  1. Normally TH's cynicism is a bit much for me, but he's dead-on there. That is ugly ugly ugly.
  2. Well, we'll be on the field for another Wild Card celebration this year. And a confirmed losing record. This season stinks.
  3. To be a friend to the friendless here, he walked him in on six pitches. He was merely terrible, not horrific.
  4. Wow. Can this season end already? (The way a relaxed Cards team pummeled the Reds today makes me think we might've seen the last Brewers' win of the season already.) This is like the Manny at the beginning of the year all over again, can't find the zone to save his life.
  5. Last weekday game of the season...I'll miss the generally-weekly distraction if not the play the Brewers usually provide. Speaking of...
  6. Hmmm. Well, it never felt like they were in it to me, and the Rockies are clearly the better team, so I shouldn't be too disappointed but I am all the same. Hate to waste the rare Kendall melodramatics. Really, really don't want to watch the Brewers walk off the field as another team celebrates a playoff spot so I hope the Braves and/or Brewers can win one the next couple days. Now I'm watching the Giants out here and they sound a little deflated since they needed the Crew to win (amongst other miracles)
  7. Watching Jason Bourgeois attempt to drive in Jason Kendall when the Brewers are down 8-1 in the 5th is not conducive to me dreading the end of the season
  8. --Finish at .500 or better. Unlikely, but who knows. --Don't let the Rockies clinch a playoff spot when they play against the Crew next week...likelier, and watching the Rockies celebrate would probably be one last jab of the rusty dull butterknife in my gut this season --As many Escobar/Gamel starts as possible, and failing that, a strong showing by Hardy down the stretch. Despite it all, I'll be sad when the season ends, and any of these would make me feel better once we head into what could be a pretty crazy off-season
  9. 1-877-KARS4KIDS is no walk in the park
  10. Haven Hamilton! Keep A' Goin', Henry.
  11. Still following these games was made worth it by being able to witness a Jody Gerut grand slam.
  12. Yeah, my primary selfish disappointments are no series in Oakland and I was hoping they'd play up in Seattle; that would have been a nice Brewers Weekend trip. I also wish the Anaheim series was on a weekend since I haven't been to any games there before and would've enjoyed checking it out. Well, this season has taught me not to make judgments about peformance based on schedule, but it looks like they could get a nice start in April again next season, and September appears to be a mixed bag. They get a nice stretch out of the All-Star break, and there don't appear to be as many gauntlets this season like this September appeared (or appears). June looks pretty tough.
  13. Lucky duck, I went 2-3 this season. I think you set the West Coast record. Do you wear glasses? They showed a guy on the WMLW feed a few times with a Cerveceros shirt. And yeah, a few times they showed some Brewers fans who looked more SoCal than Wisconsin, to be frank, which made me think there was a lot of Braun/Kendall/Hardy family there tonight. [Last year at AT&T when CC pitched I was surrounded by people who were clearly Bay Area locals in brand new Brewer gear which made me think it was Sabathia friends and family...pretty cool, they were really enthusiastic]
  14. Worth sticking through the end to see that Coffey dive for the bag Brewers win, Brewers win...
  15. Even the Brewers' fans look bored here Wish I could enjoy these awesome wins more (lovin' McGehee), but they're so meaningless (and too much good college football on)
  16. Even though I mostly despised their politics, I got a little misty-eyed by Margaret Thatcher's video eulogy to Ronald Reagan at his funeral (and I was esp. quite moved by how Gorbachev came).
  17. I could definitely hear a lot of Brewers' cheers on the D'back's feed Cracks aside, I did enjoy watching Braun's jack and seeing the Brewers snake their way (no pun intended) out of that bases loaded situation, but man oh man, this one was awfully slow
  18. I was behind the Brewers dugout in San Diego the night he hit the first one, and I drunkenly yelled "First of 500!" at him as he clambered back into the dugout after hitting it. Hope I'm right (and beyond)!
  19. Actually, I did see a few outside predictions here right around that number...most were in the 80-86 range. That said, I agree with your second sentence here as well, although I may not agree with the firings themselves.
  20. Daron Sutton and esp. Luis Gonzalez's monologues on the Dbacks feed right now about the walkoff celebration and all their iterations about "respect for the game" make me want to puke. Hey Gonzo, take the needle out of your arm before you dare lecture others about "respect for the game."
  21. For the most part (I believe he played a few games as catcher), Macha falls within these limitations. Again, I'm not necessarily on-board with him not starting Gamel and Escobar as much as possible (I understand they want to get JJ some looks), and today's decision to switch out Gamel was pretty inexplicable in the situation, but to me, the true storyline of this season's disappointment was not written by Macha.
  22. I don't think Gamel being switched out in the 8th is why we lost today, and I don't believe Gamel not being played enough in June or Hardy playing now is why this team is gonna be sub-.500. I'm not 100% on-board with any of these lineup decisions, but I'd be surprised if Macha got canned because of them.
  23. Hardly. But this particular one was. I could even understand it if there were men on, but what the...
  24. I'm a Macha defender, but if you were gonna have Gamel pinch-hit, leave him in there regardless of whether the Cards make the switch in this situation, come on
