  1. I know what you're saying but I just think Counsell is managing these games like last year. 4 innings is right around the most I'd expect of any of these guys.
  2. What a silly statement. And that contract precedes Stearns there chief. And yes you do have to factor in both how the money could have been better spent and how it could've been worse. People like you are going to be surprised to see where that 2nd contract falls in terms of the the good and bad signed over that span.
  3. I can look at it any way I want. Even the 2nd contract isn't turning out too bad given the year Braun just had in the second to last year. If Braun had left as a free after 2015, the Brewers easily could have done far worse with the money.
  4. With the $4 million buyout after 2020 and accounting for the deferred payments from 2022-2031, Ryan Braun will wind up being paid $213,000,000 for 14 seasons.. That's just over 15 million per year. Some years overpaid and some years grossly underpaid. The deal was just fine for the Brewers.
  5. When it comes down to a final year and the player has been productive up until that point I don't think it can any longer be considered a bad contract. Just my opinion. Much of the hand-wringing was born from a time when it looked like Braun was falling off a cliff due to nagging injuries and a missed opportunity to trade him. Here we are a few years later and he's been an important piece in the 2nd to last year of his deal. The contract is nowhere near the disaster oft seen throughout the game.
  6. You're using hindsight to attack the one time in weeks when not allowing that SP a 3rd trip through backfired. And that's not even factoring in the chance to tack on runs when Davies was PH for.
  7. If only there was a huge disparity in resources to explain why a string of playoff berths is such a huge accomplishment for one and ho hum for another.
  8. This isn't directed at you, I'm replying to your post because you have the quote from Counsell. My question for some here and fans in general is, why does it require a quote in the paper explaining a move to calm yourselves down? When does someone get the benefit of the doubt? He's not making decisions via a Magic 8 ball. This team has 89 wins against 71 losses while outscoring opponents by 5 runs on the year. I think it's safe to say that Counsell manages in-game situations better than most if not all.
  9. In spite of it being used on me, I got a good chuckle out of it. Putting in the memory bank for future use.
  10. You can post your opinion about something and not be a Cubs fan about it. You can also post and make sense. Keep up the good fight!
  11. Yeah math doesn't lie folks.
  12. I don't know what to say other than "Like" or "And 1" or "Upvote". If only there was a button...
  13. Seriously????? "What a whiny, petulant, attention seeking, "look at me" post." Yeah that's the one, lol. Thanks for resuscitating it!
  14. I want it noted that my only post in this thread was how dumb it was. It got deleted and I got a timeout. Was 100% worth it.
  15. And the '87 Twins won the WS with a -20 regular season run differential so that one looks like its out too.

  17. Nah, I'm not going to let history be re-written. Yost used 4-5 relievers when he could have used 2-3 all the time. If he had a reliever pitch a quick clean inning leading up to the 7th or 8th, it didn't matter how little rest the designated 7th or 8th inning guys had, they were coming in. Two stark differences between Yost and Counsell that make the latter so much more effective are Craig's deployment of relievers for multiple innings, and using his best guys when ahead, with his bottom guys deployed when behind. He also handles Hader in a much more effective way then Yost ever would have. Yost would burn guys one inning at a time and use them damn near everyday, even when trailing. You're not going 162-0 and no reliever is making 162 appearances, so you have to pick your spots. Yost didn't, and by year end the pen was shot.
  18. I think a stooge could have easily managed that KC bullpen to a World Series. Wade Davis might have had one of the greatest seasons a reliever has ever had. That bullpen was the equivalent of giving a legally blind squirrel lasik surgery which then enables it to locate nuts. Yost simply wore bullpens down to the point the Brewers faded every August/September. The KC pen was Yost-proof.
  19. Ticket vendor that crashes the hour before they sell tickets and manually processing orders in 2018, it is not like I'm "complaining" about minor issues. They suck at doing this, that much is clear. BTW, I have it confirmed they WILL be locking people out, so don't sell your presale tix. I'll just say that outside of the personal enjoyment of seeing the Brewers in the World Series, the second greatest benefit would be the lack of posts fretting about when the deposit will be credited back.
  20. Jay Jackson would another one to add to the David Stearns "hits" column when people are adding up those sorts of things.
  21. Ah, what's becoming an annual tradition - OSS complaining about the postseason ticketing process. Much better than the alternative though, which would be having no postseason at all. It's a great problem to have.
  22. Yuck on the first two, glad to be so very wrong on Woodruff. Still expecting big things from Freddy. If anything, Woodruff's success putting it all together should give everyone hope for the much younger Peralta and for Corbin Burnes as well. Couldn't have been more right about Hiura. He's right there in 2nd behind Yelich in OPS at .943, well ahead of Thames (.854), Grandal (.851), and Moustakas (.849). Calling Hiura a lineup fixture may seem obvious now, but there were people here expecting Hiura to be a September call-up who would become a regular in 2020.
  23. That run differential problem is going to be wiped out in one weekend.
