  1. I said back on Monday they wouldn’t win a game vs the Nats. But at least they are sorta kinda trying this game. Kapler is the worst manager in baseball, just ahead of Calloway who’s just ahead of Martinez.
  2. Or.....if we keep pouring it on......Innings 5-9 T Williams Faria Nelson Albers Burnes

  4. Cardinals having trouble beating good teams. Most overrated of all the playoff teams, been saying this for quite some time.

  6. According to Forbes April 2019: All mlb teams will get 21.6 million extra revenue from National tv(Fox,Espn,Turner)from 2022-2028. I thought it was staggered and less $. I was incorrect/Wrong. The crew will have a new local tv deal negotiated this offseason for next year, so what that will be won’t be known for some time after it’s done. With that said I’m revising my team for next year. Trade for: Josh Bell > Ray & Ashby & Rasmussen & Garcia Trade: Lorenzo Cain & 15 mil. To Whoever Trade or Non-tender or release: Shaw Perez Arcia Thames Lineup: CF > Grisham RF > Yelich 2B > Hiura 1B > Bell LF > Braun 3B > Moose(11mil) C > Pina SS > Iglesias(7mil) Bench: Freitas Spangenberg Gamel ? ? Rotation: Woodruff Lyles (8 mil) Houser Anderson Davies Gio (6 mil) Bullpen: Hader Knebel Pomeranz (9 mil) Peralta Black Wahl Guerra Suter D Williams This team’s payroll ~ 121 million + 15 mil Cain paydown.= 136 million No potential albatross contracts moving forward, Moose 3 years at 33 million, Lyles 3 years at 24 mil, Pomeranz 3 years at 27 mil. Extend Grisham & Hiura > 8 years. Burnes in AAA developing his mix of pitches. This team is vastly superior to any brewer team in recent memory, maybe ever. And with a Stearns deadline and September should be as good as any team in baseball by playoff time.

  8. My bad, I should have specified San Antonio. But ok, I just don’t get the Arcia love, especially by a reasonable, seasoned baseball fan as yourself.

  10. What we really need is for Arcia to hit .330 down to San Antonio for a couple months next year. Then he'd be a future superstar! A true, natural hitter! To believe one of the WORST hitters in baseball will hit or even defend as well as Iglesias is the “crazy” thought, then you have the bad baseball IQ, you know the “Villar” effect, that can’t be quantified analytically that brings him down even further. Arcia is such a terrible hitter(outside of the playoffs)he’d be lucky to hit .285 in the PCL. Which, as you know is 100 points lower than Grisham or Freitas hit there. Oh, and the both of them(Grisham,Freitas)are actually pinch hitting at about the same rate 1-12. At some point moving forward, this site, you know, the 96% of which said the brewers weren’t going on a run in September, even though Stearns/Counsell the last 2 September’s dominated their competition, will realize how foolish they were again with regards to Freitas. It won’t be this year, you can thank his injury and Grandal for that.

  12. Exactly! Arcia obviously has a lower floor than Iglesias, but he offers a higher ceiling as well. It's risky to dump a guy who is 25 and has yet to reach his theoretical prime for a guy who may be already past his. 2 pea’s in a pod, choosing to die on a really odd hill. Talk about me doubling down!
  13. The reds claimed Galvis, and his 5.5 million option with 1 mil buyout. Imo, to protect themselves if the bidding got too high with Iglesias. It’s more than just stats with this guy too, intangibles not reflected by War add to his value. All you need is 2 teams that want him(Mke&Cin)for him to potentially get a multi-year deal, and I believe there will be another team or two that would love to have this guy.
  14. They probably would keep him and do want him back. They have a 5.5 million option on Galvis with a 1 mil buyout, so, imo, they go with Iglesias, unless the money gets to be too much and, or they don’t want to go multi-year.
  15. I stand by my comment of having 6-7 reliable arms out of the pen. We’ll just have to play the games. We’ve played enough games to have a magic # of 1 to get to the playoffs now and this pitching staff for the month of September: ERA > 2.81 > #1 in all of baseball. 18-4 > #1 in all of baseball.
  16. Agree. My guess is 2/16 or 3/21. Well worth the $.
  17. I agree that those advocating throwing money at players like Iglesias and Galvis are making total knee-jerk reactions. They simply want them because they are not Orlando Arcia. If the Brewers are going to spend that kind of coin, in my opinion they need to make sure the player they choose is a sizable improvement offensively, while not taking a sizable step back defensively. Neither Galvis nor Iglesias are that. If you can't make that type of improvement, ride with Arcia another year, in the hope that possibly Turang may be ready sometime in 2021. Total knee-jerk reactions? Simply want them because they are not Orlando Arcia? Talk about condescending. Maybe you didn’t read Svuem’s posts, if not I’d suggest you do, and then how about this: Iglesias > +5.7 UZR > 9th in all of baseball, .828 OPS with RISP, #1 IN ALL OF BASEBALL hitting with 2 strikes. He’s fast, runs all out to 1B on every play, like our own Spangenberg, all out hustle all the time. These are benefits not reflected with WAR. High baseball IQ, another words the polar opposite of Arcia. Knee-jerk?
  18. Can’t take pitches with this guy, first pitch aggression warranted.
  19. Yes there is. Maybe their starters can overcome their playoff history. Maybe not. Expectations will certainly be for their trio to shut us down completely without Yelich, and since we don’t have any “great” starters like they do, for them to score runs early and go on to win the game. But, underdogs in baseball, no matter how big, can certainly upset the applecart, especially for one game.
  20. And unless we go 5-1 or a minimum of 4-2, we’re probably not getting that either. I’d be surprised if the Phillies win a game out of next 4. Looks like we’re gonna just have to be massive underdogs. Facing Strasburg, Corbin, Scherzer will make us as big of dogs as can be. Although Nats fans won’t rock the house, like cards fans, fairly quiet, and with their playoff history, can probably cut the tension in that place with a knife.
