  1. http://www.trbimg.com/img-57b87ebe/turbine/sdut-milwaukee-brewers-pitcher-will-20160820/750/750x422 I'll go with the clinching a playoff spot number for now, we can switch it to the division number WHEN we catch the Cubs for 1st place
  2. Pirates barely hang on to win against the Cardinals 4-3
  3. I know he hasn't been lighting the world on fire and he looked pretty awful last night, but going into yesterday Aguilar had an 11 game on base streak and a .275/.333/.500/.833 hitting line with a couple homers in 40 atbats since August 28. People are acting like he's amidst a 2 for 50 stretch or something. For comparison, Braun in the same time period hit .229/.357/.371/.729 with one homerun.
  4. Just in case no one's noticed... Schoop since August 21st: 16 G, 41 AB, 4 HR, 15 RBI, .293/.348/.610/.958 batting line
  5. I agree in general that this team really doesn't have any "bad" lineups at this point, however, I'd wait until a Sunday with a righty starter to sit Cain: Cain 2018 Splits vs. LHP: .375/.460/.558 vs. RHP: .282/.377/.385 Cain 2015-17 Splits vs. LHP: .324/.383/.545 vs. RHP: .290/.346/.410 Give guys their rest, but make sure it's on days advantageous to their splits. But again, any lineup versus pretty much any pitcher doesn't deserve the unreal backlash the whole Yelich debacle got this week.
  6. Ozuna ties the Cardinal game with a 2-out, 2-run homer in the top of the 9th...
  7. Aha! Had Yelich started, there's NO WAY CC would have pinch hit Granderson for him
  8. Oh man, the overreacting is reaching an all time high here, lol. We may still make the playoffs even if we lose some games before the season's done.
  9. This is based on 2 at bats tonight and not the past week where he's hit in 5 of 6 games with a double and two homeruns for a .250/.333/600/.933 slash line I take it?
  10. Wouldn’t be surprising, two good pitchers going. Just need to get that 1 Uh oh.
  11. According to those numbers he's been significantly better than Moose against lefties, both all year (+.135 OPS) and recently (+.458), and in larger sample sizes than the numbers against just Quintana, where he still holds up as one of our top 4 options. So going off those numbers, why wouldn't you bat Perez somewhere in the top 4 spots? The two spot seems alright to me. We definitely lack players that have had much success against Q, and to a slightly lesser extent against lefties in general, but that's what we have to work with and this is a good spot to get one of the few players we have that has been good against lefties a start.
  12. Brewers vs. Quintana Top 4 players with at least 9 ABs are in the lineup: Moustakas (.899 OPS, 43 ABs) Cain (.790, 73 ABs) Braun (.698, 24 ABs) Perez (.619, 21 ABs) Brewers vs. LHP 2018 6 of top 7 players are in the lineup: Cain (1.061 OPS, 132 ABs) Yelich (.939, 159 ABs) Aguilar (.892, 125 ABs) Perez (.834, 108 ABs) Braun (.798, 123 ABs) Moustakas (.699, 165 ABs) Schoop (.659, 136 ABs) Brewers vs. LHP since July 1st 5 of top 6 players are in the lineup: Yelich (1.136 OPS, 80 PAs) Perez (1.131, 57 PAs) Cain (.965, 71 PAs) Braun (.780, 60 PAs) Arcia (.770, 27 PAs) Aguilar (.714, 71 PAs) Perez is top 4 in all three categories and smoking against LHP lately. Not having Yelich in there is a little disappointing, but not surprised at all to see Perez getting a start tonight. Edit: And seeing now that Yelich has something nagging him, I have no qualms with the lineup. GO CREW!

  14. Maybe because 8th place hitters also get out 2/3rds of the time and then you've got a pitcher to start the next inning. Not saying that's a good enough reason, but it makes some sense. Wonder what the situational scoring probably stats say about it.
  15. Well Jennings had only given up one homerun against lefties in 98 at bats going into that one...
  16. Ha, they mentioned on the broadcast that was Schoop's first career homerun as a pinch hitter. Just looked it up, it's his first career HIT as a pinch hitter (albeit in 10 PAs).
  17. Someone who gets it. The loss column is all that matters. If the Cubs lose up to 4 more games than the Brewers lose the rest of the season they win. So scoreboard watching is pretty important. Not that we can do anything about it. If there were fewer games remaining and the Brewers didn't play the Cubs 6 more times, I can see your point, but we do control our own destiny since if we win out, the Cubs have to lose 6 times and we'd jump ahead of them. Of course, the Cubs also control their own destiny, which shows it's too early to be talking about controlling destinies and fretting over the "loss column being all that matters."
  18. Wow, so basically you are cheering for an injury on an opponent? He's evaluating the Brewers' chances of catching the Cubs. Acknowledging a team is more at risk for an injury and rooting for one is a big difference.
  19. Request: Can people that are guessing the lineup please label their post as such? Thx! Glad to see Yelich isn't sitting tonight
  20. His numbers are also being deflated by a 1 for 9 start after being called back up. Take those first two games out and even without last night's game, he had a .724 OPS over 25 plate appearances during a 9 game stretch. So horrible start, followed by a stretch of acceptable production, followed by a big game. Looks like improvement to me, albeit we're breaking down a really small sample size here still.
