  1. Dodger team president Stan Kasten was quoted as saying their spending was good for baseball. He doesn't understand why people are upset about their off season splurge. I think there are a lot of people who are upset because their team cannot spend that way. The imbalance is what people are upset about and for Kasten to say more teams should do it is very condescending on his part.
  2. I'm not sure MLB wants the small teams to win it all. More money in revenue when big market teams are there. Just a lot of lip service to the bottom 20 teams to pacify them and the fan base with " WE MADE THE PLAYOFFS AND ONE OR TWO OF THE BIG MARKET TEAMS DIDN'T" WHOOPEE
  3. Don't have Baseball America. Who they like the most?
  4. Maybe they are hammering out a longer term extension for Contreras.
  5. Between Made, Quintana, Pena and Anderson it looks like there are 4 major league players. Way to early to call that but, there might be more in that class.
  6. I too am excited for the upcoming season. Now sign Flaherty!
  7. And all that is fine As long a we are satisfied with "winning the central" We made the playoffs again! Lost in the first round again (sad face) Just once make the "Crochet" trade and be "all in" And this one wouldn't have even cost a lot of dollars Mad Dog says "They are just prospects" All of this is easily arguable and I get it But just once ....................................
  8. There are 5 catchers in the top 100 draft prospects on MLB Brewers have lots of picks
  9. We might have some money to spend depending on some other contracts: Adames-$12 million if/when he doesn't sign Miley-$7 million I doubt he will be back Sanchez-$3 million-Again doubt he is resigned With the previously mentioned Hoskins and Williams also clearing up payroll perhaps I will agree that there will be some raises to be paid but I think there will be some money to spend
  10. Sign those High School pitchers and turn them loose. Never can have enough pitching
  11. Chourizo Don't disagree with your reasoning at all. Here to hoping that Payne is the next Rickey Henderson, Mike Trout or someone close to as good as they are/were.
  12. In 2016 the Brewers took Corey Ray who was arguably the "best athlete in the class" Hope we didn't do that again
  13. I think, as mentioned earlier, some combination of these players is the trade bait the Brewers will use, Performance, injuries, 40 man roster spot, overabundance in the OF spots. These are the decisions that MA2 will make in the next month or so. What do we need/want? Maybe not totally decided yet.
  14. It was a terrible passed ball by Sanchez. Don’t forget that.
  15. Too many smoking guns. Ohtani is not being forthright in his statements.
  16. Cleared a 40 man roster spot. And got an interesting young pitcher. Making room for a spring training overachiever?
  17. MLBTR has Turner projected for a one year deal at $16 million. Cots has Brewer payroll under $100 million. Get it done.
  18. The Dodgers didn't sign a 32 year old outfielder. They signed perhaps the best baseball player ever who is 29. Plus an international pitcher who is 25. For over 1 billion total. The system is broke.
  19. Out of all of your points the one that hits home for me is "there are a number of factors that have allowed fans of small revenue teams to feel hopeful each spring but will that continue?" We may have gone beyond that point with a lot of fans already. Sure, we can win a division but our postseason success has been limited. Doubt that either the owners or players care about that right now as they are both making lots of cash. Blame it on whom ever you want but neither side is anything but greedy. Who suffers? Maybe no one. The fans keep going and the game moves on.
  20. To comment on Cheesehead's thought. Any fan of small market teams loves it when the big spenders lose. But it might be because that is all we realistically have to cheer for. Oh our Brewers have been competitive and it has been a great run. Hopefully it continues. But most years we truly have no chance to win the WS. You can talk about "bites of the apple". You can say we were close in 2018. (the Dodgers were dominated by the Red Sox.) And so on. At some point a team has to "go for it" or we are going to be full of apples with no championship flags to fly.
  21. Igor has it right. Different system for the playoffs.
  22. This is a nothing burger. Won’t happen.
  23. This may have been answered somewhere already. If so I apologize but the questions I have are this. If Ohtani is injured and can't play don't most teams have insurance to cover that? Also, if he never returns to the game and insurance pays the bill, does his salary still count against the CBT?
  24. I think a Yelich trade could happen but doubt he goes to the Yankees. Full no trade clause . Maybe a west coast team.
  25. It would seem likely that the Brewers bring Miley back next year wouldn't it?
