  1. Gray has made us look silly already this year, so I’m expecting more of the same. Houser is certainly capable of holding the reds at bay for 4-5 innings. Gray doesn’t waste pitches, so expecting to get to reds pen before the 8th probably not happening. 1-0, 2-1, win or loss could happen here. Or warning track outs in most parks could fly out in this bandbox.
  2. It was almost impossible watching the Phillies play vs the Nats. Kapler has to be the worst manager in baseball history. His team has totally given up, listless, just like last year, when they finished with 8 or 9 losses in a row. If he’s not fired tonight or tomorrow night after they get swept in the doubleheader, the Nats will win these next 4 games.
  3. Mets loss puts them 5 back. Phillies done. I think the Cubbies could definitely lose a game to the pirates. Pittsburgh embarrassed by Cubbies last weekend, will come back to haunt them. Day off and a possible Hurdle meeting with his injured and undermanned team, imo, will have them playing the 3 games with everything they have. They win at least 1. Book it.
  4. I at least respect your opinion. Yes, read my posts and comment if you like.
  5. I don't even bother reading anymore. If you feed the animals, they will keep coming back. No actual refute again, just the same old, crude irritating comments.
  6. No sir. The Fox National tv Deal is public knowledge, and so will the Turner/Espn done this offseason. Local tv deal is an estimate. So the 9 million Fox is fact, the other 2 are estimates. I’m purposely being conservative with my two estimates, or 3 if you include playoffs. You can keep saying the same ole same ole. Or actually check for yourself, and then refute, if you disagree, but imo, you won’t, either because you don’t want to know or it’s too much fun for you to continue to rag on my every post. Did you actually look over my original post? Be specific in your critique, like The last poster was.
  7. Imo Stearns will not go anywhere close to $155M next year. There is nobody going to take Cain's contract, even with $12 added. He is owed $51M over the next 3 years and nobody would even consider him unless the Brewers paid at least half ($25.5M) his salary to take him. Especially with all the injuries he's had this year and his age. CC won't keep 3 catchers. Freitas will again be in AAA or with yet another team next year. You see how much the Brewers think of Freitas when Pina got hurt. He didn't catch an inning and was used as an early PH only. They have little or no use for him other than a minor league fill-in. $6M for Gio is way too much. He made $2M this year and there is little demand for a 3-4 inning starter. Maybe $3M at best to bring him back. I too think Perez is gone and Shaw will be used as part of a pkg. in a trade. Re-signing Moose is priority 1. I think you're a little high with Lyle's salary, but Pomeranz could command maybe that much with his showing out of the pen this year. Firstly, this year’s 127, with inflation & ~ 19 added(tv)= 148-150 giving close to the same profit to Atanassio & investors as this year. Not including a possible playoff run again 1-20 million in extra revenue. So if we’re to go for it again next year with Yelich aboard > why wouldn’t we at least equal this last year’s payroll, relative to the clubs extra revenue? Secondly, if we keep Cain, that’s fine, maybe he can re-coup a little offensively, without defensive regression? I doubt it. But ok, let’s keep him and hope his knee and thumb are fixed. Add 5 mil to the payroll, all we got to do is win a couple of playoff games to pay for that. And if we lose the wild card game, oh well, it’s just 5 million. Not much if you consider this team would more than likely make a deep run, adding another 10-20 million in revenue. Yeah, Freitas was injured, rib-cage, imo, that’s why we’re not seeing him at all in the field at 1B or C. I could be wrong, but, that injury is not good for a C. I’d want him on the 26, to be the RH C or 1B vs Lefties. For 160 million, this team would dominate the central, vast improvement from the reds, notwithstanding, and definitely get deep into the playoffs, again, paying itself for the payroll.
  8. Prospects can be replaced overnight in a re-tool/rebuild. It just depends on what Stearns & co. Think of Bell in MKE, surrounded by Yelich and Hiura, playing for a contender in front of 29,000-44,000 fans every game, with our short rt. Field fence, with 3 years of control, just entering his baseball prime. Personally, since I believe next year to be an absolute “ALL IN” I want him badly enough to give up 5 prospects. Good trade idea Clancy!
  9. It’s 5 not 4. Kapler is done, his teams don’t listen to his foolish talk, and have quit on him for the 2nd year in a row. But Martinez is almost as bad, so, this should actually be closer than it should be.
  10. I'd put Jackson on the roster over Black. He can be devastating against righties when he's on. Black seems like more of a wildcard right now. 100% agree here. More RHH’s than left, Roogy more important than Loogy. Black’s terrible high leverage outing vs St Louis late in that game hurts his chances.
  11. Disagree. This guy just tapping into his potential and just entering his prime, agree with Nate82, in that it won’t be prohibitive, prospects wise to get a deal done. But also think a deal doesn’t necessarily have to include Turang. Bell > Ray & Lutz & Rasmussen & Henry & lottery.
  12. After listening to Woodruff’s interview after yesterday’s game, he’s at best a 3 inning force, at least early in these playoffs. Sounds like this 2 month’s from game action, is too much to overcome. Hopefully he can get up to 50-55 pitches before fatigue sets in at some point moving forward. With our bullpen, he will still be a huge weapon in these playoffs, just like he was last year.
  13. I believe Neil Huntington is gone after this year, and the new GM will tank next year so, with that said, Bell will be available, and the pirates will want the best prospects they can get. No way they want Thames or Davies. My package would be Lutz & Ray & Rasmussen & Henry.
  14. This is my plan for next year Non-tender or trade: Shaw Perez Lineup: LF > Grisham RF > Yelich 2B > Hiura 3B > Moose(11mil) 1B > Braun/Thames CF > Cain C > Pina SS > Iglesias(8mil) Bench: Braun/Thames Freitas Gamel Spangenberg Arcia Rotation: Woodruff Houser Lyles (9 mil) Anderson Davies Gio (6 mil) Bullpen: Hader Pomeranz (9 mil) Knebel Peralta Black Wahl Suter Jackson Payroll > 127 million ~ same as last year. Outside of Cole and Strasburg, FA pitchers meh. So I keep Anderson and sign Gio. ** re-made my team because of a MISTAKE/ERROR I MADE > National tv $ is 21.6 million per team extra, but DOESN’T START UNTIL 2022. I said previously 9 million in 20 and 8-9 more in 21. So I was off on the starting date and underestimated the $. The local tv deal should increase for next year and hopefully the team will have 2019 playoff revenue. ** ** April 2019 Forbes Article **
  15. The days of GM’s getting into bidding wars over players are 98% over. Maybe, with a Cole, but doubt it over the 5 players we’re talking about here.
  16. .287 > Stronger even than it looks, because he was the reds best clutch hitter. Hey, if I’m off, and he can be had for 5-8, it’s the best signing of this coming year, just like his 2.5 was the best signing last year.
  17. I agree with you that we need to upgrade at SS. And I also agree that Iglesias should be our target. But I think it will cost closer to 8-10 mil. I would absolutely pay that, and tell him your our SS. Period. Reds are my home market team, and I watch a lot of their games. Iglesias is a fantastic defensive SS, a really good hitter, a great clutch hitter(best 2 strike hitter statistically in all of baseball), runs hard to 1B on every play, and is a leader. I’d call him one of the most underrated players in all of baseball. Overpay if necessary to steal him away from the reds, that signing alone would not just strengthen us, but just as important would hurt what could be our toughest competition for the central next year. Can’t overpay at every position. Also can’t have 8+ mil guys at 7 of the 8 starting positional players. Leaves nothing for pitching. Just won’t work. Stearns likes our pitching, I like our pitching. Imo, we don’t need as much pitching help as positional help. Iglesias’s war not helped by his intangibles, all out hustle, clutch hitting etc., so his value is higher than his stats. ‘
  18. Glad the Cubbies lost again. I just want in the playoffs. 4 games up is big. DBacks still in it, they can beat the Cardinals. Not counting on the Phillies to do much from here on out, but the tribe will go to DC having to win to get that last WC. This will be a great week of baseball.
  19. It is for me. Our pitching right now is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUSLY OUTRAGEOUSLY MASSIVELY THE BEST EVER!!!! There, someone had to say it.
  20. I think Gio for 2-3 today, then get our stud pen arms some work, it’s been a while for some of them, plus off day tomorrow, don’t want rust.
  21. I believe they want options for Brandon, depending on if it’s a wild card game, or play-in, or DS game. Blurred lines this postseason. He could be pitching like he did last year. 3 innings at 97-100.
