  1. I almost posted this in the off-topic, since it's pretty inconsequential (perhaps), but when I made my yearly pilgrimage to eBay to get a Brewers schedule magnet, I noticed that CC was on it representing the 2000s: http://i41.tinypic.com/2ytwqh0.jpg It struck me as odd--even if it was meant to represent specific "big moments" (Aaron's last home run, Coop's ALCS Game 5 RBI, Yount's 3000th), and it apparently wasn't, based on the photos, I couldn't quite place what CC's "moment" was supposed to be. If it was meant to be "Brewers' Greats," I wish they'd gone with Prince or Braun (who hasn't been on one yet, although there's time), someone who is part of the Brewers' present and future (and, whom I'd argue, were just as key to the Brew Crew's '08 playoff return as CC). When I think of the Brewers teams of the Oughts, it'll likely be Prince I think of--he was there before, during, and after CC, and hopefully for a long time to come. I mean, I understand and appreciate what CC did in his time here. Like people said in the LaPorta thread, it was magical in a lot of ways. But I think I'll always think of that brief period with Sabathia as like "The Legend of CC" or whatever (like he was Shane...rode in, saved our bacon, and rode out), not an actual "Brewer great." (I guess it could be argued that it's a little ridiculous that Hank Aaron is on there, too, but at least he was a Brewer for more than 4 months and played in Milwaukee for a dozen years before that.) Which of course raises the question of, what makes a "Brewer Great"? Is there really a time frame? Probably not. And you could (and probably would) argue that CC in 4 months had more of an impact than, say, Jenkins did in several years as The Man here. So maybe he is a "Brewer Great." (Which makes me wonder if Houston fans think of Carlos Beltran as an "Astros Great," but whatever). It still strikes me as odd and even just a little bit embarrassing that the Brewers put a guy who is currently actively playing for another team, who in fact turned down a strong offer from the Brewers to play for that team, on their schedule magnet this year. Anyway.
  2. It was a treat finally having MLB Network and being able to watch this game on the FSN Wisconsin feed in actual HD as an out-of-market fan.
  3. Yeah, Joe Buck said something similar about "good baseball people" on Rome this morning. Sure seems like no one actually listened to what Mark A actually said.
  4. Nice little (big) comeback win. Kudos to Gerut, Kottaras, and the bullpen. Great series win against a tough team--I'll be ecstatic if they can do the same against the Cards and Cubs the next two. Gameday says it's 42 degrees and rainy with 14mph winds at Miller Park. A good day to stay under the dome at Friday's and kill a few more Spotted Cows until they kick you out (provided you have a DD, of course!).
  5. Man, that throws a wet blanket on a heartening last ten minutes
  6. "Alcides Escobar driving in George Kottaras"...I always like those early season moments where two (relatively) new Brewers bang one out.
  7. Alright--good start to the year for Mitch. I thought twice that inning was going to get much bloodier.
  8. Man, for a second I thought Macha was gonna leave Wolf in there Hopefully he gets the aWoooooooooo
  9. As little as I like seeing Brewers' meetings at the pitcher's mound, the site of Peterson's and Zaun's mullets coming together will keep me amused this season
  10. Brutal couple days for Zaun. Really hope that missed opportunity doesn't come back to bite us.
  11. I gotta say, I'm not a huge fan of theirs, but I've had Metallica's "Of Wolf and Man" in my head all evening. He's looked pretty good tonight so far.
  12. Yeah, mind you, I didn't see the actual flip yesterday (not hardcore enough to watch a DVR'd loss, even on Opening Day), but that seemed a little surprising and a bit much from the Rockies' guys.
  13. http://www.animalshirts.net/wolfshirts/wolfshirt-moon.jpg AWOOOOOOO
  14. Man, I saw Braun's "In Play, Run(s)" and I honestly believed there was gonna be some 5-5 with Prince coming up and no outs OPENING DAY MAGIC
  15. Well, I bet the parking lots are filling back up. Tomorrow's another day.
  16. Well, that was anti-climactic...hopefully we can hold it down and scratch a few more out Daley looked tough on Gameday at least
  17. Three ABs isn't giving me much to be impressed or unimpressed by on the whole. Seth Smith is having a much worse day at the plate than any Brewer.
  18. Man, I wasn't really anti-Macha last year, but this was one of his worst habits last year and one I'd hoped he wouldn't continue. I mean, why?
  19. Man, that inning was my first http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_spCP3JtxOPc/SpKDgJDybwI/AAAAAAAAAg8/pX3QcLxCzPQ/s400/Augh.jpg of the year.
  20. Well, at least Alcides got a good at-bat there...that was looking like a horrible inning before that. As it stands, it was only merely bad.
  21. Man, this could be worse, but it could also be a heckuva lot better. Let's start bringing some guys home.
  22. Yeah, I didn't want it to come off like I was throwing them under the bus this early, but I suppose it did. Well, looks like we're gonna have to dig some out against Jimenez at any rate.
