  1. Word now is Washburn/Clement/Lowe to Boston for Jed Lowrie?!? Edit: Nevermind, I need to stop believing the internet
  2. Some genius in the comments of mlbtraderumors posted: "Mariners Get: 3B Matt Gamel C Angel Salome SP Manny Parra Brewers Get: C Jeff Clement SP Jarrod Washburn" and I couldn't decide whether to gag or laugh.
  3. 3rd, apparently. Sure sounds like something's up. According to MLBtraderumors, he was rumored to be part of a threeway trade with Cleveland and Tampa Bay involving Morrow, Lee, Victor Martinez and Kazmir--makes me think Washburn to the Crew could be dead. Can't imagine what we'd do with Clement unless Salome is going somewhere else.
  4. You're right, for some reason I thought that was already in the can. Strangely, that added half game kinda makes me feel differently (somehow the last two games didn't?).
  5. I don't know, I hear you about not getting in a bidding war, and agree 100% on that, but if a deal can be swung that also brings Morrow (or pitching beyond '09) and doesn't cost the Crew too dearly (again, that's all relative and I'm still not sure what my definition is), I don't have a massive issue addressing this team's biggest problem while still within striking distance.
  6. Well, so the Brewers didn't end up losing any games on the division tonight, Washburn's done for the evening up in Seattle (pretty good night, 7 IP, 5 hits, 1 run which was earned, 3 BB, 1 K, left in line for the win) where the Brewers had a scout, DM has confirmed to McCalvy that him and Jack Z are talking, Villard gets rocked as did on the previous two days Looper and Suppan (who is now looking very questionable for his next start at the least). I have to wonder if this is going to happen maybe as early as tonight.
  7. Credit where it's due, that was afeter and someone else (can't remember who), from '07 Knew I'd saved that for a good reason
  8. Oh man, people are booing Trevor now. Actually, for once I wouldn't mind the fans really letting this team have it--after the final out.
  9. This week's gotten an oldie but goodie in my head: A long, long time ago I can still remember How the brewers used to make us smile And I knew that this was their chance to make it to the dance And make us fans happy for a while But July made us shiver With every blown lead they delievered More stupid moves by ned produced rage in the vent thread I can't remember if I cried When I realized this team had no pride but it still burned me deep inside The day the brewers died So bye, bye to the playoff chase Another losing season is about to take place Only hope for next season is left to embrace Singin' my heart ran out of space The day the brewers lost the race. So bye-bye to the Miller Park fans Just another gray September makin' off-season plans The Brewer fans were left to their summer tans Sayin' "One more season straight down the can..."
  10. 32 runs and counting in three days. Wow. The bats haven't done much either (9 runs so far in three days) but I can't remember the last time they were getting clocked like this at home so badly.
  11. Yep. These guys are really no fun right now. I'll take that DP though, phew, that could've been ugly.
  12. Yeah, I was just about to post that. This is looking more and more dire.
  13. Interesting perspective from Seattle. He seems to be missing a few things.
  14. Not much we don't know but from MLBTraderumors just now: 6:06pm: Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal are now reporting that Washburn is "officially available" and have informed the Yankees, who plan to make an offer soon. The Brewers also could be interested in Washburn.
  15. Yeah. Add in that what we could get with our "trade bait" most likely wouldn't be worth dealing for when we're (guessing) three games back by the deadline and I especially don't see it happening this year. Beyond the fans, I wonder what message selling in this situation sends to our younger players here, both as an organization and that organization's belief in their abilities.
  16. Well, I don't have a huge problem with them being buyers provided the pitcher will be here in '10 (maybe not altogether likely) and doesn't cost the Brewers a whole lot either financially or in terms of players (also not altogether likely, but that's relative).
  17. I haven't heard the Brewers connected to anything, buy or sell, since Sunday evening. At this stage I'd be surprised if they were involved in any deal whatsoever although I still wouldn't mind seeing them make a deal (maybe even a huge deal) that helps reinforce pitching--starting or relief--in '10. What that deal would be I have no idea.
  18. I've always been a sucker for these kinds of?syrupy weepers: this one, "Green Green Grass of Home," "Patches" (both of them!),?even "Seasons in the Sun." ??
  19. Everything about 3Oh!3-"Don't Trust Me" ("Do the Helen Keller..") is horrific, from start to finish. Between these guys and Asher Roth, I can't remember a time when Top 40 radio was so full of abrasive milquetoast white guys with grating voices. Personally, I kinda like the stupid fun of and how galvanizing "I'm in the ______, [Trick]" is.
  20. I've stayed at the Millenium and paid for parking although I don't honestly remember how much. It was by-day so I could come and go as I pleased. I also bought tickets day of once when I was there, and this was weeks after new Busch opened, but it was just a single ticket. Hard to say if you've got a few guys. I know there was a flourishing trade in scalpers outside the park.
  21. I kinda hate how the Brewerfan forums turn into a hornet's nest in periods when the team has been down the last few years. [/Rodney King]
  22. My wife and I didn't have a lot of time to spend there outside the games themselevs and pre- and post- in the Gaslamp (our hotel was right there, too), but the time we did spend was at Balboa Park, soaking in the sun and having some beers out by the Old Globe Theatre. Really pleasant, but I'm a sucker for huge city parks. Anyway, next time we get down there I definitely want to check the beaches out--the islands there remind me a lot of the keys along the Gulf coast where I grew up. Sorry I don't have more for you.
  23. Yeah, if Ricciardi wasn't going to get fired after this season anyway, I can't imagine this fiasco is going to help him.
