  1. I think, like miles mikolas, he learned how to really pitch in Japan. With the cubs he threw upper 90s, so maybe a little more in the tank.
  2. The crew’s braintrust apparently thinks at least right now, he should be working on getting big league hitters out, and not in AAA pitching to overmatched hitters. Yes, this is apparently correct. I can't imagine the leash is going to be very long, though. They are finally to the point where they have some stability in the rotation. It would be nice to see that continue. I really want Peralta to succeed, and the best chance of that happening is to make sure opposing hitters aren't sitting on his fastball. I guess you go to a 6-man rotation, as there is no easy answer on who to remove to insert Freddy. Chacin has been scuffling, but removing a guy coming off a career year and one known for starting a little slow doesn't seem like the best answer. Woodruff has been pitching much better of late, Anderson has been solid, Gio is Gio, and Davies has been terrific. It's a good problem to have, and I'm happy I'm not the one who has to make the decision. Yes, your right it’s a good problem to have! All I know is this pitching staff the second half of the year has a real chance to be dominant.

  4. Agree with most of your take. I WOULD put Chacín in the pen, and peralta back in the rotation. Chacín In 2 or 3 inning stints especially against right handed dominant line-ups could be a real weapon. I’d also get burnes back in the rotation after 1 more start in AAA, and put Anderson back in the pen. Give burnes and peralta another opportunity starting, at least until Nelson is ready, then re-evaluate.
  5. I don't understand the Hart callup. He is a LOOGY at best. He was putrid last year for the Os (31 hits and 12 runs in only 19 IPs). RH hitters hit an unbelievable .390/.457 against him. He stunk in his first callup with Milwaukee (2 hits and 4 walks in 2 IPs), and has been awful at San Antonio (8 hits in only 3.2 IPs, 7.36 ERA, 2.73 WHIP). Claudio has been getting hit hard lately, so maybe Hart is CC's only recourse for another lefty. At least Jackson is getting a shot. He's been doing well at San Antonio and is an improvement over Wilson. Let's hope he can bring some stability to the pen. If you declared Hart terrible and a waste after 2 previous innings, are you ready to give him a Cy Young after tonight? Hart’s terrible, just look his stats prior to today’s game. A month or two or three from now perdomo and his fantastic, unhittable stuff will hopefully be dominating big league hitters.
  6. Maybe, just maybe, Jackson can be that late inning high leverage arm we so desperately need. That and a quality multi-inning arm or two or three joining the pen over the next month with peralta, Burnes and Nelson coming back. Could go from terrible to dominant pen in a months time.
  7. Umm...... yeah, he now has more HRs than last April. Good call !!
  8. They can have Santana’s power and negative war inducing defense, glad we have the hit the ball were it’s pitched, professional hitting, always hustling Ben Gamel.
  9. Jackson forced his way up with the way he’s pitched. Love this move. Another lefty needed to combat Rockies left handed hitters. It’s just, perdomo should be on the team now in place of hart. Command improving, mid to upper 90s, very hard to hit, tremendous upside, and can get righty’s out too.
  10. Do you have some inside information on what it would cost to get Kimbrel that the rest of don't have? If he is a bargain now, don't you think he'd be signed? Seriously, get out of here with this nonsesne. 3 @ 45 is a bargain, compare to: 3 @ 51 wade davis or: 5 @ 87 Aroldis Chapman All teams except brewers and braves up against luxury tax threshold AND would lose 1 st round or their highest pick. The crew only a FOURTH round pick. Braves should have signed kimbrel already but have ultimate greedy owners and won’t spend.
  11. The bullpen is undeniably pathetic, but to be fair they expected to have a healthy Knebel, a healthy and reasonably effective Jeffress, and a healthy Wahl, who I think they saw as possibly their 4th best option. When you have to slot everyone up 2 or 3 spaces in the pecking order there are likely to be problems. Even then, the Brewers still have not blown many (any?) late inning leads. The starting pitching is every bit as much of a problem as the bullpen and the hitting has not been close to the elite level we had reason to expect. Taking Anderson out of pen has turned it to pathetic stage. When knebel and Wahl lost for the year, jeffress at 84 mph, Burnes and woodruff taken OUT of the pen, that’s 4 high leverage arms gone. Stearns at the time talked about others in pen having to step up. Whatever. All that happened, he went cheap > fields Wilson. Instead of trade for a quality high leverage arm AND signing kimbrel when his price went down to the bargain that he is now. Instead we get Detroit and LA rejects to pitch to a 18 mil catcher signed for this year. As far as the rotation, it’s fantastic now, at least in comparison to our dreadful pen. The lineup for some reason outside of Aguilar isn’t as much of a concern, at least not to me.
  12. Sit Braun and play Taylor after calling him up. Braun can pinch hit. Call up Hiura and play him at second. Moose to third. Sit Shaw. He can pinch hit. Do this for the entire homestand. No Aguilar No Shaw No Braun
  13. This team in trouble with no Yelich, Braun bad, Shaw horrible, Aguilar worse than horrible and the worst bullpen I can remember. Stearns should call up Taylor and Hiura. Also drop hart off 40 man and add Jackson, then call up Jackson to crew and send down a pitcher, whoever and go with a 12 man staff. 1 less bad pitcher off of the 7 man pen. This is pathetic. Stearns AND Attanasio are to blame for this dreadful bullpen.
  14. Not including today’s game, all the runs he’s givin up on the year we’re in high leverage situations, while he’s perfect, zero runs givin up in mop up roles.
  15. Painful watching Braun play baseball right now. Aguilar there are no words.
  16. 41 pitches 28 strikes 3 ip 3 h 1 r 0 bb 3
  17. I agree with your assessment. We don’t have enough quality arms in the pen YET to replace Barnes. I’m hoping/expecting that to happen at the very latest at the trade deadline. Until such time, mop up it is.
  18. You did a much better job of explaining what really happened than I did.
