  1. It was very surreal last night seeing Knicks fans bemoan that the lottery was rigged. Yep, I'm sure the NBA's dream scenario was to have New Orleans and Memphis land the top 2 picks.
  2. Whole different, less guarded tone today is nice to see. Even if it's only after one game, lol.
  3. +1 It's almost as if they're rooting for him to start slow. I only take one exception to your post. Hiura is going to be their 2nd best bat by June. This June. Said it before the season started and putting it on record again here.
  4. We're making this way too complicated talking about hypotheticals of Hiura coming up and struggling or lighting the world on fire. It's actually pretty simple. If you have a highly skilled player dominating at a lower level (in this case AAA) and have a need at the MLB level, you bring the player up. The added caveat being avoiding Super 2 if this is a player you project wanting to control for an extra year. If Shaw continues to be a negative or an injury occurs, you bring Hiura up the moment you're sure you have the extra year of control. Guesses as to how well he'll hit in Milwaukee have no bearing on whether he should be called up once Super 2 passes. The goal is to win MLB games. If a hitter gets hurt or Shaw continues to have a hole in his bat, who the heck else should get the call other than Hiura?
  5. Toby H (And That) predicted on Twitter that Rasmussen would be in Biloxi by mid-May and by gosh he was right. He's now saying that if Drew fares well in AA over the next couple months, an appearance in Milwaukee by year's end is quite possible. I don't see any reason to think otherwise.
  6. And I appreciate being able to have a conversation with you again. The fact we couldn't for some time was entirely my fault. I think where we're at right now, is you holding the belief that the current deployment is about as far as this will go. I'm still convinced there's much more to come. I think everything I laid out in "TFOP" will see the light of day. And as I said then, it will take time. I don't have any problem with either viewpoint. And I respect the opinion of those of think it's too dramatic a change.
  7. If what I've been saying from the start has changed, how did CHL so eloquently summarize with great detail exactly what I laid out last fall. There's no doubt he conveys information far better than I. And I literally just posted for something like the 3rd or 4th time in the past week that I should have handled my own responses better. I've done what the mods have asked. It's a shame others aren't being held to the same standard because then the nonsense would stop and the focus would again be the change that is literally happening before our eyes. And we could also start enjoying the change that is working right now.
  8. I literally gasped when I read this.
  9. Don't worry, I don't mind if this is a one-off thing and people jump at the chance to throw it back in my face. The reason is, in time I know it's coming. Whether the go 3 straight months after this of doing it traditionally, or start doing it regularly, what I've been expecting will come in time. Yes, I know this occurrence is mostly circumstantial, and my post is thus mostly tongue in cheek. The smallest part of me is excited that they're even willing do it in a game in May. In days past, today's formula wouldn't even be considered. So I take that as progress. This is how change happens. Rarely do teams dive in. It comes in small doses. Today is a dose, a test run, an out of box way that wasn't even a glimmer of an idea in the past and for some teams, still isn't. Hope it works today and will laugh at the overreaction if it doesn't. I can tell you right now, I won't come in here boasting a huge victory if Houser and Perlata team up to shut down the Nats. This is but a mere step.
  10. Don't look now, but the Brewers are getting umm "creative" tomorrow. If I'm not mistaken it will be in defiance of a few "never will happen" outside of September / October" proclamations I might have heard somewhere. Was that here? Nah, must have been somewhere else.
  11. I could be wrong but the people who aren't expecting much from Hiura, even calling for him to be traded, just don't seem to be very familiar with him as a talent. Do they know why he's been tabbed an elite hitter? Do they know how the ball jumps off his bat? I keep hearing about all these touted prospects who struggle out of the gate. And of the ones who never amounted to anything. Well, some of them actually do hit from day one. The Brewers even have an example of one who to this day often mans LF most nights. l'll sing it from the rooftops again, I expect Hiura to be one of those instant impact bats. Sticking with my preseason call that he's the 2nd best bat in the organization behind only Yelich. I could be wrong.
  12. Lol, Brinson isn't even close to the hitter Hiura is.
  13. If there was a "Like" button... It's nice to see what's often taken for granted, instead noticed. In person, at the park, there's even more to appreciate before he's putting glove to ball.
  14. Nice to see the Brewers ahead of 3 teams in the division. Hope it stays that way.
  15. Simply stated, if you're going to avoid a 3rd trip through like the plague, your staff better be constructed with an ample amount of long arms and starter types to accommodate it. Instead they're relying on the shuttle system which exposes the team to using lesser arms. I'm sure it will go over like a turd in a punch bowl here if Burch Smith is relied upon in a tight game and blows it.
  16. This. Oh, that's right, we're not supposed to respond with one word posts. So for emphasis, I'll say it again. This. ^^^^^
  17. Lol, that GIF didn't mean what you think it did. But I'm sad to see Freddy struggle nonetheless.
  18. Perhaps Johnson sought greener pastures because he saw the folly in strategizing to avoid starters pitching deep into lineups without a staff constructed to handle the short outings. The Brewers are stuck in a period of transition, it's ugly, and they're paying to price for it. At least it's fixable.
  19. You might want to consider that possibly your own reading comprehension is the problem. The only time I talked about a pitcher going 7 innings is when referring to the current traditional model. This is how the nonsense I get called out for keeps spreading. From people re-stating what I've said incorrectly like you just did. Thanks, I really appreciate it!
  20. Colorado too. Here's hoping that he pitches with the same brilliance that he did when he debuted against the Rockies in a day game.
  21. Valerio Santos Victor Santos. That's it, thank you!
  22. Yes, thank you. It's anything but rigid, just like the model to have the starter go 7 followed by a set-up man and closer isn't anything more than a daily goal. It's something you hope for but adjust accordingly. And the dual starter model isn't an equal dose of both by target or plan. If one guy gives you 5, the other might only throw 2-3. The guy who goes 5 will be down for more days than the guy who goes 2-3. Maybe they flip roles and reverse their order of appearance if they happen to throw in the same next game. (The one who started last time relieves, while the one who came out of the pen, gets to start his next time out.) People are used to a set 5-man rotation and I get that. This completely scraps that and wouldn't have a set schedule. Which is probably why it's so hard to pin down. You play matchups and availability. And you cover for the shorter starts by having more starter-like pitchers. They're already shortening these starts, they may as well have a staff constructed to better handle it. And the upside gained is taking advantage of pitchers' general dominance over batters when avoiding a 3rd look on a given day.
