  1. Are we really gonna do this? Anyway, FWIW, I don't think they're "toast," necessarily; in this division, I still think they have a chance. The Lopez deal makes me think Doug thinks the same. But I do think they shouldn't give up a ton for a guy they'd control only through the end of the year. It's a crapshoot right now I think, despite being relatively high on the team still. And trades aside, just one of Hardy or Hart or even Hall finding some stroke would be a huge improvement. Now, if they can get a stud they control through the end of 2010, I do think it's worth their while to strongly consider it if there's a feasible deal while we have Prince and Braun and Yo all here.
  2. More than 48 hours until the next Brewers' game time--it's gonna stink to be without ball until then (esp. the way this one ended, but whatever), but hopefully it gets the bullpen some more rest. They've needed it.
  3. How can you just take a third of the season out and point to the remainder as some form of proof about the team as a whole. I definitely don't think this is a great team, but I do think it's a good team, one that still has what it takes to make a run in this division, and if we can get a stud (for the right price, who we'll control for beyond this year--admittedly this is a long shot), it's worth consideration and may well indeed help to make a difference.
  4. Yeah, his 4 RBI today were worthless. Also, I'm awfully curious what "young MLB ready" pitchers guys like Cam or Kendall would bring in. I know there's another thread for this, but I think in this division, with this window, a stud pitcher you can control for the next year and a half is a move you have to give strong consideration to, 3-4 road-trip to crummy teams or not.
  5. What'd he do? Can't say I'd blame him for getting excited and doing some fist pumps there or shouting into his glove or whatever. Just curious about this still. I bet the Pirates won the World Series today.
  6. You knew the walkoff was gonna happen the second Cam was stranded at third. Stetter pretty much had to come out for the 9th then.
  7. What'd he do? Can't say I'd blame him for getting excited and doing some fist pumps there or shouting into his glove or whatever.
  8. Argh. NP: Ian Dury-"What a Waste" Deserve to see these sad sacks walk one off on us if we can't bring a guy in from third with our big meat
  9. Come on Braunie, one more (maybe two more?!?) RBI for the Brew Crew and my fantasy team!
  10. The offense has looked terrible (again) since that 5-run outburst Getting late.
  11. Huge. Second time a big ol ginger has gotten out a jam for the Crew today. Let's capitalize on this fellas.
  12. Well, I don't like where this is headed at all. Although if they're gonna lose this one, I'd rather they do it in the 7th than 8th, and certainly more than 9th or extras.
  13. And with that said, Joel Hanrahan, he of the 7.41 ERA, makes the top of our lineup look pretty silly. Man...the way it's going today, will we get to the point today where we're saying, "Just get to Billy Hall, just get to Billy Hall..."? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  14. It was a two run lead after four and a half to be fair. I'm not happy with McClung's performances the last few weeks, believe me, but the way the balls have been jumping today I was going to be surprised if they didn't score at least one more. And at the least, in a slugfest I feel better with our guys than theirs.
  15. Standard-issue facepalm moment. McClung has been mostly worthless the last few weeks.
  16. When I saw that"In Play, Runs," I assumed McClung gave up yet another homer. Jeez. Come on Big Red, hold it down here.
  17. Good work from McClung there, I thought for sure the Pirates would get the dagger there
  18. Obviously the pros and cons of a Halladay deal are up for a 25+ page debate, I just think it's funny that yet another crummy performance by our starter is prompting these comments. "Why should we trade for a starter? Our starters stink!"
  19. I say this every year. And no Brewers team will ever, ever frustrate me the way the 2007 team did, that team tore my heart right out of my chest and stomped on it. But yeah, they're up there, although the writing was on the wall with this pitching staff at the beginning of the year. I'm more frustrated when our bats have gone cold. That said, call me crazy, but I think we can make up a three-run deficit. No guarantees, but I don't think this one's oevr quite yet.
  20. Yeah, why on Earth would this team trade for starting pitching (that they'd control for the next year and a half)?
