  1. The Twins front office is now led by Derek Falvey. The Twins have done a masterful job building a competitive roster since his hire in the Fall of 2016. Falvey and Stearns were with the Cleveland Indians at the same time in 2012 (they were co-directors of baseball operations), with Stearns reportedly focused on player contracts, data analysis, and strategy, while Falvey worked on player acquisitions. During 2015-2016 Falvey was the Indians Asst. GM, which included pulling off the Andrew Miller trade at the deadline in 2016 (trading away Clint Frazier, Justus Sheffield, Ben Heller, and J.P. Feyereisen) on their way to playing in the World Series. That was the same July that the Brewers and Indians came to terms on a Jonathan Lucroy deal that was ultimately nixed by Lucroy. I wouldn’t completely count out the Twins as a team that may make some big trade headlines at some point. They have the prospect inventory to do it, and if Falvey and company believe they have a legitimate chance to play for the World Series than they may be incentivized to make a big splash. Regarding the Dodgers (mentioned earlier), one player I would love to pry from them is Wisconsin native SS Gavin Lux. He seems on the path to becoming a star and is likely only a year away from making his major league debut. Funny timing with your post, and my post in the sell thread. But I must say, IF we trade Hader I hope it’s to an American League team, but the best deal should take precedence.
  2. Prospect lists is a horrible way of evaluating value. After the top 50 you basically have the same player with the same warts it is basically just a guessing game after 50. You could even argue that anyone beyond the top 25 are basically the same player. Players beyond the top 50 are players who scouts like because of athleticism or some other non arbitrary reason. Anyone can see who the athletes are. Brinson was supposed to be this super prospect 2 years ago. Who's making a bigger impact in the majors right now? Garrett Cooper who had a hard time cracking the Brewer top 25 but could always hit a baseball. Never underestimate guys that hit at every level. Exactly. Stearns has made mistakes, Cooper, drafting Ray, but I think he recognizes the hit tool is by far the most important tool, that’s why Yelich and Cain are brewers, Hiura and Turang drafted.
  3. I've seen every inning of every game this year and never once have I said to myself that Hiura was swinging for the fence. Thames will do it occasionally if the pitch he's looking for is there otherwise both of those guys have hard, controlled swings. Not to mention, Thames K's a lot to begin with and Hiura is like he was starting AAA with a high K rate as he's still adjusting. Just because they K with runners in scoring position doesn't mean they're swinging for the fence. Also, "putting the ball in play" is little league mentality. An infield pop up, routine grounder at a corner IF (or anywhere if they're playing in across the board), shallow fly ball, etc don't drive in runs. This notion that all someone has to do is "put the ball in play" and runs are automatically scored is a fallacy. We need a couple hitters CAPABLE to go the other way. Right now we have two, Yelich and Cain, and Cain might be a shell the rest of this year because of his thumb. This lineup is laden with power hitters, and 90% of those types of hitters aren’t bat to ball capable. Yelich is, that’s why he’s a superstar. We have another in Hiura, but he’s probably 300-600 PAs away from that. Grisham would possibly be one, that’s why I’d like to see him up in place of Cain, with Cain to the IL. I think Stearns recognizes he needs players with better hit tools, bat to ball skills, and his last 3 drafts have shown me he believes that, Hiura Turang, others etc.
  4. After proving his health, just before the deadline, I Trade Hader to the Twins: Hader > Trevor Larnach Jordan Balazovic Jhoan Duran Luis Arraez Ben Rortvedt I believe the twins have the depth of prospects to absorb this loss, and the desire to make this deal, with the tribe coming on. But if not there’s other teams: Padres Dodgers Astros Rays Braves are 5 more at the top of my head that could look at hader as THE difference maker not just this year but over the next 4-5. Probably get just as much if we sell next year, but I’m not taking the chance on regression or injury. And with these 5 prospects, I can keep some or trade some to better my team. I can stash these, and trade prospects already in my system for rentals to still compete THIS year. Then I have 5-7 top 100 type prospects to develop or trade this offseason or next trade deadline to improve my team.
  5. Your probably right there. But that’s not why I’m trading him, I’m gonna get value back for a middling starter that starts to get expensive next year. I was wrong in wanting to trade Davies at this year’s deadline, I was looking for an excuse to trade him, because I don’t like him, but we need him in the rotation the rest of this year.
  6. This franchise has seen one World Series in it's history. One, and there have been plenty of extended periods of comically futile ineptitide. This franchise is the definition of hell as far as sports franchises go. I would gladly lose 100 games fora few years if it meant a world series win. So lose 100 games for how many years? Have a payroll of what during those years? 70-80 million? Banking what 70-80 million a year during the rebuild, then Attanasio decides to buy the AA team, then the AAA team, buy another state of the art scoreboard for 40 million. Then when we get good again, the reds have a larger payroll than we do, And with 3-4 years time past and ownership of said minor league teams, Attanasio’s teams value skyrockets yet again, to 1.5 billion making Mark A a billionaire. Yay.
  7. Who else does he have?? I'm tough on Counsell too but the dude is out of buttons to press. I got hammered for saying they need more bullpen arms because Hader is at risk. Now of course his back is acting up which is a problem when he's all you have. It's a mess but Counsell isn't the blame. When your starter is rolling > DONT take him out after the 4th inning, with a slumping bullpen.
  8. The pitching had a nice little run for about a week but it's rounding back into form. The bats can get going but until they decide pitching is important, this team is going nowhere including "in it". It’s been obvious they need a reliever or two and MAYBE a starter, depending on Gio and or Houser and or Chacín the next 24 days, but to continue to put the head in the sand on this offense is ...........
  9. Other then maybe JJ( not throwing great either) not sure who the good options are that are available and rested. Burnes used.....Peralta used yesterday.....our soft tossing lefty used In a tie game in the 7th we really don't have any good options......nobody who was available has been pitching well.....and Hader isn't a guy who would be used to start the 7th in a tie game especially with a bad back. Exactly why Anderson NEEDED to stay in this game as long as possible. This is ridiculous to make excuses for Counsell, this game is on him. Period.
  10. EVERYONE but Counsell knows Guerra’s command gone, and has been for weeks, but pitches him exactly as before. Never thought I’d say this > new manager needed > fire Counsell > hire DJ.
  11. Saw this inning with Guerra when Counsell pinch hit for Anderson from 10 miles away. This makes 2, 3 maybe 4 losses I would attribute to Counsell just in the last 6 weeks
  12. Maybe Aguilar can single-handedly win this game for us.
  13. He's got that era down to about 8.00 so that's a start I guess. Don’t live in the past, the present and future is all that matters.
  14. Burnes will be a weapon for this team in the second half, the only question I have is will it be out of the pen or the rotation?
  15. What does that have to do with whether or not Anderson should face a lineup a third time through? What non-anecdotal evidence do you have that Claudio wasn't the better choice there? Anderson may well have been the better choice. I have no idea, but neither do you so perhaps your comment was the big, fat stupid mistake? You were right when you said Anderson May well have been the better choice. The possible mountain of evidence telling CC to Take Anderson out after 66 pitches and four innings, should be set afire, when the pitcher is pitching over the last 3 innings as well as he has pitched all year. This is not last year’s bullpen. Jeffress Guerra haven’t been pitching well lately, and there’s no hader, and we have 4-5 innings to cover. MISTAKE!!!! Unless Anderson is hurt obviously.
  16. So let’s bring in Claudio to give up another run, and quickly at that.
  17. Maybe Anderson is hurt. Maybe he's just tightening up. Maybe he's got a blister. Maybe he just wanted the PH'er last inning to try to generate some offense, and he knows the entire bullpen is available today going into the break. Lots of reasons that he could have pulled him without it being a "fireable offense".... Or maybe, his no 3rd time thru the order no matter that the pitcher is mowing em down like dominoes mantra is a big fat stupid mistake from a manager that has been making a lot of them lately, admitted or otherwise?
  18. Anderson was dominating the 2 prior innings, what?
  19. Take out a pitcher on a roll after 4 innings, to me is a firable offense. Maybe we fire Counsell and replace him with DJ.
  20. Pirates showing the crew what their missing, hitters thinking as a team, not as a selfish individual, sacrifice the power to go the other way, move the runner over, think only of, how do I get this run in? That half inning was a clinic to the brewers from Stearns on down.
  21. Perfect inning to hammer home this teams lack off ability to score with out the big fly. Sickening, to see this over and over and over again.
  22. Ha. Figures. Unless he hasn’t arrived yet. CC needs this break. Gotta be honest, he’s become more pedestrian as a manager, this last month or two, at least in my mind. Stearns can use a reset too. This Organizational depth above all else mantra is costing this team wins, imo. It’s been pitching more than hitting, with the shuttle, but now, it’s become hitters too. The 40 man can use a shake-up, imo.
