  1. Will be, yes, by the end of 2021. Right now Cole DeGrom Buehler Verlander Scherzer Snell Maybe Greinke Maybe Strasburg. But by the end of next year DeGrom Verlander Scherzer Greinke Strasburg will be replaced by: Cole Buehler Woodruff Glasnow Snell. And what do you foresee happening to DeGrom, Verlander, Scherzer and Strausburg in the next year? Not to mention the other dozen or so pitchers who are probably firmly ahead of Woodruff as of now. How about Luis Castillo from the Reds? Ohtani, Bieber, Flaherty...and about a dozen or so other guys. And there is just absolutely no reason to think Scherzer and the rest of the best in the game right now will just fall off a cliff suddenly. Verlander is still throwing as hard as he has his entire career. Also...what makes you think Woodruff is going to start throwing OVER 100 MPH or that it'd even be a good thing if he did? I mean....just thinking he's going to be an ace is reasonable. But you always take it an extra step or 5 too far. Woodruff should be a legitimate ace next year based on how he pitched this year, his stuff and another year of experience. But Burnes should have been at least a #3/4 this year in his first full year or starting. Optimism is great, but you set yourself up for the type of...disdain you felt for Stearns at the deadline when you set your expectations so absurdly high and then you blame it on others for the Brewers failing to meet the standards you've set. We’ll just have to disagree on this one. He touched 100 a few times this year, so it’s only 1 tick higher, not throw a 101, touch it > 96-101. Same velo as Cole, who by the way, is what Woodruff will look like soon, just without the big breaking ball, but a better change up. Just a little better command and he’s in the top 3.
  2. Pitching staff getting close to the best staff statistically since September 1. This is obviously our ticket to the dance. Just need some clutch hits, some more bloops to fall, a player like Grisham to get hot, and we can beat anybody. Nothing more important than a ridiculous bullpen. Trumps great starting pitching, hitting, whatever. And we got it AGAIN!!!!!!!
  3. I'm kinda hoping the Cubs pull out the next two against the Cardinals now. That's about the only way the Brewers still have a shot at the division now. Greed is good?
  4. He’s still throwing pen sessions, working on stuff.
  5. Yes ... Tyler Saladino. That's it. I mean, so many people want Arcia gone, but I haven't really seen a viable alternative yet that's not going to cost $15+ million per year on a multi-year deal. Jose Iglesias 2 year 20 million.
  6. We’ve beaten him before. Our lineup is better vs RHP.
  7. Good pitching beats good hitting. That and a few clutch hits at the right time can win a lot of games.
  8. Cardinals can have the Central, as long as they keep beating the Cubbies. Get this WC clinched ASAP. No greed here.
  9. Cubbies tanked for 3+ years, accumulated high draft picks(Bryant)spent trillions on international players, made a couple good trades(Rizzo Arrietta)signed a FA or two(Lester)hires Madden and viola > title. 3 years later 230+ payroll, bad farm, stale team. Ricketts is done with Theo/Hoyer imo, he’ll hire the young smart Analytic GM, like the dodgers did with Friedman and the giants with farhan, they’ll sell a Bryant Baez Schwarber and re-tool in a year or two, spend 230 and win forever.
  10. Glad Grandal’s not catching, Pina hits Lefties this year really well. Maybe Grandal can catch his third wind, no pun intended.
  11. Ok. That’s a fair assessment. I guess the difference being with me, is, I think, Woodruff has lots of room to get better, I believe his command will improve, and for a 1-2 year period of time will touch 101, with a plus plus Change, and plus slider. As good of pure stuff than any pitcher in baseball.
  12. I actually would like to see Houser in the pen for the playoffs. I’m thinking a possible innings limit? I think he’s 20+ innings past his previous high right now. But also, with only needing 4-5 innings out of our starters anyhow, Woodruff Lyles and one of Davies Anderson should suffice in the DS. Houser would give us 3-4 strong out of the pen, giving us 2 pen arms(Suter)that can go more than 2.
  13. Will be, yes, by the end of 2021. Right now Cole DeGrom Buehler Verlander Scherzer Snell Maybe Greinke Maybe Strasburg. But by the end of next year DeGrom Verlander Scherzer Greinke Strasburg will be replaced by: Cole Buehler Woodruff Glasnow Snell. ummmmm...What? Woodruff wont even be top 5 in the NL by the end of 2021 Guys under 27 - Flaherty / Castillo / Paddock / Soroka / Buehler Guys in 30's that will still be better - deGrom / Corbin And thats just the NL And and and and > that’s your opinion. I’ll stand by mine. People here are seriously underrating Woody. You can have Flaherty, I’ll take Woodruff.
  14. Sign Kimbrel > BC92 > wrong Cheapskate > Nutting > Pirates owner Attanasio > ????? Time will tell(next year we should have a better idea)if we make the playoffs again and at least get to the DS, then a Payroll ~ 20 mil higher next year with at least that much extra revenue, would be reasonable, assuming we’re really trying to win, and not re-tool.
  15. Sure. When I say no way they lose that game, I say that knowing it’s baseball, and of course we could lose, even assuming we’d still have tons of momentum, which is only as good as the next games starting pitcher. But Destiny is tough to overcome.
  16. I admire the confidence in us automatically winning the WC game despite the notable disadvantage we would have. No way we lose that WC game. Pressure is on them, not us. Our pitching will dominate. We hit great established starters. Same with the dodger series, pressure will be enormous on them, not us, and that could mean the difference.
  17. Yes, agree, get in should be the priority. And if we keep winning, but don’t pass the Cards, beating out the Nats and hosting the WC game would be fantastic. Ricketts is getting rid of Theo & co, which imo, is not good for us. 2020 yes, beyond no. He’ll go young Brainiac, and with a 1-2 year re-tool and 240 million payroll, should be the dodgers and win forever.
  18. Brault’s ERA took a hit with those wind blown hr’s given up last weekend. But, it doesn’t matter anyhow, I’d be shocked if the brewers lose any games this weekend. But it’s still baseball. It’s been really comical listening to national talking heads commenting on the crew, talk about clueless. They really don’t know what to say, other than, gee, maybe they get in because of their easy schedule. We know it’s so much more than that, and if we get in, and I believe we will, we’re gonna be such huge underdogs, from the Play in game, if needed, to the Wild card game and beyond, that upset after upset will make it better than we ever could have imagined it could be. Here we go brewers-Here we go! For you youngins that’s the 82 chant at county stadium.
  19. Cardinals bullpen regressing at the right time. They might still hang on, but, they are vulnerable. Yelich-less brewers are better. We’ll see what happens these last 9 games.
  20. Not really. They still could have as many as 16 pitchers, more likely 15. That's still 10 in the pen. Do they use 10 now? No. The reason the pen is so much better at the end of the season are acquisitions and one or two guys promoted. Exactly. Suter’s pitching AND AURA changed the team. Peralta finding his control in AAA. Pomeranz settling in and dominating. Black has been useful. Lyles has continued his “Ace” like pitching thru September. Jackson has settled and improved, Claudio has been good for 2+ months. Hader with his slider. Guerra has been good. Then there’s the Spangenberg clutch hitting, speed defense hustle effect. Austin Freitas Taylor were winners down below and have brought that with them. And finally, we have the Stearns/Counsell September Confidence. 3rd year in a row, it’s there, there’s no denying it. It’ll be there next year too. 9-10 in the pen is plenty, Only 8-9 are helping us right now, and look at what their doing.
  21. Black is a useful pitcher right now, as long as we keep him away from high leverage situations like last Sunday. Maybe some day with this guy it’ll just click. Good pick-up for next year though. I’ll take the potential ceiling of Black over the high floor of Dubon.
  22. 5 innings. It's been 5 innings since the end of his last really bad stretch. I like Peralta a lot. When he's right, he can be as good as anyone in that pen. But he looked like he was emerging as a late inning option in July for a stretch and then regressed very badly to the point where we had to send him back down. He's starting to put it together again, but let's give it some time. Sure thing. I admit, there’s still a couple of butterflies in the gut when Freddy comes in. But, he seems different now, like something clicked for him in AAA, cause he’s been unreal since the call-up.
