These 2022 Brewers are certainly an enigma - built on run prevention (strong pitching & defense) that has underwhelmed to date, but on occasion … like last night in LA - shows they can compete & win against the best
I chose (wisely) to go to sleep once Urius hit his 4th inning HR last night & I awoke early this morning to the exciting news that Milwaukee shut out the LAD 4-0 … their first shutout of the year (which is amazing)
Milwaukee & LA have played 5 games in the past week with the Brewers out scoring the Dodgers 15-13 (which is equally amazing)
How can Milwaukee play competitively against top teams like LA & lose so many games to the NL Central bottom feeders - Cubs, Pirates, & Reds?
Looking at the next few weeks - following these remaining two games in LA - Milwaukee MUST take advantage of the weaker teams & get back in the (1) NL Central race (unlikely - STL is red-hot & addressed their starting pitching shortage at the trade deadline), or (2) Wild Card race (Philly & San Diego are both good but flawed teams - much like the Brewers)
Though this team has been disappointing, they may somehow sneak into the playoffs & they are proving - against the Dodgers & Cards - that they can be competitive in those games
Being an avid Brewers fan has likely taken years off my life … I would love to be surprised by an end-of-season rally followed by post-season success
