  1. Grisham with another home run. AAA not much of a challenge for him.
  2. Ian Kennedy should be an arm for the pen that we should be in on. He’s vastly overpaid, but is a veteran starter turned closer, that is having a good year. Imo, we need 2 additional late inning arms, and we could get this guy for a very low prospect return if we take on a significant portion of his salary. He’s owed ~ 5.5 this year and 16.5 next. Kennedy & 9.5 > T Williams & Barnes
  3. Grisham Yelich Hiura This triumvirate makes me even giddier!
  4. Devin Williams 2 batters faced 2Ks. He’s been soooooooo dominant it’s ridiculous. This guy we can use in the pen now please.
  5. That’s the prudent thing to do IF the big league offense wasn’t underperforming the entire year. Imo, he’s ready to rake big league pitching. Maybe he is ready, maybe he isn't. Both Braun & Cain are highly paid veteran team leaders who have performed adequately throughout the season so I don't believe the organization would sit either down the stretch while fighting for a playoff spot (barring the aforementioned variables). I get what your saying, we’ll see what happens over the next 6 weeks if he’s not traded, fingers crossed. I believe this team can use another good hitter in the lineup, but maybe the offense can surprise me and get it going.

  7. I guess if you look at the final box score instead of the actual game, that's not a good line. If you watch the actual game without bias, that game he obviously threw the ball well. He left with Riley on after he reached on fly ball to Braun that should have been caught. And other than Freeman's shot, the Braves weren't getting good swings off him. It's one start, it hardly means anything, but it's funny how the person who's a big fan of him thinks it's proof he's finally ready and the guy who has been bashing him...continues to bash him. Clearly he threw the ball well and ended up with a line that wasn't indicative of how he threw the ball. But he'll have other starts to prove one of you right. What I said is he’s finally STRETCHED to be a starter. But since he’s going back to the pen, it might be a while before he starts again. Next year he’s in the rotation.
  8. I'm starting to think Grisham should get called up this year, and maybe even before September. I've been torn on this. He's still only 22, and as good as he has been, he probably still has some development in front of him. We've waited a long time for him to deliver on his potential and I think we need to resist the temptation to rush things now. 100% he gets added to the 40 in the offseason and maybe follows the Hiura path next year for a callup schedule. This offense needs something to get it going, his elite plate approach will transfer to the big leagues, and maybe it’ll rub off a little too.
  9. Hopefully other clubs like him and he brings back something big at the deadline for the Crew He better not get traded, this moribund offense can use his bat any day now.
  10. If I had to guess right now, the Giants sell, the DBacks buy. Arizona is, IMO, the surprise team in the NL, and after destroying the Rangers last night 19- 3, i now believe they could be buyers depending on the next 12 days. This weekends series will be interesting to say the least.
  11. Actually, Anderson has reached the 3rd time through the line-up in EIGHT of his starts this year. To be fair, he's on a very short leash after the 2nd timed through. It's not just an Anderson thing though, it applies to all the starters. But Anderson carries a lot more history with him than some of the younger starters, so the data is there to be very careful with him after 2nd time through. That's just smart. The key will be 2 out of Peralta, Burnes, Houser need to step up and pitch very well down the stretch. If they do that, we will see more of what you (and others) have brought up before. Formula would be solid 5 inning starts, then 2-3 innings from Peralta, Burnes, Houser, bridge to Jeffress and/or Hader. (Or mop-up guy depending on game situation.) That's not a piggy-back or tandem, etc. Just more games where the long relievers get involved. Easier said than done though. Rotation has to deliver a lot more "Brewer Quality Starts" which is 5 innings/2 runs. And then you need the young long relievers to be consistently really good. No more time for anyone to "work it out." Do all of that, and they still have t probably trade for another late inning reliever. So it's possible for the pitching staff to be good enough, just need a lot of dominos to fall the right way. Lots of interesting idea’s. Agree that 2 of Houser Peralta Burnes need to pitch well down the stretch. If Stearns adds a Starter(Ray?Stroman?Wheeler?MadBum?)And an experienced late inning pen arm, this will be a staff with ridiculous amounts of options, and could be dominant going into the playoffs.
  12. I’m probably the only one that’s gonna boo this move, but I get it. I also believe there’s a possibility of Jimmy being a real weapon out of the pen, but it’s gonna be all about his command of his pitches. I also think, one pen arm acquisition would be the max now, imo, with The aforementioned info.
  13. I’ve read the Rangers want a top 50 & top 100 & another. If that’s accurate, No Thanks.
  14. The difference between Ray & Grisham is Massive. Ray Ks like many big league brewers do now, while Grisham is exactly the type of hitter this offense needs, low K, high on base, with power. Rare combination, that’s why he can help now, plate approach matters. I give you credit. When you get your mind on something, you go ALL IN, and no one is going to get you off of that idea, no matter how much logic is presented. I totally get that there is a difference in approach between Ray and Grisham. But that really wasn't the point I was attempting to make. Obviously the Brewers felt that the season Corey Ray had in 2018 was impressive enough, warts and all, to honor him with their player of the year honor. Grisham is having an outstanding season, and is trending toward perhaps receiving that honor this year. While that is obviously great, it doesn't mean that calling him up, putting Braun on the bench and Gamel in San Antonio, it the prudent course of action at this time. Ok, I’d say your right if the crew’s offense from Cain/Braun/Gamel is good, and the team’s overall offense is doing its job, but up until yesterday, the offense has been poor for an extended period of time, and a much better bat than Gamel, that could spell Cain and Braun, for AB’s could at some point inject some excitement into this lineup. I hope the offense doesn’t need him, and we can wait till the end of August to call him up, but if not he’s an option, at least in my opinion.
  15. I totally get the Houser to the pen idea, statistically speaking and eye test shows he dominated out of the pen. And the pen does need help. But, I’m assuming Stearns gets bullpen help @ the deadline, allowing for Houser to remain in the rotation, and Anderson, by my eyes, looked good out of the pen, with his FB at 95+. But the biggest reason for me is Counsell, and his refusal to allow Chase to go 3rd time thru no matter how well he’s pitching, which hurts the pen. I like Chase in the rotation too, but CC’s stubborn, irritating refusal to let chase pitch, seals his fate, to me at least.

  17. Keith , I’ve re-thought my trade idea’s after reading your post. I believe the tribe to want to win, and they need Bauer to do that so, I agree, he’s off the table. And after reading JosephC’s trade proposal on Ray, and your critique on my trades: Trade for Robbie Ray. Ray > Turang & Supek & Bello Trade for Alex Colome. Colome > lutz/Ray & B Francis & Diplan Trade for Ian Kennedy. Kennedy & 9.5 mil > Z Brown & Barnes Trade Chacín > lottery Trade Albers > lottery Rotation: Woodruff Ray Davies Houser Gio/Peralta Bullpen: Anderson Gio/Peralta Guerra D Williams Jeffress Kennedy Hader Colome
