  1. Jackson Chourio headed to Appleton, that is all.
  2. As mentioned above, I believe the wording was just a “significant left arm injury”. However, I don’t see this affecting his 2024 ETA. By all means, when Black returns next season it will be with Biloxi. In my opinion, he was already on the verge of a promotion so, that being said, if his performance is anywhere near that of when he was in Appleton we should expect anywhere from 1/2 to one full season in Biloxi and the same for Nashville. My guess would be a second-half debut in 2024 if performance and health hold up.
  3. Clayton Andrews, Logan Henderson, Caden Lemons, Jhoan Cruz, Shane Smith, Rafael Garcia, Pedro Quintana all slated to appear in game action by early to mid-August. However, any number of these names may have suffered a setback that I have not yet caught wind of.
  4. It was a great moment when #FreeLukeBarker came to fruition earlier this season. Unfortunately, the right-handed reliever will undergo season-ending elbow surgery in the coming weeks. It is unclear at the moment if the procedure will be Tommy John or something less significant. While he will miss the remainder of 2022, there is hope that he may be ready come spring training.
  5. Completely agree that it can be confusing at times, just meant it as a reminder for anyone that may have seen your post and had not seen the previous update! Appreciate the kind words!
  6. As I had mentioned a few weeks back, Carlos Rodriguez will miss the remainder of the 2022 season after tearing multiple ligaments in his knee.
  7. LHP Scotty Sunitsch, who was able to return to the mound last week as a personal triumph, announced this morning that he is retiring from professional baseball.
  8. 2021 undrafted free agent signing RHP Shane Smith, who is still rehabbing from Tommy John surgery from prior to his signing with Milwaukee, expects to appear in a handful of ACL games in August.
  9. Updates on some young Brewers farmhands in the DSL: - ’22 signing RHP Breijher Subero has missed the early portion of the season with an elbow strain but expects to make his pro debut in the second half of the season. - LHP Pedro Quintana, acquired May 2021 in trade with Mets for OF Billy McKinney, underwent Tommy John surgery soon after the trade and expects to make a late-season return in what will be his pro debut. - ‘22 signing OF Manuel Vargas will miss the entire season as he recovers from a torn ACL.
  10. Former DSL All-Star RHP Rafael Garcia threw his first bullpen session of the year yesterday and it went well. The 21-year-old Panamanian righty struggled in his stateside debut last year as he’ll hope to bounce back whenever he gets into a game.
  11. Not to sound the alarm too early but… Jackson Chourio was not even in uniform at the ballpark in Carolina today. He was with the team but did not partake in batting practice. I should also note that I have confirmed with multiple sources that he is not injured. Speculation may commence now
  12. More news from a rehabbing farmhand, LHP Jackson Gillis also threw his first bullpen of the season yesterday. His return may be somewhat quicker than Lemons, though, as he will work out of the bullpen as would be expected. Lemons, however, still plans to be stretched out in preparation to start games once again which will slow his timeline.
  13. For the optimists out there, like myself, that like to remain hopefully about pitching prospects that can’t seem to stay healthy in recent years (i.e. Nathan Kirby, Nash Walters, Brendan Murphy, Lun Zhao, Scotty Sunitsch, the list goes on)- Here is some news for you! RHP Caden Lemons threw his first bullpen session since last year’s surgery today. He is likely to join one of the ACL squads within the next few weeks and hopes to make it back to Carolina by season’s end.
  14. Sorry I should give an explanation: ? = “Did you really just say that?” I guess that is also relevant here ?
  15. Of course and will do! It is even more disappointing knowing that Carlos is genuinely one of the most down to earth athletes I have ever met. Always makes time for others whether it is media or fans.
  16. Spoke with OF Carlos Rodriguez today and he confirmed it was indeed season-ending surgery yesterday. There is also a possibility that his 2023 season will be delayed as well, but he said he hopes to be 100% at some point during spring training.
  17. Seems like most of the news I have posted has been negative so I’ll keep it short. Carlos Rodriguez’ IL placement is due to an injury to his right leg, underwent season-ending surgery on Thursday according to his agent. Can’t say if it’s ACL, achilles, etc.
  18. Seems like most of the news I have posted has been negative so I’ll keep it short. Injury to his right leg, underwent season-ending surgery on Thursday according to his agent. Can’t say if it’s ACL, achilles, etc.
  19. He underwent elbow surgery to insert a screw in his elbow back in mid-March, last update I received was that he hoped to be on the mound in a game in early to mid-July.
  20. Ernesto Martinez confirmed with me that he expects to return to the lineup in the second half of the season.
  21. I will preface this by saying that, for those that don’t know, the team policy for injuries and transactions is that, until the organization deems that information should be released either through a press release or the media (i.e. Adam McCalvy), only the player can speak about their situation. As I expected, the coach I spoke with, JJ Reimer, told me he can’t speak on the matter and only Freddy can address his injury. For that reason, given how guarded he typically is about speaking with those outside the organization, we likely will not know what happened until the team publicly addresses the injury.
  22. Zamora is one of those guys that is difficult to reach typically. I am supposed to talk with a member of the Shuckers coaching staff this afternoon and I will ask about him once again.
  23. From my understanding, and I may be wrong, 60-day and full-season injured do not count towards the roster limit set for stateside players and at the individual levels, however, they are still counted in the total organizational roster number.
  24. Unlike in past seasons when 60-day signaled that a player was out for the season that is no longer the case. I spoke with Jhoan this morning and, although his throwing program was delayed by about a month, he is scheduled to begin throwing next week and he hopes to return by late July/early August at the latest. I have yet to speak with Ernesto, but at the time of his injury it was just a sprained wrist. I’ll update when I speak with him about if anything has changed.
