  1. Good take jjfanec. The post your referring to is Ender’s #1298, which I also agree with. Mostly agree with your take on our pitching staff, only thing I’d do different is keep Houser in the rotation, now that he’s finally stretched out I believe he can not only be a quality starter, but pitch deeper into games than Chase, who I would put into the pen when Gio comes back. Counsell won’t let Anderson go 3rd time thru, and that’s hurting the pen, so to the pen he should go.
  2. When we “lose” Yelich, it’ll be by choice, and the 4-7(depending on next offseason or the following)stud prospects received along with the 4-5 from trading Hader will give Stearns what he needs to give us an even better window of championship contention.
  3. From Spring Training on, this guy’s been consistently elite all year. With his discerning eye, he could help our offense right now.
  4. I’m actually picking the Brewers in 7 in this year’s NL championship series. Freitas with a big 2 run pinch hit double in the ninth, Colome with the save.
  5. Perfectly stated. 1.) why extend when the first year of said extension is the first year of past prime Yelich? 2.) imo, Yelich will need to be traded this offseason or next year’s deadline or next offseason, depending on our window of title contention. I believe with the right moves and payroll, we can still win this year and next. But if Stearns feels this team can’t win a title then he should Trade not just Yelich, but Hader as well this offseason. The prospect haul we would get for those two alone would give us the best farm in baseball overnight.
  6. I hope they don’t trade him either, he’s exactly what this offense needs, high on base, power hitting, low K potential star in the making. Disagree with leaving him in AAA. I option Gamel, Roster Grisham, and find ABs for him now. He can platoon with Braun, and give Cain some rest. This guy can help this offense now. Gamel has done nothing to not deserve being on the roster. He's been a pretty great 4th OF, which is exactly why they got him. He isn't going anywhere. As Clint said to Gene in unforgiven, deserves got nothin to do with it. I’d probably wait till after the deadline to make sure he’s not traded first, then make the move, TO INJECT SOME NEW BLOOD INTO THIS OFFENSE.
  7. I believe our window to a title ends after 2020. So here’s what I do: Trade for Trevor Bauer. Bauer > Ray/Lutz & Turang & Ashby & Lemons Trade for Robbie Ray. Ray > Burnes & Peralta Trade for Alex Colome. Dubon & Diplan & Greip Trade for Ian Kennedy. Kennedy & 9.5 mil. > T Williams & P Henry Trade Chacín > prospects Trade Albers > prospects Rotation: Bauer Woodruff Ray Houser Davies Bullpen: Anderson Peralta Gio Guerra Jeffress Kennedy Hader Colome I try to win this year with the pitching I’ve traded for, and since I have them all back, I can go for it again next year. Then after next year I Trade Yelich and Hader and Woodruff for 12 Stud prospects, offer QO’s to Bauer and Ray, so I get 2 supplemental 1st round picks plus my own 1st rounder, and I rebuild with the best farm in the game, all done in one offseason. I convince my owner to raise the payroll For ONE ALL IN YEAR, with the understanding of the sell-off reducing payroll to ridiculously low figures for 1-3 years.
  8. Then you must not have been watching the game. 2 hard hit balls all night, and one of them should have been caught. Pitched 6 innings, and gave the team a chance to win the game. He’s now stretched out, so outside of the cardinals start early in the year, he finally has the stamina to pitch like a starter. Oh, and the 3 run home run he gave up to Freeman was a good pitch, Freeman just a great hitter.
  9. Devin Williams with another dominant performance. When are we going to see him help our big league pen? Scouts seem to think he’s ready.
  10. That's where I'm at. Burnes just isn't as advanced as Woodruff is right now. Houser has started far more games in the minors than Woodruff and he isn't nearly as advanced as Woodruff either. Despite what the tv people say, Houser has stunk as a starter so far. 6 starts -- 23 IPs -- 36 hits -- 20 ERs -- 6 HRs -- 10 BBs. Not as bad as Burnes, but still horrible. Despite the hype for both Burnes' and Houser's 4 pitch mix, neither has shown they can start in the big leagues and do the job. Houser is way ahead of Burnes, and now that he’s FINALLY stretched, pitched well vs the Braves. Houser has good command of his pitches, Burnes does not. No clue really why your comparing the two. But whatever.
  11. The pitching stinks, you were wrong, just own it and move on, rather than this constant rationalization to excuse every pitcher on the staff that you like from blame. The pitching, imo, can be fixed easier. With 2 quality pen arms it won’t “stink”. But go ahead and tell me the offense statistically somehow isn’t bad. Even though anyone with a set of eyes can see that it is.
  12. Like your thought, offense, defense and pitching has been bad, all 25 responsible. We’ll check that 22. Yelich Woody Hader can skip the meeting
  13. 2 hard hit balls off Houser all night, and one of em should have been caught.
  14. Wouldn’t be too sure bout that, I can think of a pitcher or two I’d rather be in the pen than Houser.
  15. If the Stearns decides to sell, it should be because of the offense, not the pitching.
  17. Tyler Saladino had an OPS of .943 at the time of his call-up. You have made the mistake of getting infatuated with AAA stats several times this season. I remember post after post from you calling for the Brewers to insert Aaron Wilkerson in the rotation due to his outstanding work at AAA. Yeah, sometimes AAA stats do mean something ... but typically its when trying to decide whether to call up a prospect. In the case of Saladino, Wilkerson, Freitas, or any of the other AAAA-types you've attached yourself to this year, those stats are not very important. Haven’t ever attached myself to Saladino. .943 because of power is not the same as .950 because of actual hitting ability. I’ll take my chances the last 2 1/2 months on his .450 on base hitting ability.
  18. Exactly, bullpen reinforcements are exactly what this team needs to be able to win the central. I’d do the following with the aforementioned pen reinforcements: Trade Chacín for prospects. Trade Grandal for prospects Gio replaces Chacín. Freitas replaces Grandal Don’t need Chacín with Gio/Peralta Freitas can hit and defend, less than 100 ab’s At .214 in ML not enough to judge, last 2 years .950+ ops 500 ab’s, .450+ on base telling, non K bat too. At least he gets a real shot to show us what he can do. At least one of the 2 pen reinforcements should be controlled past this year, but hoping for both. Where do you get Freitas can hit and defend? Freitas is a career minor leaguer who is an average defensive catcher and has failed to hit MLB pitching. He's almost 31 yrs. old and hitting in the very friendly PCL. There's a reason he has spent 10+ years in the minor leagues. Chacin wouldn't be a huge loss, even though Peralta has proven he isn't a starting pitcher until he gets a third pitch and a consistent breaking ball. Grandal would be a huge loss to the offense. Your trades would mean the Brewers are giving up on the season. Again, less than 110 total mlb ab’s. Some guys just figure it out. Max muncy. He’s not just hitting the pcl pitching at an expected above average rate, he’s way beyond that. .365 .450. Not including his 2 doubles in the AAA all-star game off 2 pretty good pitchers.

At least he gets a real shot to show us what he can do. At least one of the 2 pen reinforcements should be controlled past this year, but hoping for both. So you want to go for it and win the Central, and deal off the team's All-Star catcher and a solid starter? Umm, teams don't do this. You decide if you're a buyer or not, and make moves accordingly. They aren't going to make "buy" moves, and then turn around and trade away Chacin and Grandal. Yes, where is it written in concrete that you can’t do both? If I can’t get a decent prospect for Chacín, I keep him. But Grandal is my #1 tradable asset, so I eat his salary to get better prospects. Freitas will help our offense with his contact orientated approach at the plate, and better defense.
  20. Hoping it’s the other Williams, Devin, but with Stearns depth compulsion overriding talent, not gonna hold my breath.

  22. Says the guy who continues to insist he'll be in the September playoff rotation. It is Burnes' fault. He's paid to get outs. He isn't doing it. It can certainly be argued that management isn't putting him in a spot to succeed, but excluding him from all blame is a clear cop out. Actually, I’ve been saying he should’ve been in AAA for more than a month, working on his pitches, starting.
  23. Not Burnes fault, he should have been in AAA throwing 100 pitches a game working on his pitches. Insanity.
