  1. Rebuilt so fast national media still thinks brewers flash in the pan team. No clue. It’ll take a World Series to get there attention. Can’t wait.
  2. He can build up arm strength and velo in extended st and aaa.
  3. What's there to apologize for? We should still be losing 100 games as we just start to get ready to rebuild under normal circumstances. Are there that many people who follow the team but who are critical or Stearns? Even the casual non- brewers fan would give Stearns a nice round of applause. And the fact that he laughed at the 3-5 years 100 loss tanking concept popularized by that wealthy large market team just a little south of Milwaukee should get a standing ovation.
  4. Jimmy twice has said he cleaned up his delivery this off season so that’s why his breaking stuff(curve, slider, change)is better than ever. When his velo ticks upward, and it will,he will be a better pitcher than 2017. NL Comeback player of the year.
  5. This is the perfect take on the subject I believe. I think we've really dreamt and hoped on Nelson for so long seeing his raw stuff and potential, that his showing in 2017 really just felt like a win. It's so rare in Brewers history to see a talented guy come up through the system, and have the team stick with him to the point where that patience and his talent pays off. I think that is probably causing most of us to look at him a little skewed now, with maybe misplaced optimism that we'll see the 2017 Jimmy Nelson this year. Personally I think we will see the 2017 Jimmy at times this year, but with the inconsistency of 2015 and 2016 thrown in more than we'd like. And that is totally OK. I thought Jimmy made a mechanical adjustment to his wind up prior to the 2017 season. And that’s the reason that he became an ace like pitcher prior to his injury. But I could be mistaken.
  6. OK I see your point with the “outlier” 2017. But what’s your opinion on Jimmy turning the corner in 2017.
  7. I’m trying to think of the words to give this man the credit that he deserves for what he has done for this franchise. In my humble opinion what he has done could go down as the best job any GM has ever done for any franchise in baseball history. Hyperbole? Exaggeration? Maybe. Maybe not. How many GM’s have started and then completed a rebuild in 17 MONTHS. In baseballs SMALLEST market. Elite roster depth. Elite analytics dept. Elite game planning. Elite culture. Elite team chemistry. I could go on and on. The national media won’t give him the credit he deserves because they’re oblivious to the small markets. The Mets and Giants and 28 other baseball clubs know what we have and so do we fans of the brewers. I hope his extension is for 25 years. Yes I agree it’s too early to judge his handling of the draft and minor leaguers. But my prediction is he’s elite there too. Although the 2016draft at least on the pitching side is looking awfully good with Burnes,Brown and Webb just to name a few.
  8. Pretty sure he was the opposing pitcher in the "sim" game that Nelson pitched. Yes, I think your right. Thanks,I feel better now.
  9. Wondering why chase’s Start skipped the other day?
  10. I think it’s “silly” to ignore the way he’s pitching right now. Looks like his stuff is as good or better than ever, he’s healthy and just needs innings. As far as 2017 being an outlier, I beg to differ, in fact I think most of us who watched him pitch in 2017 had seen Jimmy turn the corner, and that was the ace pitcher he would be moving forward.
  11. He could pitch better than ever, and he still won't start opening day.... just can't see the team putting the extra pressure on him from the get go.... no reason for it. I made that prediction before I found out he only pitching only one inning against sox. So yeah, prob not gonna happen now.
  12. Velocity will get better the more he pitches as he builds up his arm strength. Breaking stuff sounds really good now. Happy he’s pitching in games again!
  13. I agree with you on Sanchez. His arm is absolutely electric. He may need for seasoning, but he's got late-inning power relief arm written all over him. Another one of those guys who has seemingly come out of nowhere and looks like he's going to make a major impact. Sanchez,Webb,Brown, perdomo hopin one or more can Help the big club out of the pen this year.
  14. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of this guy. Hoping he pitches well enough at Biloxi to force the brewers hand. Mid to upper 90s heat from the left side can always be used on the big club.
  15. Right, I am not saying Davies can't be good, once again pretty solid guy to have. On a competing team probably more of a #4 guy, but I can see #3 with improvement. Not sure I see that though. Brewers staff goes seven deep with strength. I think Davies a quality number 4 The other six being better than that this year. Easily the most underrated starting staff in the National League.
  16. Can never have enough starting pitching. So many people are writing off Anderson and Davies after down years last year. Anderson put up arguably ace-type numbers in 2017, though, and Davies was a strong #2-3 starter. If those two can approach that production again, the starting staff is in a very good place. I have zero concerns with their starting pitching. And IF Jeffress comes back and is throwing 95-97 again then I’ll have zero concern over the bullpen. I’ll stop beating the Kimbrell drum and give the brewers the benefit of doubt in regards to Jeffress. But if Jeffress isn’t right.....
  17. Could have been a long term thing, could have been short term. But his games and innings over the last 4 years just shows what I'm saying about him being overworked, because even in that role for years he didn't get as much use as last year. I mean, he was already on the high end for relievers before last year even started, and then he set a career high in innings and games before the playoffs even started. I don't remember him working over multiple innings on a regular basis like he did last year either. Arm fatigue with no structural damage is pretty hard to prove or refute either way, but for someone to suggest it's silly and I just have an agenda and there's no evidence of it is kind of ridiculous. It would honestly be hard to imagine the evidence aligning more perfectly with the theory. How do we know for sure it’s “Arm Fatigue” and not structural damage of some sort. They said no need for tests “Right Now”. Why not do tests to know for sure what’s going on here with the shoulder. Don’t the brewers have multi million dollar state of the art science wing that I’m assuming has an MRI they can use. What am I missing here?
  18. Don't forget how he plunked Braun... Right before Schoop hit that salami off him. Recently re-watched that, and ENJOYED watching Schoop hit that drive. Anything we can do to improve our team now so we don’t need a pitcher like this idiot near or at deadline I’m for.
  19. We don’t know if he would have signed with us for 5 mil. He might just want to pitch for the astros.
  20. 6 years 100 mil-no. 3 years 50 mil-yes. From what I’ve read no teams offering more than 2 years. I might even go 4 years, but don’t think I’d have to. We have the money to sign him.
  21. Fantastic take Mr.T Plush. 49 years & this franchise has never won a World Series.some of us fans are getting old like me,first game at county stadium June 1970. If not now when? We will draw 3+ Mil fans this year, more than double our market size. We have the best, most loyal fans in baseball, sorry St. Louis. Local tv ratings thru the roof, yes I know we also have the smallest market there too,but we will get an increase next year with that. There’s more, like mrTPlush already stated, so I’ll stop there. The city of Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin is ready to explode with this team. This team is maybe good enough as is, but if we can strengthen this team with a Kimbrell signing and potential trade deadline addition, and our payroll for the year is 155 mil then that’s a great investment. And that’s not even “all in” cause even if we don’t win the World Series this year there will be next year.
  22. Your right he was really good last year. Gagné had steroid inflated stats. Kimbrel unarguably one the best closers in the history of baseball. Even a 3 year contract investment would be a good value in imho. And you don’t have to trade the farm to substantially improve your team. And the more I look at our early season schedule the stronger I want our team to be before the trade deadline.
  23. And it’s a great thought, good sir. Just talked about this in the pitching thread . One or two or three years contract doesn’t matter sign him. Value will be good and he would help us win A World Series. Just think of the Chapman trade in 16.
  24. Whatever is up with his shoulder... it's a concern. There is depth... the Crew can obviously shift some folks around. Woodruff can fill in as a relief pitcher. Heck, maybe move Nelson to the pen this year. The Braves did that with Smoltz after an arm injury, and Smoltz later returned to the rotation. Good points Clancy. I suppose we can move move people around but that weakens the starting staff. IMHO this team is one pitcher away from having THE best team in national league for SURE and it’s Kimbrell. We are so close to a World Series winning team, truly go all in, invest the $, sign him,win the series. Hoping Mark A. Reads BF.Net.
