  1. This is the clarity that I needed that has been missing from the start of this thread Based on these facts - I agree that it is too risky for Milwaukee to waive him I’m quite sad by this news - we simply have to swallow hard & endure a “bad” contract that hamstrings a small market team & prevents us from reallocating those dollars in a more efficient way … bummer
  2. I would be delighted if this is true & Yelich was traded in the offseason - even if Milwaukee needs to pick up some of the salary … I would not favor including prospects (as was required in moving JBJ) After watching this 2022 team struggle for three months, I’m ready to refresh the roster in 2023 with some of these top prospects - Frelick, Turang, Ruiz, others TBD I understand that we have “a window” with quality starters (Burnes, Woodruff) that is closing soon but a significant roster turnover would be welcomed by me
  3. This is likely true - thanks for a balanced perspective Frelick would not cost $30M so a drop off in production until he establishes himself would be worth it to me
  4. Is “the old way” no longer an option or no longer popular?
  5. This is stunning news … I had no idea how bad MLB left fielders are these days IF Yelich is among the best … so surprising
  6. Yelich has an absolutely terrible arm in LF + he has no power left … he is exceptional on the base paths - speed & first to third, etc. That said - What a joke for Yelich to be listed as the 8th best LF in MLB … that’s ridiculous & must be factoring in his golden years … no way he is currently 8th
  7. $30M total or the entire contract? If only $30M, I would waive him immediately I assume - if waived & not pulled back - Milwaukee would owe him his full salary for the extent of his contract … correct?
  8. I understand your frustration, but if you re-read my two posts to begin this thread - I never referenced his contract extension My point was I was surprised that Yelich now has nearly as many at bats after 2019 as he did in his first two MVP level years & the drop in production is astounding I also suggested that this drop in production must be related to his injury Finally, while there are other formerly great, MVP level players that fade into average players - there are few (if any) that drop as drastically … especially in power production … as Yelich
  9. Just now catching up on this game after a family dinner without access to follow It appears tonight may be the night we lose the NL Central lead after a four game lead less than a week ago STL is leading NYY & after being swept by the Pirates, we are now losing to the Reds who traded away many of their best players Not a great week to be diehard Brewers fan As I’ve suggested several times over the last three months … this subpar play is a trend - not a slump These Brewers that I love are not a very good team
  10. He’s starting at 1B this evening against a lefty … which makes no sense He pounds RH pitchers … he primarily plays against lefties
  11. You are breaking my heart with your facts … I don’t disagree but what a gift that would be … & Frelick would be superior batting & fielding & equally as fast on the bases & OBP to Yelich immediately if he by chance were claimed
  12. Doesn’t Cutch hit lefties well? Doesn’t Hiura struggle against lefties? My frustration has been seeing Cutch bat cleanup against right-handed starters
  13. Why does it matter if an underperforming, overpaid formerly great player is hacked off? The financial freedom that could be had is worth the risk to me I understand his contract is HUGE & it would be surprising if someone took a flyer on him That said - he is a great clubhouse guy & someone with “stupid $$$” may want to add him hoping he could rebound with a fresh start This would be a DREAM scenario for me … I would love to see how Milwaukee could reallocate those funds in 2023 & beyond I know the $ is peanuts compared to Yelich lengthy & high-$ contract, but I was stunned that Colorado picked up Lamet’s contract this week
  14. I hope he’s traded in the offseason … he deserves a fresh start His strikeout % is simply too high for someone who is so defensively limited He can - on occasion- mash the ball His inability to hit lefties makes him a trade or DFA candidate once his minor league options expire
  15. As I understand things, Milwaukee had until 8/1 to sign all it 2022 draft picks How many of our 20 draft picks were signed? How many & which ones were NOT signed? I don’t believe the information in the Draft thread is complete
  16. So … although everyone seems to agree that he is un-tradeable … he could be placed on waivers & claimed by another team even if he didn’t want to go? Wow … if (since) that is true, I hope they place Yelich on waivers immediately - Suter too!
  17. I believe Severino passed though the DFA process & will stay in the Brewers organization. He doesn’t have a great glove, but he was Stearns’ choice to backup Narvaez this year before his 80-game suspension. Do you consider him a better option behind Caratini in 2023?
  18. I asked about Hiura because I didn’t see him listed as a bench bat in the 2 months in list you shared after being the primary DH to start the season I hope Turang replaces Wong at 2B, but I guess he could become the inclined utility man with occasional CF duties
  19. It seems that we have “too many” lefties in our bullpen …
  20. I say YES … but doesn’t he have a no-trade clause in his contract? If so - how does that work? As far as Yelich & Brewers teammates being upset - it might get their minds off the Hader trade ?
  21. I’ve attached his stats below, but I’m not sure how to compile the stats to get a true comparison between Yelich’s pre-injury & post-injury: 2018 & 2019 1063 AB - 357 hits, .327 BA, 70 doubles, 9 triples, 80 HR, 207 RBI, 671 total bases, & 52 of 58 stolen bases 2020 to 2022 978 AB - 239 hits, .244 BA, 43 doubles, 7 triples, 29 HR, 108 RBI, 383 total bases, & 29 of 34 stolen bases Someone smarter than me could figure out the SLG, OBP, & OBS percentages (which I’d love to see) The falloff is drastic … surely this is injury related The suddenness of his fall from MVP level to slightly above average (being generous) is remarkable
  22. He may need Braun’s kryo-therapy (or whatever it was called)
  23. Will the Brewers attempt to re-sign super utility Jace Peterson in 2023 or will he become too expensive?
  24. Where does Hiura wind up in your 2 months in scenario?
  25. Yelich doesn’t currently possess enough power to warrant a position in LF, at 1B, or as DH … I hate that his contract may hinder one of these young future players from making the team & contributing in 2023
