but the Wisconsin-Marquette rivalry seems to be split the last couple of decades despite the Badgers having more team success over that period, I sure don't expect the Badgers to cruise tonight. Looking forward to the game.
  16. Sheesh, when did we start having Tuesday afternoon games?
  17. It's funny, I remember reading this the other day and thinking how awesome it was. Now a couple of days later I actually look up the news and all I see is how the Heat and Lakers are angling for him. I think I will go back to not paying attention and being pleasantly surprised if he actually signs the supermax with the Bucks.
  18. Trubisky often burns us with scrambles but other than that seems like we handle him OK. Hoping for an easy win, we need to get back on track with the running game and the defense needs to shut down a poor offense.
  19. And still won. Ugh. Matt Rhule did a terrible job of managing the clock those last couple minutes. He botched that game away. They stopped the clock inside of 4 minutes for the 1 timeout Vikes FOUR TIMES. Vikes scored with 45 seconds left to take the lead.
  20. I thought they should have run on 3rd down there too, sure the TD wins it but running 45 seconds of the clock was big and they blew it. I bet the Vikes pull this out.
  21. I just realized this year didn't count for eligibility today and I thin they can stay on without violating scholarship #'s. Even bigger is it applies to all players so the freshmen can actually play 5 years? Seems like a lot of deep benches for the next few seasons if I am understanding it correctly. I think Reuvers and Potter maybe move on to play pro somewhere as they are athletic bigs but not sure that Davison wouldn't come back if allowed. Trice and Ford are in their 6th year out of high school now so if they can make money in Europe or somewhere it's probably time.
  22. That would be really fun AND fair! Everyone goes no huddle with quick snaps as they can't let the other team score first! Replay to see who crossed the goal line first! I love it.
  23. I really wasn't aware of the college percentage until you brought it up here but I don't know that you can use that to predict what the 2nd team having the ball would do in my proposal since the rules are different. In college if the first team possession kicks a FG the 2nd team starts in FG range and is really sitting in the catbird seat as they can take their shots and still have another likely OT round to fall back on. I would think the win percentage in the same scenario but with starting at your own ~25 yard line is quite a bit lower. But the college system definitely seems flawed, I would not want the NFL to go with that now that I see the advantage the coin toss winner has. Also, I can't find the post rule change numbers but am guessing that your 53% number doesn't correlate to a 47% chance for the coin toss loser since there are also games that end in ties. So the loser probably has more of a 44-45% percent chance and an 8-9% advantage isn't really margin of error territory in my opinion, it's significant. But you are right there is no perfect solution, I just think giving the coin toss winner a chance to win with a TD is the wrong one even if the percentages aren't that much different in the end. How would you feel about baseball flipping a coin at the end of 9 to see who bats first and going first run wins?
  24. It's an advantage, again, just a very minimal one. It's so much better than when a FG won it immediately. What would be your 50/50 solution with no advantage to either side? Again, college rules still favor the toss winner even more. If it was me I would give one possession to each team and the game ends after that no matter what the score, save sudden death after that for playoffs when you have to have a winner. That solves the get it over quick TV problem that brought about the sudden death rules in the first place. I don't expect much support for this lol but the idea of ties doesn't bother me like they do most other NFL fans and I think it would be interesting how teams play it, especially late in the season.
  25. Just caught this in an article on Adams: With six regular-season games left, Adams is currently the second-highest rated offensive player (92.0) in the NFL by Pro Football Focus. The only player Adams trails? Rodgers (92.6). https://www.packers.com/news/davante-adams-remains-forever-thankful-in-midst-of-statement-season
