  1. Stand up triple by D. Lee to lead off the Cubs bottom of the 9th...pebadger, I'm lookin' at you!
  2. Man, on a night the Brewers are playing out West and knocking the ball around I'm stuck late at work. By the way, Grant Balfour struck out the side in the 9th (after pitching a scoreless 8th as well) to lower his ERA to 1.08 (!!!! One of the few things that make me feel like the Rays ARE a fluke) to help the Rays beat the Red Sox, 3-1.
  3. He traded two of his best pitching prospects near the deadline last year for a 3 month rental. I don't think he's incapable of dealing a couple more of higher caliber for a higher-caliber rental this year.
  4. If the Indians sign him, I'm OK with that. If he goes to an AL team, I'm OK with that (esp. the Rays). I mainly don't want him going to the Cubs or Cards--the Cards because of the WC, obviously, and the Cubs because it makes them much harder to beat in the playoffs.
  5. Given the asking price on other starters, Padilla's performance this year, and Melvin's Rangers history, I'm surprised this hasn't been tossed about more. As long as Bush and McClung are pitching like the #4 and #5s they are, and not #6s or #10s, I don't see why it makes sense to trade for another one. A stud #1/#2 or even a solid #3 though? That's a different story.
  6. Yeah, there's certainly that, too. See also Adam Dunn. I do agree that if it happens it'll happen as soon after the AS Break as possible...I'd assume the Brewers are going to want to get as many starts from Sabathia as they can. It doesn't seem to make sense to me from either perspective of the Brewers to wait until the deadline.
  7. Is anyone starting to feel that Sabathia indeed will be wearing a Brewers uniform at some point in the next couple weeks? I'm still not sure how I feel about it and I know how the grist-mill works but there does seem to be an awful lot of smoke surrounding this rumor right now.
  8. Even as one of the few Hall fans still out there, if we can trade him in lieu of sending both LaPorta and Gamel I am all for it.
  9. That's good to know and makes sense. I'm not an autograph-seeker but I do travel to see the team a couple times a year and if I saw them late at night in, say, the hotel lounge I'd definitely buy them a round and come by to say Hello afterwards--I'm still kind of a 10-year old in that I love seeing the players. Maybe they wouldn't have an issue with getting a free beer but it's still a job for them to be a public persona and they probably don't want to deal with it when winding down after a long night of "work," as it were. Anyway, I worked at the poolside restaurant at the Vinoy in St. Petersburg in 1997, and all the traveling NHL teams stayed there. I never talked shop with any of them and they were great tippers. Apparently the MLB teams stay there now.
  10. I don't think Invader3K was suggesting that the games should be geared to drunks Anyway, if you don't like kids or drunks at the games you can have no problem finding sections where you likely won't find as many of neither
  11. I know the Huntsville Stars have been talked up a lot but does anyone think a major-league Brewer might be dealt along with one of LaPorta/Gamel as well?
  12. Bah, they got away with one there, not that it mattered (Hardy shoulda been called out before that anyway)
  13. Jet-lag, of course, doesn't explain why the Cubs are doing a number on the Giants here in SF right now after a night game in Chicago, however
  14. That wasn't an approved 3TO result Well, the whole team has looked out of sorts tonight, like they're jet-lagged and mailing it in http://logelevel.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/caseofthemondays.jpg
  15. I kinda like how they blast the end of Won't Get Fooled Again after jacks, I have to admit
  16. Well, at the least we won't have to see Valverde up there signifying tonight
  17. I call him DJ Qualls and it makes me feel better because he's mixing mad beats. And our hitters should be filling vending machines.
  18. Yeah, so, that was the meat of our order provided with a leadoff double and Mr. Chad Qualls on the bump, folks
  19. Sutton handing out $100 to some retiree throwing his life's savings away on a slot machine at an AZ casino, priceless He can't even give the guy a c-note, either
  20. I say this as kindly as possible: you need to get out more.
