  1. Any one of my Vernon County relatives after an evening at the River's End Tavern I want to say this guy was in the news for some reason...
  2. Yep, Whizkid got it--I didn't even have to resort to my "He was a good neighbor" clue!
  3. Part of me is laughing, part of me is wildly disturbed. But no--this person's program aired during the daytime, usually.
  4. He looks vaguely Taint McFaddenish, but no He was on television
  5. Strange, let me host it on another site for those who couldn't see it: http://i42.tinypic.com/241t8g5.jpg
  6. Slow start... Here's a pretty big hint: he may be more recognizable to people who grew up in the 70s and 80s
  7. That's my local go-to A summer day in the park isn't without a cold Racer 5
  8. Rich and famous people should not be inherently idolized. However, there are often good reasons they are individually.
  9. I can't believe we've gone close to an entire off-season without a good old-fashioned GWSY Let's start our favorite home-stretch-to-the-season activity off with a relatively easy one: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/SeriesFinale75/gwsy104.jpg
  10. Prince was the greatest one ever. I do think Springsteen was 2nd, though, although I thought he should have switched "Glory Days" and "Born to Run" in order. I liked U2 but I found Bono's American flag jacket bit totally contrived and ridiculous.
  11. Two of the last four World Cup finals have been decided on free kicks after overtime. This departure from "the integrity of the game" doesn't seem to have affected the world's abilty to take it seriously or get really excited about it.
  12. To be fair, McG directed the Charlie's Angels movies and We Are Marshall. He's dealt with as big of (or bigger...and quite possibly crazier) stars as Bale before. I do agree that he failed as a director in this situation. I'm a rep for an entertainment union, and I spend a fair amount of time on sets out here in CA, and while these kind of tantrums aren't unheard of, they're also not what I would call common. There are always disagreements and even small blowups, but this was beyond the pale, regardless of the DP's sizable error.
  13. That's what I get for making cracks at my fellow bf.netters!
  14. Inter-squad ST games can be brutal!
  15. Well, that's the big unanswered question. Why are the Brewers not involved at this point and why doesn't Ben seem to be at all interested in getting them involved, especially considering almost all potential suitors have fallen to the wayside left and right? Health issues, bad blood, feasible money problems, what?
  16. I've been a little curious too as to why there hadn't been too much heat on Lowry league-wide, despite the injury, but recte44 is right, we've got our own injury-comeback project who could well contribute in '09 already and as such it makes no sense for the Brew Crew to send anyone SF's way for him.
  17. A quite solid, often unsung Brewers' career; best of luck in St. Pete, Brian
  18. TH has pretty much always kindly replied to any question or rant I've emailed him, because I think he knows where we're coming from as fans. He's been covering the Brewers forever and a day, and you can tell he cares as much or more than the rest of us; I saw him in the tunnel right after the Brewers had swept the Giants last season, topping the weekend by picking up Ray-Ray, and I saw him right there as Mark A and Durham met, and TH had a smile a thousand miles wide, as did most of the Brewers and their fans. That said, he's not paid to be #1 fan, and the inaccuracies do bother me. But generally I think he does a pretty good job.
  19. I imagine Soto will be making a Kendall-like number of appearances this year.
  20. It always seems like the former Brewers backing up C for the Cubs do a number on us. Better him than Javier Valentin, I suppose. Obviously I'd rather see Bako than Soto, but I got a bit of a nausesous feeling when I saw this.
  21. I would be livid with Big Ben if he did that to the Brewers over what would really only be a difference of maybe a million or two, especially after they offered him a fair arby.
  22. What's Tomo Ohka up to these days?
  23. It just seems so strange to me that he would pick what would likely be a bargain 1 or 2 year contract with the Rangers over what I presume would be a very similar deal with the Brewers, who he's been with since Day One and who he would seem to have a much better chance at pitching in the playoffs this year with. I guess the source of his obvious reluctance to come back is the $1,000,000 question (maybe literally!)
  24. I thought maybe they had a national game on April 9th against the Giants, since the game starts here in SF at 4:05 PM PST, which is highly unusual for a Thursday game.
