  1. Not going into the year, after he’d already ripped AA AND AAA pitching they rated him 7th. Asinine.
  2. Or other organizations. Who have updated, real time info, that publications NEVER have. My example was “And That” knows the brewers Organization much better than baseball America or minor league pipeline, and if he says the brewers minor league pitching is vastly underrated, then guess what, it’s vastly underrated. I don’t care what a publication says that doesn’t spend even 2% of the time he does talking to scouts or personally eyeballing every player stateside numerous times every year. Go back to the Grisham thread from early in the year, he knew Grisham was busting loose before any of us did. If one would just look at the pitchers on each of the brewers minor league team’s stats only, it would confirm the underrated pitching we have in this system.
  3. Sounds good and all but if I recall the new person running Atl is tied to him back from his Tor days and that's why he went there due to relationship. I'd assume he works something out with them. Probably missed our chance on him last year. Generally agree with your lower risk track here though, maybe some other similar options like that who are bit better than Moose. Seems contrary to your posts on financials elsewhere though, haha jk. I’m predicting that Stearns goes all in next year. And because of that I am predicting an opening day payroll of 145 million. And if Nelson and Shaw aren’t tendered and Cain is traded, we’d have ~ 80 million in contracts. 65 million to invest in SS 3B CF SP Bullpen. Maybe the Braves decide to put Riley back at his natural 3B position and spend 23 million in another area?
  4. Heard he’s done for the year. source? this report from yesterday doesn't confirm that. Don’t remember, read it in one of the threads. It was in regards to the 40 man and since Saladino was injured and had no more options, he was an easy DFA.
  5. Define “must win”. Well they must win or I'll be bummed out. Does this qualify? Yes, that qualifies.
  6. Sign Donaldson to a 1 or 2 year deal, save 100 million. Get a slight downgrade but still great player that would fit the Yelich window a little better.
  7. Heard he’s done for the year.
  8. The Thumb is an big time issue moving forward. So is his being another year past prime. So is his bad year. So is his contract. In my opinion Stearns can trade him for his salary, at worst a few million going the other way. There’s a team out there for him, it’s just not the brewers. If we pay down to 15 per to trade, what could this team do with 15 million to spend elsewhere?
  9. Bingo. How can these publications be taken seriously with as often as they’re wrong on their ratings, predictions and projections? I mean, to rate Trent Grisham as only the 7th best prospect in the brewers system is laughable isn’t it?
  10. He's defied expectations as a starter so far, and proven a lot of posters here wrong in the process. I hope that continues. He’s defied the majority of posters for sure, but not the brewers, who knew going into the year he had a starters arsenal and would likely flourish if given the opportunity to start. This team doesn’t need to spend 30 million a year on an Ace, they already have one budding in Woodruff and a solid #3 in Houser, with the stuff and command of a #2 potentially moving forward. Tired of the “this team can’t develop TOR starting pitching” talk. It’s already happening as we speak.
  11. Unless they believe he could help the big league club pitching out of the pen in September, which, based on recent outings, imo, is probable. Jimmy Nelson vs Saladino with no options or Wilkerson or Stokes or T Williams, I think they roster Jimmy.
  12. I believe that Suter and Nelson can be activated after Sept. 1 and be playoff eligible, but Freitas would not be, as the AAA IL has no bearing on MLB rules. Ok, thanks. Haudricourt stated intercostal strain with Freitas, but he might heal in time for the stretch run, so assuming mid-September at the earliest. Maybe this team can be the Colorado Rockies of 07, and win all their games the last 10-12 days.
  13. As helpful as Cain is to the pitching staff because of his defense, his offense has become so abysmal(.252 .331 .679 > 76 ops+)it’s killing this offense. Especially when his poor RISP is factored in. Then consider Counsell bats him directly in front of Yelich most games and it’s no wonder this offense can’t get going. It’s too late to do anything about it this year. But, to me at least, this is a major issue this offseason for Stearns, and I’ll be fascinated to see what he does about it. The easy decision would be to think he’ll just rebound next season and stand pat. The harder decision is to trade. The smart decision imo, is to trade. If he has another year like 2019, this team is done, so why take the chance?
  14. I know a player has to be on the 25 man Aug 31 to be eligible for the playoffs, but what about Suter Nelson Who are on the 60 day and Freitas who’s injured on the AAA IL, can they be activated after and still be eligible?
  15. Nelson got into trouble in his first inning with giving up a hit and 2 BB, but got out of it without giving up a run, then K’ing the first batter the next inning, before coming out of the game. 1.1 ip 1 h 2 bb 2 Ks
  16. Maybe the brewers will go the entire year without a real hot streak, but, geez, I don’t think so. I’m gonna cling to that thought. At least for a week into September.
  17. Why is Grandal still in this game? I mean the guys trying to get thrown out of the game to be able to sit down and relax his body. But no, Counsell can’t at a minimum put him at first, with Pina in at C. Am I missing something here?
  18. Not quite as bad as it appears to be > JUICED BALL! 13 out of 15 NL teams. That's pretty bad Yes, that’s bad. But I think you know what I meant in response to your exactly worded post.
  19. Do you really think the Brewers have the money to get Rendon? He'll get $22-25M and a 4-5 year deal easily. I think he's way to expensive for the Crew. Moustakas is a better option at around $11M per for 3 years, and spend the rest they would have spent on Rendon for pitching or a SS. I'm still not sold on Grisham. He hasn't done much in a short span in the big leagues to be overly enthusiastic about him(.228/.303). Yeah I think they can fit him in. They would have to give out the largest contract in team history by quite a bit, but he’s a young enough player that I think that it would turn out alright. I don’t think he would prevent the Brewers from making other moves as there could be a ton of money off the books this offseason if Stearns decides to go that route. 17-18 million a year extra = No Cain.
  20. Not quite as bad as it appears to be > JUICED BALL!
  21. No comment from me on 2020. Let’s see what he does in September first. I don’t know anything but the stats, and based on that, he looks to have improved considerably since his last go round.
  22. Walks by appearance 0 1 1 2 0 1 1 1 2 0 You're just so amazingly bad at this. Maybe, but looking at the last 6 appearances with your BB’s with my stats, looks great, actually.
  23. Ha, maybe a little hyperbole with every level every team loaded with them. If I could edit that post, it might be more accurate to state lots and lots of really good pitching prospects scattered throughout the system.
