  1. Love CC’s comments regarding Houser Peralta and Chacín. Glad he’s gonna give Houser a real opportunity to start and not back to the pen because he had a poor start. And singling out Chacín to pitch better and saying Peralta back in the mix to start, tells me unless Chacín pitches well tonight, it’s to the pen for him, with Peralta taking his spot in the rotation. Peralta has taken a step forward with his command, and in my imo, should replace Chacín in the rotation. Now if only they would stretch Burnes and let him pitch down below, and if he can improve his FB command, give him another opportunity to start. Even without another opportunity for Burnes to start again, to me, I have real optimism that the rotation will improve substantially moving forward.
  2. I don’t think Arcia deserves to be sent down. Proven defense, still 24, bat has been okay... most season siting around .700 OPS. Has his highest BB% of career (8%) only Ks 20% I personally think it’s a really dumb idea to just send down guys playing solid baseball to see what a prospect (who is same age) can do. Maybe if you are the O’s & desperate to find any hope at all but not on a contending team. This isn’t The Show 19’ franchise mode. It’s reality. Love to see Dubon get a look and some ABs but not by sending down Arcia or Hiura to do so. Let him have Perez’s utility role. Not as many at bats but gets feet wet. Your probably right, but it sure would be nice to see if he can help us score more runs.
  3. While we’re at it, more moves: 1.) Option Claudio > roster Perdomo and bring him up. 2.) DFA/Trade Pina > call-up Freitas 3.) option Arcia > bring up Dubon Claudio is terrible, Perdomo has upside. If Perdomo doesn’t work it’s ok, Stearns can acquire a stud pen arm. I know it’s the back-up catcher, but, if Freitas can actually hit, it free’s Grandal to play 1B vs LHP, and makes us that much stronger vs lefty’s. Maybe Dubon is a .300 hitter and can play steady if unspectacular D.
  4. Option Arcia to AAA, audition Dubon. Maybe he’s a near .300 hitter in the big leagues, with steady if unspectacular D.
  5. Cain, When right, should leadoff. Aguilar is swinging it better, hopefully the power is next.
  6. Vs RHP: Grandal C Yelich RF Cain CF Moose 3B Braun LF Hiura 2B Thames 1B Woodruff P Arcia SS Vs LHP Grandal C Yelich CF Hiura 2B Braun LF Moose 3B Saladino/Aguilar 1B Arcia SS Woodruff P Cain CF This lineup will beat the Cubbies!
  7. Exactly. Performance over Chemistry.
  8. Yes, he’s in my top 3: 1.) Hiura 2.) Rasmussen 3.) Grisham 4.) Turang 5.) Dubon
  9. Love this!!!!! Perez not hitting lefty’s at all this year the final straw. Saladino’s a great defender and should hit lefty’s better than Perez. Gutsy move with chemistry and all. Sends a message for sure. Arcia Aguilar.........
  10. OTB, if you would re-read my post, I never said Ray and Broxton were similar or comparable players. What I said was they both have a poor hit tool. That unfortunately is what they have in common. Massive Ks between em. I watched a lot of Ray in spring training, when he was hitting well, before he cooled off.
  11. Can’t say they didn’t give Shaw enough time to straighten himself out. Saladino to replace Cain on the 25 man? Cain to IR?
  12. Exactly. Great explanation. Shaw and Aguilar they control for the next 3-4 years, so I’m sure that plays a part in all this too. Patience of Job-big picture = Stearns
  13. I’m confident that Houser will pitch well moving forward. Davies I have hope. Chacín........
  14. As badly as I want to win this year, I’ll take the former, and give them Hader and Grandal. Can’t turn down the best prospect in baseball, plus 3 top pitchers even if one is hurt again and won’t pitch till sometime next year. Then I might trade Baz Ashby Ray + for Trevor Bauer. And Trade Dubon + for Will Smith And Trade for another quality rental reliever Then win this year anyhow, keeping Franco Liberatore Honeywell.
  15. There will be better catchers out there than a 33-year-old Manny piña.
  16. Quite simply because he's proven to be an average MLB starter and the other two haven't done anything above AAA. Don't put so much stock in a small amount of ABs on sporadic playing time and don't forget that Pina is really good at D. Plus, the word depth itself should speak for itself. But if needed to lay it out, say you let Pina go and bring up Freitas and Grandal gets hurt. Now, you're playing two guys in MLB in a playoff chase with no experience and have nothing behind if another injury were to happen. The basic premise is to simply hold onto as many guys as you can as long as you can. Until it hurts the team. Pina is hurting the team with his play. It would be different if he was his all world defensive self, but he’s not, at least imo. Again, we already have Nottingham, and others, for depth, I mean come on. A good defensive catcher, hitting .360+ just waiting patiently down below to help this team. And what if he continues to hit big league pitching anything close to how he’s been hitting AAA pitching?
  17. 100% agree. Rental will help keep the prospects reasonable, this is it, also, change of scenery and away from the chaos that is the Mets could do wonders for him too.
  18. Why is it good to have Pina if there’s injury? He’s having a terrible year, ~.150 and his defense, imo, has regressed, even if only slightly. No way Stearns tenders him next year anyhow, so cut him loose. Call up Freitas, nothing left to prove in AAA anyhow, he WILL hit better than Pina. .360+ come on! Nottingham is organizational depth. McDowell is organizational depth. Can always go outside the organization and find depth. I love that Stearn’s has the patience to outlast any of ours, which 80% of the time is a good thing, but he who hesitates, loses, also.
  19. With the news on Gio suffering a set-back, and the state of the rotation being poor to put it mildly, I think it’s time to stretch Burnes and Peralta in AAA, then put em in the rotation and just let em pitch. Use an opener for Peralta, if he continues his first inning issues. Keep Houser in the rotation and let him pitch. Chacín and Anderson to the pen. If we’re going to have a volatile rotation, it might as well be with the future in mind, and who knows, maybe one or two of em will surprise us by pitching well.
  20. This team is just taking longer to round into shape, as George Scott used to say, the cream will rise to the top. I believe Cain Aguilar Shaw by the deadline will be closer to 2018 form than the first half abomination. And if not, Stearns will add a bat by trade and or call-up besides Hiura. The pitching MOVING FORWARD will improve substantially with Houser and Gio stabilizing the starting staff. And the bullpen, i believe, will be shutdown by August, either thru improvements by Nelson, Burnes and or deadline acquisitions. Remember > we have the best hitter in the world on our team, and the most dominant arm. This team WILL GET BETTER.
  21. Ok, Guerra’s a better pitcher this year, because of the curve, is what I should have said. Woodruff has added velo, imo, thru better mechanics. He has room to improve and will.
  22. Both the players and management like the job Hook is doing, and that’s good enough for me. According to sources, McCalvy earlier in the year, said Hooks strength is mechanics and DJ pitch sequencing. Woodruff Houser Guerra have taken giant steps forward, in Guerra’s case he developed a plus curve since last year, with Hooks help. Just trying to be fair here.
  23. Brilliant draft. 6-7 LHP’s > weakness to strength. Lots of upside with some and pitchability with others. 2-3 more good hitting catchers to add to Nottingham Freitas Feliciano Henry Fry. Good up the middle defenders with speed, athleticism and hit tools. And some will help the big club sooner rather than later with most being College pics.
