So if you like Jacob Barnes in this pen just say it then. And we can just disagree.

Yeah, that may be projection...or at BEST if it was in an actual "report," which are sadly now just tweets, it was likely someone else just guessing, "hey, if Jeffress fails, they'll really try and sign Kimbrel." There's almost no chance that Stearns has actually come out and stated this. Stearns never comments on specifics, but doesn’t common sense dictate “hey, if jeffress fails, they’ll really try and sign kimbrel.” Jeffress is not ok. We can rationalize Guerra closing, but we need another high leverage arm, imo.

That’s 2-3 months away. Can we really go that long with zero high lev. Arms besides Hader? Guerra's been fine. I think he'll be getting a lot more high leverage innings. Cubs and Cardinals haven't played each other yet, and should beat each other up enough to keep the division within reach. More offense up and down the lineup would help as would starters capable of going 6 innings. 3 good pitchers( Hader Guerra Claudio ) out of 8 not gonna cut it, imo.

Body language, facial expressions, his interview just after he found out he was traded. I know what I saw and what I heard. Imo Stearns saw the same thing, which could be part of the reason he took the unusual step of publicly bashing his own trade for him.

You really think that's what the problem was? Yes!!!!! From the second he found out he was traded. Devastating to go from one of the worst teams in baseball to the contending crew. Rather be comfortable with his friends on a losing team.

Some reports had Stearns wanting to wait on possibly signing kimbrel because he wanted to see how jeffress does. Jeffress is NOT ok. He’s now just another pitcher. Time to get the one pitcher we need to fix our biggest weakness, now. This should have been done weeks ago when he lowered his price to the bargain that he is.

Why the hatred of hart? Horrible loogy, potentially keeping a better pitcher( Jackson) off of the 40 man. Was potentially useful against the dodgers, with their left handed hitters, but now that we’re done with them we should be done with hart.

You might want to hold off on dumping Barnes. He's had two bat outings, but put up zero's in his other 10 or so appearances. Given who's still in the pen, I don't think we need to be in a hurry to boot him. Barnes has been in 11 games and given up runs in two of those games (3 runs in 1 IP and 5 runs in 1/3 IP). In the other 9 appearances he has given up 5 total hits in 9 2/3 IPs and no runs, with 12 Ks and 3 BBs. Wilson has been awful and I wonder why he is still on the team. Albers has pitched 11 innings allowing 11 hits and 6 runs including 3 HRs. Jeffress is just a shadow of his old self, Claudio is a LOOGY only, Wilkerson has pitched 5.2 innings allowing 11 hits and a 2.12 WHIP. Petricka finally DFA'd, Williams in the minors because of performance, and Hart is a terrible LOOGY. Guerra continues to shine out of the pen, and Hader. Right now Barnes is one of CC's best options out of a severely under performing pen. Statistics CAN lie. This is that time. Barnes has the stuff of high leverage, and commands it well in mop up roles. BUT add a little stress and he goes ga ga. Command leaves him, and he gets wild or grooves his pitches and he gets hit hard. The rest of your analysis is correct. We have a couple guys down under that can help, but they need to be added to the 40 man, which I think at least one of them is imminent. But it’s not going to fix jeffress. Until we get a LEAST 1 more high leverage arm into the pen, we’re going to struggle to close out games when Hader is down. Stop bashing the FEW that’s calling for outside help, to solve our biggest weakness, and what would keep us from the title. The eyes never lie, when sometimes the stats do.

Barnes is terrible in ANYTHING CLOSE TO HIGH LEVERAGE. His scoreless appearances have been in mop up low lev. Appearances, the 2 times CC has HAD to pitch him in high lev. he failed. This the perfect example of statistics lying.

How come you didn't post this one last night/morning? We won both games, BTW. This game, win or lose notwithstanding, should tell us something has to change with this pen moving forward. Wilson throwing batting practice during game conditions, jeffress no velo, no command, JUST A PITCHER NOW. At the present time this bullpen stinks. And to consider putting woody or Burnes to pen to save money, at there developmental expense makes me angry and sad.

It’s obvious to some, the REAL problems not the rotation, but the pen, and this game SCREAMS that fact. When we only have one high lev. arm in the ENTIRE pen, whatever. It’s only 9-15 mil. There, problem solved. On to the playoffs.
