  1. I’m of the belief now that it just wouldn’t be fair for the crew to sign kimbrel. NL teams need hope and this signing would effectively end any thought of a team beating out the crew.
  2. Yeah I don’t think there’s anybody in all of brewer world who’s head doesn’t hurt reading any more of this wasted thread. Just my opinion, of course I could be wrong.
  3. Even the worrywarts on our rotation going into the year I think have come around. I was one of those that was overly worried about our early season pen, but I like what I’ve seen so far, at worst can buy time for reinforcements. ONLY complaint switch Barnes with Fields ASAP.
  4. How much more proof do we need? It’s ok to go with what our eyes have seen. Counsell & Stearns did in last year’s pennant race and playoff run.
  5. Either the scouts were wrong in their evaluations of our three young guns or our development and instruction was superior, I think it’s a combination of both. Davies might get replaced by Nelson, making Chacin a potential #5 in this rotation. So yeah, top three performance wise in my opinion. This offense doesn’t need to carry this team, but it will help us win 100+. And at some point this year our bullpen will be as strong or STRONGER than last years pen. Brown and others if needed called up, trade deadline acquisitions, and starters rotating to pen will assure us of that.
  6. It’s early, but, bullpen better than I thought it would be this early in the season. IF jeffress can be an effective high leverage arm again > look out, because: I’m ready to declare when Nelson back in rotation it’s top 3 in NL. Mets best, then maybe us. I don’t care that it’s only 7 games in, I’ve seen enough. Of course there will be SOME growing pains but not as much as some think. Maybe some with peralta but Burnes and woody gonna dominate the whole year, Their stuff AND command too good not to. Overall pitching staff has a few questions, namely the pen. But I trust Counsell to make the right moves, and Stearns to fix any weakness.
  7. True....I'd feel a lot better if we had a couple ace relievers to help prop that sky up though. Honestly, I expected this to be a bad month for us. I thought .500 would be great. Get through the first month healthy and at .500 and given the awful news we got to start the year, we'd be in good shape. I always thought chemistry in baseball was kinda stupid. I mean, it's helpful to a point, you feel the support of the guys around you, but Baseball is an individual sport...it's not like football or basketball. This team is starting to make me question that. They're just so resilient and I didn't think the 1 run victories were a fluke with Hader and a guy with an ERA around 1.2, plus several other really solid BP guys, but who would have thought we'd be on the RIGHT side of all these one run wins this year? Maybe it's our manager. Pushing the right buttons so consistently. I don't know if we finish 1st or 4th in the NLC, but this team is fun to watch. Agree^^ Counsell worth several wins Team Chemistry and resiliency several more Front office some more That’s why Vegas fangraphs prospectus and others constantly under project win totals for this team.
  8. If all 3 stay healthy and productive, the team might have send each down to San Antonio for 2-3 week stints just to limit their use. Rotate amongst them when Nelson is (if) ready. Or go to the 6 man and rotate to pen that XIS talked about. That would be my plan, keep em on big club or IR all year. No wasted innings on minor leaguers, unless peralta goes down and throws 80% curves and change-ups for 2-3 innings.
  9. Last years deep playoff run and abundance of close victories gonna pay off big time this year. This team has the mental toughness that few teams have. Counsell keeps talking about this in reference to the young guns. Regular season games nothing compared to the big stage of last year’s playoff games. This is a team whose collective heart rate has to be amongst the lowest in all of baseball.
  10. This performance not withstanding, great pickup by stearns & co this Wilson. Good experience late in games.
  11. Surprised it’s gonna be Hader, that’ll be 4 times pitched in 6 days?
  12. Dubon is coming off a serious injury and hasn't played since last May. He's not the answer yet. Ya forgot.
  13. Dubon and Arcia should switch teams tomorrow. Dubon will hit at least a little, and maybe a lot. Arcia can try to figure things out in AAA.
  14. Given the way the Brewers often shuttle relievers up and down I doubt super 2 is even a consideration, especially with Perdomo. While both are intriguing, I think they'd probably have to leapfrog Houser, Brown, Petricka, Fields, Sanchez and possibly Olczak at least in the pecking order, plus possibly one of the current starters if Nelson takes one of those spots. Perdomo is my sleeper pick to be called up, left handers that throw mid to upper 90s can do some leapfrogging.
  15. Great take. Agree with everything you said. Only quibble would be when JJ comes back Barnes leaves and Wilson stays. And personally I’d want to see what fields can do over Williams.
  16. No thanks, inconsistent up-and-down career. In my opinion, if memory serves me right, he’s a head case. I thought he had a run-in with the manager or the front office so they shipped him to Toronto.
  17. Here’s the way I see the National League: The east is stronger than the central. The Marlins and the Padres are going to be the most improved teams in the National League this year. Philadelphia New York and Washington have terrible managers. Even though the east will beat up on each other, they will get their WinTOTAL padded in interleague play facing the American League Central The west will have the two worst teams in San Francisco and Arizona. The Dodgers are overrated and the Rockies are underrated. The crew’s talent, depth, manager, Front office, late season bullpen and previous playoff experience will help to pull away late from the cards and cubs. Rockies Phillies Mets braves none will best the Crew.
  18. I hope your right on Nelson, be great to see him pitching out of the rotation again. Nelson can replace Davies, unless peralta command doesn’t improve.
  19. Nelson is coming off over a year of no pitching, and has been building up and working toward taking the ball every five days ever since he starting throwing pen sessions last fall. He's also been a starter his whole career. The idea that working out of the pen is less taxing on an arm I believe is a fallacy. Getting up and warming quickly, often several times a week, can be extremely taxing on arms and, in Nelson's case, core joints. The last thing I'd want to do is put him in the pen with the expectation that he make several 3-4 appearances a week in a fireman role. And if you'r going to pitch him sparingly out of the pen to protect his arm, he may as well not even be on the team. If this team has proven anything in its 5 games so far, its that all their relievers are going to be used often. Ok but maybe it’s gonna take a while for him to strengthen the arm, to build up to 90-100 pitches. Could take longer than the month some think till ready. It could be months with another setback. Jimmy didn’t sound too concerned so maybe your right. When is he supposed to start throwing again?
  20. No kidding, how bad has the Brewer bullpen so far? NL ranks- ERA = 5th (3.57) FIP = 3rd (0.96) OPS against = 2nd (.590) Is this another Aprils Fools? Using the BP's stats after 5 games? 3 of which for the record Hader has pitched in as our closer, which I'd assume we can ALL agree is not ideal? The Brewers have played well. They still need to address their pen earlier than later. Like I've said over and over. I also will say again I trust CC and Stearns to figure it out. An awful lot hinges on how effective jeffress is, first 60 innings of last yr jj would buy time til past super2, maybe even trade deadline. While an ineffective jj......I also trust stearns and Counsell to figure it out though.
