  1. Who was doing the lecturing? Presumably you paid for this tour, right? Unbelievable.
  2. Nothing, if you're playing sports. With a collared dress shirt though, well, I'm not exactly GQ, but come on. Poor Larry looks lonely at any rate. Cool photos.
  3. I'm really surprised that anyone honestly thinks LaRussa did that to spite Fielder or the Brewers personally, or was concerned mostly with trying to protect Pujols' record. The game was within reach for the Cards, the base was open with two outs, Prince had been killing them all day, and yeah, he's a proven RBI hitter. Tell me why he should've pitched to him? The brotherhood of man? Was it an exhibition at that point? Sorry, I guess I just don't buy that.
  4. Why would LaRussa pitch to Fielder there, come on now. Anyway, nice end to the season. Love seeing these bro-hugs
  5. I thought Prince had him there Well, disappointing end to the season for Trevor...hopefully we can still snake the win
  6. I guess for my last word is, I am, ultimately, a huge Olympics fan, and Rio is going to be magnificient host...from my seat in front of the screen, at least.
  7. What's funny is that Daley himself seems to be one of the driving forces in the other way...more Chicagoans were for it before Daley really started giving it the hard press ("The more you tighten your grip, Daley, the more star systems will slip through your fingers..."). And yeah, I was working on the 55th floor of the Chase building in the Loop when he did that, and I remember us all gathering around the windows, looking down at it and wondering what kind of banana republic we lived in (of course, he's had another landslide victory since then--for as many complaints there were about him in Chicago, you can't help those who can't help themselves. Which is why I find the cheering of Chicago-based Daley-haters about their proxy victory today kinda pathetic).
  8. Brewers win, Brewers win. And loved how they did it, regardless of the scenario. Well, I'm going camping up in Mendocino County for the weekend early tomorrow morning, so that was my last Brewers game and IGT of 2009...I will absolutely take it. Let's Go Brewers! Let's go Brewerfan.net! 2010 is but a few months away!
  9. Wish this game actually counted for something but it's fun watching Molina's meltdown here all the same.
  10. Yeah, come on, let's just tie it up to take away #20 from Wainwright. Why yes, I'm bitter and feeling ugly and petty watching this team. Edit: Brauny my man
  11. Well, again, 53% of Chicagoans in the last poll were against the Games coming to Chicago.
  12. http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/cartoon/2009-10/49630514.JPG
  13. The Cards' announcers are saying "The fans...they're, uh, booing Prince Fielder right now because he didn't show enough effort at his last at-bat running the bases." Ugh, I can't stand these sanctimonious twits. Really hope anyone from the NL goes on to the Series but them.
  14. I'm sorry, but this is just specious. The positive (and yes, negative) effects of such an event last well beyond a mere two weeks. Mixed feelings, since I didn't think it was a good idea to give Daley such a big easily-abused toy to play with, but I thought this was a great opportunity, economic, infrastructure, and otherwise, for Chicago. Yeah, and Wisconsin. I think I thought they'd get edged by Rio, but first round is a bit of a kick in the gut. It's my understanding from reading the BBC that the first round results largely occurred because Rio supporters made a conscious decision to try and get Chicago out of the running ASAP since they were Rio's biggest threat, in combination with a sentimental plea by an aged Juan Antonio Samaranch to vote for Madrid and the fact that North America has the smallest voting bloc really sealed their doom. Even most of the IOC members seemed surprised by it. Not really much to do with Obama or Anti-Americanism or even Chicago or its bid.
  15. Now I'm hoping Chicago gets it just to get in the craw of all you Chicago-haters! (That said, I'm against it if only because the Daley administration can't be trusted with the money and level of construction it's gonna take to get this off the ground. They'd be better off long-term for the city building the Circle Line, at a fraction of the cost)
  16. Since no one posted this, Corey is indeed done for the year. Another disappointing season on a team chock full of them this year.
  17. You quoted TH in today's IGT, and I think it's apropos here: "Parra finishes the year with 6.36 ERA. Bush is done at 6.38. Suppan is at 5.30. Looper is at 5.10. Nice starting rotation the Brewers have." Macha won't get fired this year, nor should he, in my opinion.
  18. Bums. Glad I'm going out of town this weekend so I don't have to watch them limp any further.
  19. Nope, nope, not really Way to finish strong, Brewers.
  20. What a great week for the Rockies...they're having a celebratory walk in the park today.
