  1. I believe that's Roald Dahl
  2. Why would anyone be offended by this? It's Spring Training, Hope Springs Attorney "What do you want me to say, that I'm gonna lose?"--Pete Vuckovich
  3. I was just coming to ask this question At first I thought maybe Brian had shot up a Sentry or something
  4. I've done both and I found I had the same problem in both places: cramped, somewhat uncomfortable "bedding" and the movement of the train doesn't change because you're in a sleeper. Not to mention the additional few hundred dollars part.
  5. I had to go to Chippewa Falls for work once several years ago and had a Tuesday afternoon free. I remember the "tour" took about ten minutes and then I spent about an hour or so drinking free beer and chatting with the old duffer behind the bar. I highly recommend it.
  6. I could never do one of these bar Opening Day packages again...just too many drunks around us in our ticket block (I know: what did I expect).
  7. Funny, the other night at my local I told some drunk meathead fool what-for and knocked him down to size when he tried defending the idiot President we've had the last seven years and his BS-conservative lackeys
  8. This article is barely worth the effort people are going to put into trashing it... I see better analysis on a daily basis right here at bf.net. (cleaned up code --1992)
  9. I have to wonder if everyone would be OK with Vick's dogfighting if it was legal in Virginia I don't think people were outraged because he lied to the Feds
  10. I think it's pretty barbaric regardless of whether it's legal, same as dog-fighting, but the hypocrisy is always interesting. I'm a meat-eater, and I'm sure most of the beef and chicken I eat have been kept in worse conditions than these roosters. Additionally, the only gambling I really enjoy is playing the dogs and the horses. Yeah, they aren't killed in the process, but I always feel there's something vaguely exploitative about it, especially at the dogtracks and the smaller horsetracks. Maybe exploitative isn't the word for it, but I'm always wary of mistreatment and disrespect.
  11. Yeah, Moor looked bad but with Bornstein out, at least I assume it won't be a permanent problem at the position. I'm really excited for Altidore after tonight as well. I didn't think we'd miss the guys we were missing tonight, but I think we did (Beasley, Bornstein, etc)
  12. Yeah, him and Tom Petty played upfront Petty had an amazing freekick opportunity but his hair got in his eyes
  13. Fantastic match so far...Jozy's goal was amazing (great follow-through) and good to see Gooch get some. Now if only the US side can get it together on these Mexican set plays, because Howard is looking good otherwise.
  14. Google didn't save me but I admit wikipedia did
  15. I can't help you with the job thing unless you're looking for work in the theatre business, but if/when you come out hit me up some time. I live out in The Sunset District here in town, right by Golden Gate Park.
  16. The collaborator you're referring to is Curtis Mayfield, I assume?
  17. I like Petty plenty, and thought he had a good set if a little staid, but the only way he was topping Prince's performance last year to start was if he had started singing a Traveling Wilburys song...and Roy Orbison and George Harrison joined him onstage.
  18. Dude looks like an aged Scott Baio
  19. I kept waiting for a third SalesGenie commercial to come up, featuring Willie and LaWanda the Watermelon Sellers, speaking in jive Awful and embarassing Anyway, Charlie Brown ruled
  20. Hope Springs Attorney, I know baseball season is around the corner now. Here's to keeping this one half the size of last year's.
  21. This is driving me nuts...I was certain that was Nile Rodgers on the right at first, now I'm certain that's Tony Thompson on the left...but it's not Chic. Labelle an Sister Sledge don't check out either. I'm sitting the rest of this one out for my mental health.
  22. Growing up in Florida, I went to ST games all the time and saw a lot of great stuff and not just on the diamond (like George Steinbrenner getting booed vociferously by seven or eight guys as he walked into his limo, or Michael Jordan drinking beers with his young White Sox teammates at my local watering hole). This'll be my first Brewers' Spring Training though. It's finally reasonable and affordable now that I live on the far side of the Mississippi. We're just flying down the morning of Saturday, March 8 and flying back the next evening. We'll be able catch two games...that early on there'll be a lot of scrubs getting most of the playing time, but I think we'll have a good time regardless. No hotel yet but I usually wait on that...I can imagine they do great business down there that time of year though so I'll have to hurry it along.
  23. Funny thing about this thread, if anything I have a much more negative opinion of old Wisconsin than I did when it started. "Top Ten" indeed!
  24. My wife and I moved to San Francisco from Chicago in '06 not knowing anyone (a couple friends of friends but that's as close as it got)...I really like California but I do miss all our friends and family back in Chicago.
