  1. More than I did before, so yes. But let’s see what happens moving forward and see if jimmy was right after all. But this is what you do, right? You make some over the top point and state it as a fact like you've come up with something novel. Then proceed to make 50 posts in 18 threads about it. Pfft to those who don't see it because you have it figured out. Then slowly but surely you back track on said point until you become an easy target for others. You are passionate and you do make some solid points at times but its hard for anyone to take you seriously when you do the above and if you continue to do the above you are going to continue to get called on it. Continue to get called out on a comment I made over 3 months ago that I admitted I was wrong the same day I said it. Ok.
  2. Nelson past the rehab stage when he said he throwing better than ever. I have no reason not to believe him. Do you have reason not to believe him now? More than I did before, so yes. But let’s see what happens moving forward and see if jimmy was right after all.
  3. I believe you were the poster who claimed (in a post in the record/playoff thread) that the teams behind the Brewers in the standings have deep farm systems and can add talent to address injuries/needs. Here you post the Astros are littered with "AAA bats". I know you've posted in the past that many at Brewerfan talk out of both sides of their mouths, yet this seams to me like talking out of both sides of your mouth. Can you clarify how the Astros AAA additions are different than other teams farm system depth? Springer, Correa, Altuve injured and not in lineup, 3 AAA players are. Not exactly the real powerhouse Astro lineup that Nelson would be facing > was my point. Your post confusing.
  4. Or they just like how he matches up with a crappy Giants batting order when compared to the hot-hitting Astros in his second game of MLB action in 18 months. I think you may be reading a bit much into the situation. Astros lineup littered with AAA bats because of injuries, so their lineup isn’t exactly scary good.
  5. More than a little curious to the brewers decision to start Peralta tonight instead of Nelson. With Jimmy not scheduled to start until Saturday, that will make 10 days between starts, not the best way to improve command imo. It’s almost like their setting him up to fail as a starter because they’ve already decided to put him in the pen at some point moving forward.
  6. I’d be for a trade of Barnes Williams, if no takers, DFA em, get Perdomo and Jackson on the potential shuttle. Jackson’s been great down below, but had a rough go of it first time around with the crew. Perdomo and Jackson cant be worse than Williams Barnes, and even if they are bad, at least it’s not the same ol same ol. With Nelson and the abundance of starter arms, don’t think the shuttle will be used quite as often moving forward. But if it does, it be nice to see arms not named Barnes Williams.
  7. While I agree with a lot of what you say here, I believe the cubs are protected from injury to their rotation with Chatwood overcoming his wildness and being a real weapon again that can slide into the rotation and also with Montgomery I think that gives their rotation some injury protection. Your take on the crew is a little off I believe. Not sure if they have as many players playing above their expected outcomes as below. Much above: Moose Davies Above: Grandal Arcia Houser Below: Chacín Claudio Pina Much below: Shaw Aguilar Cain Burnes The rest I believe are about where they should be including Yelich. I believe there’s a lot of upside left with this team, more so than than any NL team.
  8. Since I have been asked to chime in... Forget Kluber for a couple reasons: 1) He is unlikely to be back in the majors BEFORE trade deadline of 7/31. Even if Kluber's medical follow up this week determines a timetable for a comeback, he likely needs a full rehab assignment of 30 days to get stretched out. As Yogi Berra once said, its getting late early (for that 7/31 trade deadline). 2) Even IF SOMEHOW Kluber is back and pitching at a high level, ANY team trading Kluber has to decide on both option years (pick up both or decline both, not pick up one & decline the other) within a week of the WS ending in 2019.. Kluber's injury makes that decision near impossible for any acquiring team.. As for Bauer, I don't see a good match between the 2 clubs. Cleveland is not going into a full rebuild so multiple low level high end talents won't be the target. Cleveland will be targeting multiple major league ready talents that have a lot of control remaining (the same stuff the Brewers want to hold onto). Most fans here feel Hiura is off limits. I can't disagree with the feelings. That said Hiura fills a need for Cleveland as Kipnis will have his 2020 option declined. It takes 2 teams to make a deal. IF Cleveland is MOTIVATED to deal Bauer before the 7/31 deadline I believe they will make a large deal with a club willing to meet Cleveland's price, not "settling" for a secondary package. PS: I realize Brewer fans are very excited by Brice Turang (they should be), but I think Brewer fans should take a look at Tyler Freeman (Cleveland's SS prospect in the Midwest League). Both are VERY GOOD and are among the top 100 prospects in the game.. I still SMH seeing Freeman's stats from short-season in 2018 in the NY-Penn league. Thanks for the educated tribe information and perspective MadThinker88, I was afraid of you bursting my bubble, and you did.
  9. Goodness Gracious, what a coup if we can land this guy.
  10. Athletic toolsy outfielders like Ray that can’t hit are a dime a dozen. Overrated would be putting it mildly. His bat compares favorably with Keon Broxton. Both have holes IN their bats that keep them from making contact. At least Keon has an all world glove and arm, While Ray does not.
  11. Blows past Ray and Lutz to easily be our #1 outfield prospect. Hoping he’s promoted soon to AAA, to see if he can maintain his dominance up a level.
  12. Rasmussen came on in relief... Not a good outing in relief, but I think it interesting that he did pitch a couple innings out of the pen.
  13. Kluber with the extra year of control and the better pedigree would think he’d be more expensive but he’s past prime and imo, freak injury notwithstanding, is more of an injury risk and or regression risk so I don’t know. If given the choice, I think I go with the still within his prime Bauer. I think Burnes/peralta I’d want to keep if I could, but I don’t know if Cleveland wants to retool they might want major league ready players, they might demand Burnes/Peralta.
  14. IF the Indians are sellers: Bauer > Ray & Supek/Ashby & Turang JosephC and or Madthinker88 really want your opinions on this proposal- too much too little?
  15. Really interesting take. Only I’d add Guerra at the 90% Hoping that by playoff time Burnes Peralta Houser Nelson Anderson are also no doubters.
  16. The Nats have the worst manager in baseball, no team depth, terrible team defense and bad team chemistry, to go along with the worst pen in the NL.Going on 220+ games of underperforming their perceived talent level. Granted, they have 3 of the best starters, and great hitting talent, so they can probably win more than they lose when they get healthier, but imo that’s best case, and I believe they are gonna be sellers at the deadline, at least enough for Rizzo to retool.
  17. Mets, Nats, Pirates, Cards, Rockies, Dbacks, Padres. All those teams are a good week of baseball from being very close to us in the standings. I can understand feeling like you have a 4-5 game lead on most of those teams, but that's a lot of teams that are very reasonably close to us...and most of them have much better minor league talent than us and can easily add if they can go on a bit of a run up to the deadline. This isn't like the AL whereas the 5 playoff teams have pretty much been known since the first month of the season. Agree that most of the aforementioned teams have better minor league talent, and could improve at the deadline if they chose too, the problem is their major league teams are far weaker than us or the teams they are chasing. The Mets and Nats are far inferior to the Braves and Phillies. The pirates pitching injuries and lack of depth give them no chance, the cards could contend for the wild card especially if they buy at the deadline. While in the west, the Dbacks are playing over their talent slightly, and have no chance, while the Rockies if they can somehow play better on the road will become a serious wild card threat. So in reality, only 2 of those teams have a realistic chance at the playoffs and at best they would be a wild card team, and I’d put the odds of the cards at less than 50% and the Rockies at less than 40%. The Brewers, if they win the central, will have done so with the toughest schedule of all, with the Twins being their “rivalry” team, to go with arguably the toughest interleague teams top to bottom, as well as their division being the best top to bottom.
  18. Goodness gracious no. Avila would want Rasmussen Turang Ashby and Burnes.
  19. Agree with all of your points. I believe this will be Stearns greatest achievement as architect this deadline. A game changing bat, high leverage pen arm, and potential stud starter, all could be acquired. I also think Nelson to the pen has potential, but regardless, I believe Jimmy will get better and improve to be a major weapon for this team moving forward.
  20. And spending 10-15 mil at the deadline is much different than committing that this year plus another 15 mil per year for two more years for a relief pitcher. Long story short, it's just hard to sit here and call the management cheap when they did shell out significant money at least years deadline for Soria, Granderson, Schoop. Then, this year they dropped 30 mil more on Grandal/Moose. The Cain contract. Then when the young starters generally failed to start the year, they spend what 3ish mil on Gio (don't recall exact number). As a small market team, they're being smart and strategic here trying to find values and short term commitments rather than being on the hook for a few years. Nailed both on Grandal/Moose yet folks are still ripping them. And yes I'm sure they see the Pen issues right now and moves will be made to help that out by the deadline. Dallas would probably be the more fitting one to complain about since he signed for only 1 year. But looking at how the late signees faired last year one has to be a bit worried about that as well. And again 13 mil there or maybe finding two bullpen guys for half the cost, certainly reasonable to sure up the pen instead. all this himming and hawing over how much money they have is just a waste of time. We just don't know and never will. If you're going to be a fan of the smallest market team just get used to it, they're not going to outspend and throw money around very often on large multi year salary commitments very often. But when they normally operate in the 90-100 mil area when they're trying to win but this year are pushing into the 120-130 area I think it's fair to say they've done their part and are trying. Brewers ownership group is NOT cheap, I’ve never said they were. And I realize that by upping their payroll to 150+ mil. Would potentially set a dangerous precedent. All I want is a team, that’s smack dab in a window of championship contention, to spend, to improve our chances of competing, vs the 200+ million dollar teams. If Stearns decided no on Kimbrel, that’s different than Mark A saying no. I think anyone that is a brewer fan for any length of time knows the small market spending limits we’ve had for decades and don’t need to be told to get used to it. But when thru over performance by the best fans in mlb(fact) or the tremendous money paid to all teams(National tv deals,Bam,misc.) the crew has revenue’d past the small market to mid-market, I believe we can expect to spend to reflect the aforementioned.
  21. True. The Phillies edge out the Cardinals and Rockies for the second wild card. With the crew edging out the Cubbies for the central.
  22. The times I’ve heard Bauer talk he was thoughtful, humble, and interesting. He’s a horse, regularly throws 100+ pitches, has ridiculous stuff, playoff experience, exactly what this team needs to win a championship.
  23. Why in the world would the Brewers make the unfathomably idiotic move of trading Davies? He's been their best pitcher, and is cost controlled for several more seasons. You don't ever give up solid cost-controlled pitching. EVER. I don't care you you think you have in your rotation has the potential to be better. Davies has been dang near the best starter in baseball this year. For a guy who keeps on harping that the Brewers need to bring up Wilkerson despite his below-average "stuff", it makes no sense to me that you want to deal off a guy with a very similar arsenal of pitches, but is actually doing it at the highest level. We trade him for 2 reasons: 1.) his value will never be higher and the prospects we could get for him helps this team more than keeping him. 2.) with Bauer Nelson Anderson Peralta Burnes Houser Wilkerson (potential FA signing) Rasmussen > that’s 9 deep, good coverage.
  24. Rotation??? 1.) Woodruff 2.) Davies These 2 in^^ 3.) ? 4.) ? 5.) ? Who’s the other 3? Nelson Chacín Gio Anderson Peralta Houser Wilkerson Then who to the pen? And who to AAA?
